Chapter 147
Chapter 147
Nico
I do have business to attend to with some of the men that are stakeholders in my casino in Vegas. I need them to invest in Arizona too; it will help take some of the cash drain off myself. Not that I can’t afford it but it’s always wise to have investment capital.
The thing I haven’t told Lucky, nor do I intend to for now at least, is that Aurora has moved Yelena to Atlanta. There is nothing for Lucky to worry about but I need her close so I can interrogate her and be home for Lucky right now. There is not time with the wedding so close, to be flying to and from New York City.
I am, however, longing to get us back to New York. It’s my turf and my home. I love the craziness of the city. The city that never stops. The people, the districts, so much to explore. It never gets tired or old. It’s a place that fascinates me and I am sure that Lucky will want to go back soon.
Although to be honest, she will be spending a hefty amount of her time after the honeymoon in Arizona. God, how will I be able to keep my distance from her? It will be hard. The only solution is to buy a property there that we can reside in and I again will do the bulk of the travel. Not that I particularly look forward to that, but for Lucky I would crawl on my hands and knees to the end of the earth. Even if it was on fire.
She owns my heart; she arrests it in a way that causes me to be unable to breathe when I am not close to her. The woman is my oxygen, my ray of sun in a dark stormy day. Being near to her fills me with a passion that I swear to God, runs through my veins from blood to desire in the blink of an eye. And the way her lips are wrapped around my bulging cock.
So, yeah today after my meetings I am heading out to the safe house where Aurora is currently stationed with four of my biggest and best men, ex-Navy Seals who stand guard where Yelena is kept. It’s time to deal with the monster then cut off her head. Not me literally, no I don’t get blood on my hands anymore. However, being Yelena, I might just do that.
The meetings go well. I’ve managed for three of my investors to put a stake into the hotel and casino venture in Arizona. They will be sleeping partners and let Lucky run with it. According to them, it will be good to have fresh blood running the show down there. They might just be right and with Dario involved and his smarts – the guy has an MBA in Business and Finance; it seems to be a perfect match. Now all they need to do is actually talk to each other like civil people. FFS, he is going to be her brother-in-law very soon.
Thinking of the wedding fills me with nerves and jubilation at the same time. I’m not a man who experiences nerves. It’s not in my DNA. But marrying Lucky fills me with some fears. What if I am not the husband she needs or deserves? What if I fuck it all up by being the dark man that I am with grey morals? What if seems to be rotating around my head causing it to spin and give me blinding headaches.
As I step into my Bugatti, since I drove myself this morning to my offices here in Atlanta, I massage my temples with my fingers. The throbbing won’t relent.
It takes me forty minutes to get to the outskirts of Atlanta where I own a derelict barn. It’s nothing from the outside; it’s supposed to be that way. Like some wreck that should be torn down. It doesn’t attract attention. There is a blind gate that you can’t see from the road and electric wiring around the perimeter of the land. Animals can’t get through and if a human does, they’ll be zapped with three hundred volts running through their system. We leave nothing to chance in the Santangelo family. Fucking nothing!
At the gate, I press the fob to open it and slide my car through along a dirt track. Not the best thing for my Bugatti, hell I can buy a new one if it gets wrecked.
The barn is different shades of brown from the beating of the elements against the wood over the years. The door looks to be hanging off but that is merely a front only. There are no other cars parked outside. The Hummers will be round the back under an awning so nobody can see them. The only way to detect is by the air. And this is a no drone fly zone. Hence the reason we picked it as a safe house nearly five years ago. My guys did their research well. That’s what I pay them for.
Driving round the back, I park my vehicle next to one of the Hummers which dwarfs the Bugatti in height. I step out after killing the engine and open a side door that leads straight into the barn.
Inside is a different matter. It’s decked out with flagstone flooring, a large open space. The only natural light that comes through is from the glass we had put in on the roof. There is a door that leads to what is a bathroom on the right with a shower but no tub. A separate one is in place next to it especially for Aurora. Even though she shirked the idea when we planned the joint, saying she could use the same facilities as a man – I am not having any woman share with these heathens that I employ. No fucking chance.
In the middle of the space is a sofa and three large easy chairs, on the wall in front a seventy-five-inch flat screen that is currently playing a hockey game. Yeah, the guys are fans of pretty much any sport. There’s a kitchen on the right, open plan that could easily pass as a chef’s kitchen. Since my team sometimes have to spend weeks away from home, and we bring people here for interrogation, not always a quick assignment, they need a space that is comfortable for them.
There are bunk rooms at the far end where the guys sleep and Aurora does too. She drew the line at separate rooms. Fair enough. She gets what she wants since she is the best assassin in the world right now.
Fucking assholes have tried to buy her but she is loyal. That goes down well for a man like me.
And to the far corner on the left is a screened off area, behind which sits a sound proof room full of all sorts of apparatus for torture. I head that way then move the screen and open the door behind it.
“Hello Yelena.”
