Chapter 45

Lucky

I feel the bed as he slides under the sheets and lays down. I have placed two pillows in between us. It is distracting knowing he is so close to me, and I can hardly focus on the words in my book. Some damn romance with smutty scenes that makes me ache as it is, let alone having a good looking, fit man like Nico laying so close to me.

I hate the way that my body wants him, it’s hard to fight a man with such dark, brooding looks who is powerful, fierce and built like a God. My mind tells me it would be wrong, I have fought so hard for so long. Six whole months to ignore him as my fiancée.

Yet he has shown me some niceties, that I can’t deny but giving in to my body that literally craves him like his brother it seems craves heroine. “What are you reading?” he asks as he lays with his hands behind his back. He doesn’t wear a T-shirt or pajamas, fuck I hope he kept his boxer shorts on. Just the thought of him being totally naked next to me makes me cross my legs one over the other and squeeze my thighs together.

“A book.” I move my eyes away from his biceps that bulge with the tattoos over them. He keeps his eyes closed, like this he actually looks serene. His eloquent nose is perfect, aristocratic. He has good linage.

“Obviously, what’s it called? What’s it about?”

I slam the book as best I can on the covers. “What is it to you?”

“I’m trying to make conversation, Princess. I mean, we are engaged, we are in the same bed. This is what couples do.”

“We are not a couple, Nico. This is forced on me. I have no choice in the matter. You don’t love me like I need a man to love me. All encompassing, overpowering, everything. I want to own his heart the man that will finally be mine.”

“And what is to say you don’t already?” Huh? What did he just say? Do I need to clean my ears out. He’s joking with me, right?

I scoff at his words. “Yeah, like that’s even remotely true. Nobody owns your heart, Nico but yourself. You wouldn’t let a woman, or anyone get close unless it is your blood family.”

“That isn’t strictly true, Princess. I have feelings for you. God knows I don’t want to have but I think I have. You drive me insane, so insane I want to drag you by your hair, slam you over my knee and slap your cute, tight ass.”

Now he’s making my panties wet and trust me the fabric is thin. I feel the stickiness on my thighs already. My clit pulses. I focus on not moving my fingers under the sheets to tuck between my legs and finger myself.

“Feelings, my fucking right tit. You don’t know about love, Nico. You are hard, you are a mafia Don, you only know meanness, ruthlessness, how to kill to get ahead of everyone.”

“Not true, Lucky and watch your mouth running away with itself. I love my mother with my entire being. I love Dario and Tony and yes, I love my father.” That makes me snort. Why am I being such a cunt to him? It would stand to reason that he loves his family, blood is thicker than water and they are a close-knit family. Least ways growing up they were, now Dario is not so close with them.

“A romance book, fake dating. She is a photographer brought in to the hockey team to cover them on and off the ice. They don’t like each other but their feelings will evolve.” I fold my arms in front of my chest, my nipples erect and budding wanting him to stretch out his arm and touch me with those big, masculine hands of his.

“Ah, so like us then. This is called enemies to lovers is it not?”

“What do you know about books?”

“You have seen my library. You need to relax Lucky. Trust me you will find this all much easier if you give into your body. Let me show you how to feel like a proper woman should feel.”

“Oh, seriously. You promised to behave.”

He opens an eye and winks at me sending shivers up and down my body. My heart does something random and weird, almost like it flutters. “I am behaving, and you have a wall of cushions between us. Make sure you stay on your side tonight. I don’t want you sneaking around grabbing my cock when I’m sleeping.” His tongue runs over her full bottom lip.

I wish that this man was not a mafia don, was not Nico Santangelo because I want to sit on his face and suffocate him with my cunt and let my wetness cover his chin and the stubble on it.

“Red to me, Princess.”

“Are you mad?”

“We should behave like a couple. Now start fucking reading the story to me. Start from the beginning. You will read to me every night.”

“The fuck I will.”

“Do as you are told or there will be consequences.”

“Like what, you’re going to beat my tight cunt up with your huge cock?” I laugh and throw my head back. He shoots up quicker thank lightning, his large hand grabbing my throat applying pressure. His lips close to my face, I can feel his warm breath on me.

“Don’t fucking tempt me Lucky Gianluca.” He releases me, instantly I miss the touch of his hand on my flesh. I shake myself and throw my long hair that I have braided, over my shoulder.

He takes the book closes it, and opens it again at the beginning, “Power Play Passion,” he reads the title and nods. “Very good.” He hands me the book back. I glare at him torn between wanting to slap his handsome face and throwing back the covers so he can finish what he has started. I can’t even get myself off since he lays beside me in the bed.

I notice on his left arm is a script of writing, I can’t tell the language. “What does your tattoo say?”

“"Apprezza la vita, ama intensamente e proteggi sempre la famiglia." He glances at me. “You don’t speak Italian?” He raises a perfect, dark eyebrow.

“No.”

“It says cherish life, love hard and protect family always.” It takes me by surprise that he has something like this inked on to his skin.

“Here,” he says pointing to his left pec, “is where I will have Princess inked.” My mouth gapes open.

“Why? I just don’t get you, Nico. You hate me as much as I hate you, yet you want to have my nickname tatted on your body.”

“I don’t hate you, Princess. You think I do. After six months I feel differently towards you.”

“Since when?”

He lets out a sigh of exasperation. “Trust me, Lucky I didn’t want anything to change between us. However, when the shot was fired my heart was in my mouth. I couldn’t take it if something happened to you. Catching you and shielding you with my body made me realize that perhaps this is more.” He pauses, looking at me. His brilliant blue eyes searching deep into my emerald eyes. It’s as if he is looking into my soul.

“Now read.” He breaks his eyes away and closes his eyes and I begin to read.

A loud thud echoed through the rink as Tessa Collier slammed into the boards, her breath coming out in sharp gasps. She quickly shook off the hit, her eyes narrowing as she spotted the culprit skating toward her with a cocky grin. Of course, it was him—Landon Hayes, the arrogant team captain who thought he owned the ice. Ever since she’d been traded to the Thunderhawks, Landon had made it his personal mission to test her every chance he got.

“You call that a hit, Hayes? I barely felt it,” Tessa shot back, wiping a stray strand of hair from her face, her voice laced with challenge.

Landon's smirk deepened as he circled her, his dark eyes gleaming with amusement. “I’m just warming up, Collier. Didn’t want to hurt you too badly on your first day.”

Tessa scoffed, stepping closer to him, refusing to back down. “Worried I might skate circles around you, Captain? You should be.”

I glance over at Nico and see his chest rising and falling gently, his mouth is slightly parted as he drifts off to sleep. Now what? How do I even feel about him telling me he has feelings for me? And what seriously do I really feel for him? Dare I even admit it?
