Chapter XXII
It was a dark and dreary patch of forest located in Siberian Tundra in Northern Russia where we landed the sense of evil strong everywhere. It was cold my hands stiffing up as hell as Yuji and I stayed to the shadows avoiding any guards patrolling the perimeter. Waiting for a guard to pass us I concentrate to see if I could feel Jasper near by. It was faint like someone suppressed his energy with something. Yuji I think they put energy restriction bands on him. Unless we know who put them on him and how many he has on we can't take him.
I wanted to connect to him so bad, but I go the feeling if I did his “masters” would be aware that we were connected. So far they didn't know he had a woman close to him or I'd have had other visitors besides the ones after me specifically. Calming my mind we work our way through the building to the lower levels under ground. Yuji was able to map out places by touching the walls and seeing the structure. She sent me the map as she formed it so we could move stealthy through the maze of rooms and levels.
We were on the third level when I felt the rawest, sickest, all consumming evil I have felt surrounding the level practically chocking us. I quickly formed barriers around our body's so the evil wouldn't seep in and wear us down. You sure we don't need back up? This feels like a setup. Yuji said in my mind knowing things seem too perfect. I could feel him on the other side of the door and every nerve ending was telling me to get him out of here. Yuji grabbed my arm forcing me to look at her and see what I didn't want to see. Please see me!
Pushing the compulsion aside was so hard because I could feel his pain and loneliness just on the other side of the wall and I knew it was his. I couldn't take him, but if I walked in it could do more damage then good to both of us. Knowing what I have to do I reach for his mind lightly brushing the outside so he knew it was me. I'm coming back. Wait for me. Leaving his mind I felt the love and hurt as I distance myself from him. My heart was breaking but I had to concentrate to get us out of there so we could escape. Moving through the maze having to find a new route the masters knew their pet had been tampered with.
Kai you need to focus we will both be caught and then we will be forced to expose ourselves just to get our asses out of here. I knew she was right but the weight of his sorrow weighed more on me then I thought possible. Shaking it off as best I could I made sure the shadows cloaked us as we moved through them. Now close to the exit we waited for an opening when the evil presence suddenly shows up through the door looking around. F****ck. Thinking we are so screwed we wait in the shadows for him to pass as he walks closer to us staring into the shadowy corner we are hiding in.
Standing just outside the shadow he looked at us hard as if he could see into the shadows cloaking us. Leaning back he turned the other way walking off rounding a corner disappearing. Checking to see if anyone was close we slipped through the door staying tot he bushes until we were close to the tree line. Guards were searching everywhere for intruders, but we were patient and waited for the guards to pass us by. One stepped close to the bush Yuji was hiding in so I pitched a couple rocks at the trees we were about to head into. They turned heading toward the sounds as Yuji came right up on my flank tapping me. We need to get out of here and fast. Your gonna have to risk a portal here. There are just too many guards.
Knowing she was right I concentrated on the club house in case we had trouble, and our two hours were almost up. Focusing my energy and opening a small portal for Yuji and I to slip in all hell broke loose pushing Yuji in I followed feeling someone materializing behind me. I shut the portal immediately as I felt a hand reaching for me falling in the common area of the club house 5 people pointing guns at us. A finger dropped on my back as I sit up holding my hands up.
“Hey fellas got something to tell ya.”
