77. Caged?

Author's POV

"I can't let you go to Italy... You know the reason, Grace..."

Vlad sat beside her.

"But I want to explore... It's been a year. I need to collect pieces of my life..."

She said.

"Italy was never a part of your life... And it never will be."

He replied.

"I know you want to protect me... But how long?... You can't always protect me and keep me in this house... Vlad, I don't know how to survive out there without you or my bodyguard... What is my identity?... I don't feel like an Individual..."

Grace pleaded.

"Not Italy, Grace!"

He shook his head.

"They don't even know me... No one knows that I am your sister.."

She argued.

"They know that I have a sister and wife and I care about them... No arguments, Grace. You are not going there..."

He scolded.

"And they will know the moment you step on their land... Alexander is thirsty for my blood and he will do anything to hurt me."

"Fine, keep me caged here like an animal..."

Grace said and looked away.

Vera looked at Vlad and understood that her words hurt him. He will do anything but that, she knows how much he loves Grace and wants to give her every possible happiness.

He knows what Dominick has done to her.

He sighed.

"Go to Paris..."

He said and her eyes glowed.

Grace looked at him.

"Paris? You are not kidding, right?"

"No!... Go anywhere in the world except Italy."

He smiled.

"Yeah, You are the best brother."

She gave him bear hug making him laugh.

"Vlad!"

Michelle came and Grace took back her seat and grinned at Vera.

"Need to tell you something."

Michelle said.

"You can say it here, we are family."

Grace replied.

Michelle looked at Vlad and he nodded in approval.

"We have noticed the presence of Italian dogs in our zones... Alexander has attacked one of our warehouse in northern side... We are expecting more, he has threatened to ruin Grace's wedding..."

"What?"

Vera frowned.

"But he doesn't know that Grace is his sister."

"But he does know that he has sister and she is getting married."

Michelle replied.

"Tighten the security specially around the mansion and ladies. Mila will not be a part of any of this, keep her away, keep your eyes on everyone and everywhere... Get a background verification on newly hired guards to avoid spies.

And we need to give him a good lesson again..."

He ordered.

"Don't tell me it means Paris is cancelled."

Grace said.

"You heard him."

Vlad answered.

"But it's a regular thing, they always attack. You can't torture us because of them."

Grace argued.

Vera shook her head knowing that both are stubborn. She was about to walk away but Vlad stopped her.

"Where are you going?"

"Hospital"

She frowned.

"You won't."

He ordered.

"Excuse me?... Vlad, I am a doctor and I have some responsibilities..."

She said madly.

"You two heard me, no arguments."

He ordered.

"But.."

Grace whined.

"I said no arguments, Grace."

Vlad scolded.

Grace got up and kicked the couch she was sitting on.

"Fuck those Italians..."

She cursed and walked inside.

"We need to talk."

Vera glared at him and walked inside.

"All the best!"

Michelle huffed.

"Do they know about Grace?"

Vlad asked.

"No!"

He replied.

"But Dominick is back to work and we got the information that he has only forgotten about Grace. There are high chances that he will regain his memory soon."

"I'll kill him before that..."

Vlad replied.

"It's not that easy, they are protecting him like their own lives... Not to forget that knights are with them."

He replied.

"I don't care about knights, It's just Rose!"

Vlad sighed.

"Rose is friends with Dominick's mother and she always helps them."

Michelle Rolled his eyes.

"I thought women just become friends for kitty parties..."

"Do you even know who Anamika sahay is?"

Vlad asked.

"Wife of former Italian mafia King."

Michelle shrugged.

"Have you heard about the lengend of 'Doom of scorpions."

Vlad asked and Michelle's eyes literally popped out.

"That girl is Alexander's mother?"

He asked in disbelief.

"She survived scorpions, the fucked up bastards?"

"I got to know when I did background check on Marino family... That woman is something. No one survives the brutal torture but she did and not only that but she destroyed everything who dared to touch her without the help of her husband..."

Vlad warned him.

"So they are don't do kitty parties, Michelle. Keep your eyes open because women are always dangerous than men..."

"Women!"

Michelle said.

"Why am I the only one who gets stuck between women like this... Have you seen Mila?"

"Fuck off, I have lot to do."

Vlad said and walked inside to look for Vera.

Everything was going fine and one bad news spoilt it again.

Vlad entered the bedroom and saw Vera getting ready for the hospital. He doesn't want to stop her but he knows that Alexander is looking for a change to hurt her. Vlad has offended and hurt his family so bad that he is paranoid now. Grace and Vera matters so much for him and he will do anything to protect them.

"Vera"

He called her in soft voice.

"Not acceptable, Vlad..."

He noticed panick in her movements.

"You can't do this... It's my career and I have worked day and night to achieve this."

She shook her head.

"Vera, calm down.."

He stepped towards her.

"Everything was okay last night, I thought you are changing... You can't control my life, Vlad... At least not this part of my life..."

Her eyes watered.

"I have patients who trusts me with their lives... Our whole relationship and instability creates instability in their lives too... I am failing as a doctor..."

"You are not failing..."

He pulled her closer despite of her struggles.

"I am not trying to control your life."

He sat down and pulled her on his lap.

"Then what is this?"

She asked and he wiped her tears.

"You know them, they are trying to hurt us..."

He said.

"They always do that... It doesn't mean you will lock your people inside the house..."

She argued.

"They still don't know that Grace is alive, do you realise what they will do after knowing it... I have seen and heard Anamika, she is burning with revenge because of Grace's death..."

"They will never know..."

He replied.

"And you tell me, do they deserve Grace.... They tortured her, that Dominick raped her, forced her to marry him and his mother didn't bother to stop him... And they claim to care about Grace... She was shedding tears of blood in that house.... Thanks to her memory loss otherwise I would have been difficult to bring her out of her trauma... They destroyed my sister and they will pay for it."

"By sacrificing the happiness of your own people... Have you seen the last video of Grace and Dominick?... Grace didn't wanted to be separated from him. It's clear that they were in love.... They had something between them just like us..."

Vera said.

Vlad shook his head.

"I know him... Dominick is a bloodthirsty monster. And don't compare our relationship with them, I never raped you... I know our relationship is dark but it's divine. His is nothing more than lust..."

Vera sighed and closed her eyes.

"I can't compromise with my career... You know it matters to me..."

"You won't..."

He assured.

"Check your mails... And you will realise that you don't need to worry about your career."

Vera looked at him and frowned, she opened her mobile and checked the mail.

Her eyes widened when she read it.

"What the fuck is this?"
