Chapter 60
Cayden:
I was able to track Hailey. I told Noah the plan, and hopefully, it'll be successful. Since Noah, James, Logan, and even Caleb offered to help, I have to at least grab the opportunity so that it'll be easier to catch Trevor and to save Hailey and her mom.
Amelia was left alone in the hospital together with her parents, that will stay the night with her to keep her safe and sound, while on the other hand, I was still driving on the way. Following the GPS of where the location is, somehow, Hailey's phone's location keeps on moving farther and farther, I need to get there soon as possible and fast.
I started driving fast at the speed of light. My phone starts ringing in the seat beside me. I took a glance at the caller ID and looked back on the road. My left hand is on the steering wheel, and my other hand is trying to reach for the phone to answer the call.
"Hello?" I said as I put it on speaker and placed it on the seat beside me. "Noah? What's up?" I asked.
"It's the gang," He said as I scrunch my eyebrows. Gang? "What gang?" I asked.
"Our old gang where Nolan is," Noah says.
"What's up with them?" I asked as I keep on driving.
"It looks like they are helping Trevor to kill Hailey and her mom," He says. "And James isn't coming with us. We haven't seen him since yesterday, and we haven't heard anything from him."
"Forget about him," I said as I started driving faster. I didn't care whether the speed cameras are flashing. All that matters is I save Hailey and her mom. I don't want Trevor nor Nolan, nor the old gang to touch Hailey with their bare hands.
"Cayden, bro?" Noah asks.
I grabbed my phone from the seat beside me and started turning on my location for Noah to track. Once I was done, I placed it back down on the seat beside me.
"I turned on my location. Grab the guys and start driving. Once you arrive at the location, find some spot to hide until I give you the go signal to enter the building," I said.
"Alright. Got you, bro. Drive safe!" Noah says before he ends the call.
***
I arrived at the location. The place seems a bit familiar, and suddenly I remember this is the same abandoned place that me and my old gang used to meet. We used to plan here before we start doing what Nolan wants us to do.
Before I start moving or doing anything. I pulled out my phone from my pocket and turned it into silent mode.
It seems like the owner of the abandoned building hasn't brought it down yet.
I look to my left and at my right side first before entering. Once there were no signs of humans at sight, I started walking my way towards the abandoned building.
Once I walked my way towards the entrance, I look at my left and my right, checking if any guys were guarding and when I saw a huge, bald guy walking towards me. I moved a little farther and grabbed something on the concrete floor to throw and distract him.
I threw the rock on my left, the opposite side of where the stairs are located, which leads me to where Hailey and her mom are. Once the guy ran to follow the sound, I made my way to the stairs and started walking up fast and quietly.
When I made it to the first floor of the abandoned building, I hear a distant voice. I started following the voice, and I hear a familiar voice, "Let's play a little game of death," The guy says. I hid behind the wall and peeked over to where the voice is coming from, and I saw Hailey tied up on the chair and her mom tied opposite her as Trevor stands in front of them, pointing his gun.
"Whoever doesn't answer truthfully, the higher chances of you getting killed," Trevor says. I can feel my blood starting to boil as I try not to rage from the scene in front of me. I can't watch Hailey slowly being tortured to death nor her mom, nor the fact that I might soon see her being shot in her head by a gun.
I unlocked my phone and started texting Noah, giving them a heads up that I'm already present at the building. He texts me back, saying that they just arrived and they parked the car far from the building, where no one can see it.
I called his phone and ended it quickly. It's a sign that they can already enter the building but quietly. Before I can give them the sign to start attacking, I was startled when Trevor started shouting. I peeked again and watched him scream at Hailey.
Answer!" He screams. "No, I don't know what the hell are you talking about!" Hailey says. I can already see how scared she is for her life.
"Wrong answer," Trevor says. I looked at Hailey as she closes her eyes slowly. Is she giving up on her life? "Bye-bye," He Trevor in a sing-song voice.
"Stop!"
Before Trevor can pull the trigger, Nolan steps up and starts walking towards Hailey as Hailey slowly opens her eyes. I can no longer be in this position. I need to start moving before he touches Hailey and does anything to her.
"You're going to kill her already? That's really a shame," Nolan says as he touches Hailey and lifts her chin, "Such a fine lady to die early."
"Sir!" The other bald guy says beside Hailey, holding a baseball bat. "We have been attacked. A gang entered the building," He says as my eyes widen. I told them to be quiet.
"Then, what are you doing standing there? Go!" Trevor shouts at him, "Kill them!" He shouts again as the bald guy starts running towards me as I hide at the corner of the wall where I can't be seen since it is dark here.
"You stay here while I go kill your boyfriend and his friends," Trevor says. "Son!" Trevor shouts. I didn't even know Trevor has a son.
"You and Nolan, come with me. We're going to surprise your old traitor friends," Trevor says as I watch Nolan, Trevor, and... James?! That bastard. I knew he can never be trusted in the first place.
"James?" I hear Hailey says as James stops walking towards the stairs. He turns around and looks at Hailey. "You're Cayden's friend! Why are you doing this behind his back? Especially to me?!"
"You're the reason why my mom died, and Cayden's the only guy who was strong enough to be there for me, but then he left because of his mom, and now he doesn't want to come back because of you! I lost two people in my life because of you!" James screams.
"Now, now, James. What have we talked about earlier?" Trevor says as he tries to calm James down, "Don't mind that bitch, and let's go." He said as they start walking down the stairs as I watch them at the corner.
Once they left, I started running towards Hailey and her mom. "Cayden?" Hailey says. I hushed her down before someone can hear us. I start untying the knot on her hands before the knots on her feet.
"What are you doing here?" She asks as I can't help but roll my eyes at her stupid question.
"Isn't it obvious what I'm doing right now? I'm saving your ass, damn it," I said as I successfully removed all the knots. I walked towards her mom and started undying the knots in her hands-on and her feet, as well.
"It's not safe for you to be here. How did you even enter the building, and how did you find us?" Hailey asks as I stood up from the concrete floor to face her as I grab my phone from my pocket.
"Your phone location is on," I said, and she nods her head as I try to help her stand up from the chair. She was beaten up by Trevor. I grabbed her chin and looked at her features.
"What are you doing?" She asks. "I'm looking for any injuries. You've been beaten up. You need first aid, fast," I told her as she swats away my hand from her face.
"I'm fine."
She said, "You don't look fine," I told her as she rolls her eyes at me.
"I am," She says annoyingly. "Alright," I said as I let go of her, and I watch her collapse on the floor, and I can't help but chuckle, "Oh look, you are fine."
She rolls her eyes at me as I help her stand up from the floor, accompanying her body so that she won't collapse. Her mom stands up from the chair, "Where's your dad? Does he know what happened?"
I looked at Hailey's mom, "No," I said as she nods her head without uttering any word. "Let's get out of here before Trevor comes and—"
"And kills you too," I hear a familiar voice, finishing my sentence. I look up and saw Trevor standing, pointing a gun in my direction as James appears beside him. James looks at me with an odd expression as I look at him, angrily and disappointed.
"I can't believe you're doing this behind my back. I thought you were my friend!" I screamed at James as he chuckles bitterly.
"That's what you thought," He says evilly. "When you left the gang, I followed you and Noah and started a new group because you wanted to burn away and forget all about what has happened with Jason and Maya's family when you are the only reason why Jason and Maya's family died in an accident, and you are the reason why your girlfriend died!"
"You left the gang because of your mom and your sister. You wanted to start your life over again as if nothing happened when all that has happened was transferred to me!" James screams.
"When my mom died because of that girl," He points his finger aggressively to Hailey, "I was miserable. You were the only one who was there but then, you left. So, I followed you like a fucking slave! Now she's also the reason why you don't want to come back because you love her! You fucking love your dad's fiancé's daughter!" He screams louder.
I was dumbfounded. I didn't know that James' mom was Trevor's wife. Hailey looks at me as I look at her. Her eyes start to pool with tears. I look at Hailey's mom as I shake my head, "I'm sorry," I whispered.
"Now, all of you!" James screams as he grabs the gun from Trevor's hand, "Will rot in hell together!" He says as I hear the gunshot went off.
"Cayden!" I hear Hailey's voice as the world starts to spin slowly and as I start to lose my vision a little, "Stay alive, for me!" She cries.
"I love you."
