Chapter 90 Properly Introduce

Chapter 90 Properly Introduce
\[Gianna’s POV\]

I stare at Grant, waiting and watching while he finishes his conversation and only when he hangs up, do I give him a look of disbelief.

“What?” He asks, though I know he knows. “Why are you looking at me like that?”

“Why do you think?”

How could he possibly decide everything with asking me? First with telling my mother and Anthony about us and now with this. Didn’t I have any say?

“This was bound to happen anyway.” Grant tells me and even though I know he is right, I’m still not happy. “Don’t worry.”

As he speaks, he pulls me against him and I feel my traitorous body wanting to relax.

“Don’t think cuddling me will stop me from being angry.” I huff. “How could you do that without consulting me?”

“Did you know you’re adorable when you’re angry?”

Grant.

I was coming to realize this was the way this man functioned and even though I know this is just how he is, I still can’t stop myself from being annoyed.

“You could have waited a bit.” I sigh. “Why do you insist we reveal things so quickly?”

“Because I don’t want you to feel uneasy.”

At his words, my eyes widen and I feel my mood shifting from annoyed to happy, but even then, I keep the scowl I’m wearing.

“I wouldn’t be uneasy.” I huff, but he just gives me a look. “I wouldn’t.”

“Sure, sure,” he laughs, nuzzling my neck. “My Gia is so confident that something so small wouldn’t bother her.”

“Your Gia,” I repeat, shock rushing through me. “Since when…”

“The minute you married me.” He says.

Sighing, I roll my eyes and just shake my head.

“Insufferable.”

“Mmmm,” Grant agrees, gently grabbing my chin and then bringing his lips to mine. “I’m insufferable, but you’re the one who agreed to marry me.”

After that, we find our way to the bedroom where Grant properly shows me how I’m his and I show him how he is mine and by the time we are finished, we fall off the sleep.

The next few days are spent in a similar fashion where Grant and I stay in, enjoy each others company, and indulge in our desires, but by the time the end of the week comes, that bit of peace that we developed disappears completely.

At the end of that wonderful, wonderful week was the dreaded meeting of Grant’s grandfather and father.

On the day of that meeting, I’m all nerves despite Grant’s insistence that everything would be alright. I wanted to believe him. I wanted to feel at ease, but I just couldn’t get over the way Anthony and my mother reacted and I could almost see the two men that we would be meeting would react the same.

No, not the same, they would be much worse because it was already clear that Grant’s father and grandfather expected him to marry Rachel.

“Are you sure about this?” I ask now as Grant and I head toward the large mansion where the two were waiting. “Maybe we should…”

“Grant.”

The voice rings out and as I look in the direction it came from, I see him, the man from the event that Grant and I attended together.

He looks the same as he did that evening with his overpowering aura, his salt and pepper hair, and his gaze that doesn’t even acknowledge me.

Everything is the same as that evening along with the woman who hovers beside him with a look of excitement on her face.

“Grant!” She says like a damned parrot of Grant’s father. “I’ve missed you!”

She doesn’t hesitate to move forward, her arms outstretched ready to wrap around Grant, but to my surprise, he holds up a hand to stop her.

“Rachel,” he says when she comes to a skittering halt. “Mind your distance.”

As he speaks, he slowly snakes an arm around my waist and pulls me against him and when Rachel takes us in, I can see the shock and outrage on her face.

Instantly, the world is thrown into silence as the three of us stand there, Grant at ease, me in unease, and Rachel in shock. It is only when Grant’s father reaches us that the silence dissipates.

“Grant,” he says slowly, his dark gaze shifting to the hand that rests on my hip. “What is this?”

For a moment, Grant doesn’t speak as he watches his father, clearly trying to come up with the proper words to say, and when an easy smile plays across his face, well, I find myself wondering if he is alright in the head.

“Father,” he says now, pulling me closer. “There is someone I’d like to properly introduce you to.”

“Properly introduce,” he repeats, his gaze coming to rest on me. “I do believe I’ve met this woman.”

“You have,” Grant confirms. “You met her as Anthony’s new stepdaughter and as my model, and now, I want to introduce her as my wife.”

At his words, I brace myself as the look of confusion on Grant’s father’s face turns to one of disbelief and then outrage.

“What?” He growls. “What did you just say?”

“You heard me,” Grant responds. “I am introducing you to my wife.”

“Wife,” Grant’s father repeats, his gaze coming to rest on me and I don’t miss the disgust in it. “Do you think this joke is funny?”

“Gr-grant,” Rachel stammers, coming to stand beside his father. “You know that your father has a heart condition. How can you possibly play such a mean…”

“I’m not playing anything.” Grant tells her. “What I’ve said is very much serious. Gianna is my wife and I set asked for this meeting to properly introduce her. Now, since I’ve introduced her to father, I’d also like to do the same with grandfather, where is he?”

As he speaks, Grant starts to look around as if the man in question will appear out of nowhere and when he doesn’t, a look of concern forms on his handsome face.

“Where is grandfather?” He asks, his gaze resting on his father. “Is he inside?”

“He is,” his father responds, though he looks a bit uneasy. “There’s actually something I need to tell you.”

“Then say it,” Grant snaps, turning and leading us toward the mansion. “You can speak while we move.”

“Grant,” his father calls at his retreating form. “Where do you think you’re going?”

“To see grandfather.”
