Chapter 74 Coming Mom
Serena's POV
In the space of 24 hours, I've met my real mother, my second mother, and another potential mother. Only me.
I found myself smiling as the elevator doors finally opened to the floor that had only two rooms.
I made my way over to the one room I was allowed to.
I had never stopped foot into the other, and frankly? I don't even think I want to.
The one room I was allowed into, I was yet to get comfortable with it, why would I want to add another?
I pushed open the door and shut it behind me slowly. I slowly took off my shirt and then the trousers.
My body hurt slightly as I pulled off my clothes. I guess I had my own fair share of the effects from the attacks.
As I stepped into the shower and let the water pour over me, numerous slices and cuts stung terribly.
And when the stinging subsided, a stray thought from earlier ran through my mind.
The moment I had shared with Dante. That uncaged, unplanned, and certainly, real sex we shared at the cave.
I searched my mind for any thoughts leading to that but found none. It was almost like it just happened out of nowhere.
I stepped out of the shower with a towel around my chest to find a tray set on the table with a plate covering what should be my food.
I carried out my usual activities and by the time I was done, I found myself on the bed with my legs pulled up and in nothing by my bikini.
I didn't know how long I laid there, but I stirred to find someone sitting on the edge of my bed.
I thought it was a dream at first, but as my head cleared slightly, I opened my eyes again to see it wasn't.
I blinked repeatedly till the figure of Valentina came to focus as she sat smiling at me.
I pushed myself up gently.
“Careful,” she said as I got to a sitting position.
“How did you get in?” I asked as my mind told me I locked the door.
“You don't lock your doors and it was tempting to watch you sleep,” she replied with a smile.
I ignored how creepy that sounded and focused on the cute part of it.
“What brought you?” I asked.
“Nico wants to move the lady from the hospital to the safe house so I came to inform you to tag along,” she explained.
“Shit,” I cursed, rising to my feet and realizing how weird it was to be standing in nothing but a bikini in front of Valentina.
I threw on a pair of trousers quickly and searched out a good top from the small bundle Dante's helpers had dumped some time back.
I couldn't possibly wear any of those big gowns we had purchased back then.
“You haven't touched your food,” Valentina called from behind.
“Shit… again,” I cursed softly this time. I had forgotten about the food but the mention of it hit differently.
“Let's go, I'll eat when we are back. Not that hungry now,” I lied, cause in truth, I was starving and the mention of the food didn't help it.
Valentina took off the plate covering the food and the scent hit my nostrils immediately.
I didn't know when I started folding up but my tummy grumbled painfully. And like she could hear it, Valentina giggled.
“Are you sure about that?” She asked with a smirk.
She pulled the chair out and set the tray better. “Come eat, I'm sure we can spare another 30 minutes or less,” she offered.
“We don't need to,” I tried to argue even though my legs began carrying me towards the chair without my permission.
“Sure,” she said with a loud giggle as she went behind the chair and pulled it out well before pushing it back when I stood set.
“Besides, it would give me the chance to make sense of whatever is happening on your head,” she added with a laugh as she tugged at a loose strand of hair from my head.
I laughed softly as I dug into the food immediately.
I barely noticed what she was doing to my hair as the food tasted so good.
By the time I was done with the meal, Valentina placed a mirror in front of me.
“Doesn't this look better now?” She teased.
“Of course. And that's all thanks to you,” I smiled up at her.
“How sweet. Now, let's go before Nico regrets standing up for us earlier,” she hurried out.
I smiled and got up, splashing water on my face and drying it softly with my towel before joining Valentina.
I applied a bit of perfume for good measure and we stepped out not long afterwards.
We met Nico at the living room with a tensed up looking Dante.
He had changed up from the dress he was on when we returned but I couldn't say for sure if he had gotten any sleep with the way his eyes looked.
“Sorry for the time taken, I had to get some things set before we could leave,” Valentina said as we got to where they were.
I wanted to interject and say what really happened but one look from her silenced me.
Dante nodded without any word to me and got up, leaving us as he stepped out.
Nico got up a bit lazily afterwards. “Alright, let's go,” he announced as he led us out.
My eyes crossed with the guard of earlier who flashed me a smile but I passed by without a word.
I hope he's not having any ideas.
As we stepped out, Dante's car pulled out and sped off immediately.
“What's going on with him?” I asked in Nico's direction.
“180 billion dollars burnt away can make a man mad,” Nico replied without stopping.
I nodded, realizing he was still on that issue.
A part of me felt guilty, but I knew feeling that way wouldn't change anything, that I just had to help in making everything right.
I stepped into the backseat while Valentina and Nico stepped into the front seats with Nico driving.
Not long afterwards, we hit the road and moved smoothly down the way to the hospital.
My mind kept straying back to Aunt Maria and how much I would love her to have been with me.
We had been driving for about thirty minutes when Nico suddenly brought the car to a stop.
“What happened?” Valentina asked immediately, looking around as her phone nearly dropped from her hand.
“We need to use a different route.”
