Chapter 69 Pinned Down

Chapter 69 Pinned Down
Dante's POV

I tensed up instantly at the roughness of the voice and the similar nature to a voice I very well knew.

I turned slowly to catch the sight of a figure that looked so familiar walking down to me.

Luca Moretti. Marco's little brother.

I immediately reached for the gun in my suit jacket but as I looked down, I spotted a small red dot on my chest.

I froze, slowly lifting my head to find a sniper pointed at me from a truck behind Luca.

“Mr. Russo, it's such a pleasure to see you this morning,” Luca said in a mocking tone as he got closer.

He stopped right in front of me and dipped his hands in his pocket.

“You love the view?” He asked with a smile, gesturing towards the ruins of what used to be my warehouse.

I stepped forward angrily and he took a step back with his two hands in the air.

“I would be careful if I were you,” he teased with a smirk, pointing to my chest at what I believed to be the sniper dot.

I folded my fist, willing to take the risk but stopped after I noticed he wasn't alone.

There were at least 10 men behind him and all were heavily armoured.

“Besides, would be a shame if you have to lose your right hand man so soon,” he added with a smile, pointing towards my left.

I turned slowly to find Nico being held by one of his men with a gun to his head.

“By the way, thanks Nico. You brought him straight to us,” Luca said again.

“You fucking liar!” Nico yelled, earning him a heavy blow to his gut.

“Be careful, won't want to do anything silly,” Luca replied with a smirk.

“What do you want?” I asked through gritted teeth as I stepped back a bit.

“Now you're talking,” he exclaimed. “It appears to me that you have something of mine in your possession,” he added with a smile.

“You own nothing asides drugs you retard,” I shot back.

He laughed, mocking me with his unamused laugh. “Never thought of you to be a thief, Dante. You've already begun dragging the Russo name to the mud,” he shot back.

I nearly lost it at that. I could just about hold myself from reaching out for his neck.

“Be careful how you talk to me, Luca,” I said through gritted teeth. “It won't take anything from me to strangle you to death with a bullet in my chest.”

Luca threw his arms in the air, feigning fear. “Oh shit, I'm so scared,” he said before giggling. “You think I'm scared of you?” He added, stepping closer to me and getting right into my face.

I locked my jaw and folded my firsts, restraining myself from endangering Nico's life.

“Get the fuck away from me, Luca,” I spat out rather.

“With pleasure,” he remarked, stepping back with a big smile on his face. “But first, I need the girl,” he added.

“The fuck are you talking about?” I muttered even though I knew the answer.

“Oh come on, don't tell me a few days in Peru has you acting like a child,” he replied without missing a beat.

I nodded without making a move as it was obvious he was trying to rile me up at this point.

“Serena, Dante. I'm here for Serena, now hand her the fuck over,” he exclaimed.

“Not happening,” I spat out.

He smiled. “I expected that. Boys, bring her for me!” He yelled.

“Shield the jet!” I yelled with all I'd got left and in seconds, the jet's defense came to live.

Luca smiled nonetheless. “Isn't this the point where your bravery becomes foolishness?” He asked with a smirk.

I still didn't respond.

“Come on,” he called out. “ Look around you Dante. You are losing everything to this war, a war that isn't yours in the first place,” he added.

I flexed my jaw as it was hard to argue with that.

“I mean, you've lost your men, you've lost your dad's big money jet, and now? You've lost your warehouse with over 180 billion dollars worth of goods in it,” he called on with a smirk.

And with every word, my walls of defense cracked open slowly. He was right.

I've lost too much in this war and now, losing 180 billion dollars worth of goods felt like the final nail.

It took all my willpower to keep standing. If he's right about the valuation, then it means the new goods had been delivered as they were scheduled for yesterday.

“And you wanna know how I do know all these?” He asked.

I didn't bother responding cause I knew he would tell me anyway.

“I'll tell you. We've been keeping tabs on you and felt that the best way to welcome you to Peru was to bring you down the only way we knew how to,” he explained with a crazy laugh.

He was behind the attacks in Peru then. Fucking retard.

“We also took the pleasure of waiting till you had your goods delivered before burning it all down. That was nice right?” He added with a laugh.

“You fucking maggot. You'll pay for all these!” I spat out.

And he laughed out again, burning up my insides. “To be fair, Dante. This is all within my right. You see, you of all people should know the value of the woman you keep from me,” he started.

I shook my head, already knowing where he was heading.

“You see, the moment she put a bullet in my precious brother's head, she made herself a slave to me and the more you keep her from me, the more I have the right to do anything I want. Including,” he paused, stepping towards me. “Putting a bullet in your head,” he added, hitting my chest with his finger.

“You can't kill me,” I said slowly.

“Maybe,” he said dramatically with a shrug of his shoulders. “But I can burn down everything you own till you lawfully hand over what belongs to me,” he added.

I folded my fist and glanced at Nico, then at the men behind Luca.

“Tell me, Dante. Is she worth losing everything your father built?” He asked like he already knew the answer.

And crazy enough, I knew the answer too.

Serena's POV

This can't be happening.

I could barely see through the thick walls of metal that had covered the jet, but from what I could see, Dante was pinned.

Luca, that crazy son of a bitch had Dante looking helpless.

And the crazy part? We never saw him coming.

I knew I had to do something, if not, it would either Dante or I.

I took a deep breath to steady myself. I had locked my mom in the infirmary the moment I noticed what was happening.

I could call for help, but who do I know?

I immediately searched around and found a gun at one of the lockers.

Great, at least I have something to hold. But who am I kidding? I can't use this shit.

I immediately ran to the cockpit and whispered to the pilot who looked scared as shit. “What are we going to do?”

I immediately regretted asking as he looked to be more tense than Dante.

“I don't know,” he managed to reply.

“Can't you like shoot with this thing?” I asked, gesturing to the jet's controls.

“I can, but it would take at least a minute or two before I can get the jet up and running, and from the looks of things, that's just enough time for Luca to put a bullet in Don,” he explained.

I looked around, panicking as I watched them through the security camera. Then, I spotted a point which gave me a crazy idea.

“I have a plan,” I said out loud. “But I'll need your help.”
