Chapter 108 Him Again

Chapter 108 Him Again
Serena's POV

I hadn't expected it to say the least, didn't even know she had my number.

Maybe that's why it touched deeper than it should.

It was an unexpected message from a probably expected person.

Valentina.

Two messages actually… the first had come around the time Dante had stormed into my room.

“Serena, don't let whatever he says or does get to you. Be safe.”

I smiled, the message probably would have been better before everything.

Then I scrolled down to the second message that came in this morning.

“Serena, good morning. I hope you are alright, I'll come check on you later.”

I smiled, she always had her eyes out for me, a complete contrast to how all these started.

I smiled as I read over the message again, but the smile faded as I checked the next message.

It was from the unknown number. I nearly felt like not opening it as whatever he had said hours ago would mean nothing to me.

But I couldn't stop myself as I had already seen it.

“Don't go, Dante has men watching every nook of the street. You'll be spotted.”

I smiled at the message, shaking my head. This would have really been helpful from the very start.

I guess that's how he found out and he obviously had contact with the doctor, so it was all a walk in the park for him.

I turned off my phone painfully, placing it back down as it did nothing but remind me of everything I didn't want to remember.

I folded up and stared down at the floor, clutching my tummy to rile up the pain.

A few minutes later, a knock sounded on my door, pulling me from my thoughts.

I looked up and without waiting for me, whoever it was pushed the door right open.

It was Valentina, she popped her head through with half her body and a tray which was carrying a plate of food.

“Hii, just came to check on you,” she called out as she walked in.

“Valentina!” I exclaimed happily. “Come on right in.”

She smiled and stepped through the doors with the tray carefully placed in her hand.

She then placed the tray carefully between us and sat at the other side of it.

“I got your texts,” I announced as she sat.

The look on her face dropped immediately and her eyes looked over my body.

“I'm sorry about last night,” she muttered, placing a hand on my shoulder.

“Hey, it's fine. You didn't do anything, if anything, I'm the one who caused everything,” I replied softly.

“No, I should have guided you better, I shouldn't have let you take that decision,” she countered.

“You did, but I didn't listen to you. I listened to—”

I paused there, realizing she didn't know about the mysterious number and I was about to spill it out.

“You were listening to?” Valentina asked inquisitively.

I swallowed slightly, realizing that I'd put myself in a tight situation and had to think

“I listened to myself, to my emotions. I didn't think through everything, I didn't act logically, I just moved. And got what I deserved,” I replied.

Valentina hummed gently, and for a moment, she didn't look like she would believe me.

Then she nodded carefully before pushing the tray towards me gently.

“Let's not dwell on that. Here, I brought you something to eat,” she said softly.

I smiled and pulled off the cover. The first thing that hit me was the weirdly large amount of eggs and fruits in the meal.

I gave her a funny look and she shrugged.

“I guessed you'll need hydration and proteins,” she replied with a smile and I knew she had an idea what had happened.

I smiled and tilted my head to the side. “How sweet of you,” I said warmly and took the plate in hand.

I didn't know how hungry I was till I started eating, and I didn't stop after taking the first bite till I was left with a tiny piece.

I felt stuffed but didn't want to stop going.

“You good?” Valentina asked as I looked like I would faint.

I smiled and shook my head. “Just a bit more.”

I kept going till I finished the meal and dropped the plate, offering her a cheeky smile.

She shook her head and took one of the fruits.

I sent water in after the food and joined her with the fruits. I took a couple before giving up on anything that looked like food.

“I can't take it again,” I whined and dropped back on the bed.

She laughed and arranged everything together.

“You must have really been hungry,” she teased as I laid flat on the bed, not bothering to cover myself.

“Tell me about it,” I exclaimed, flapping my hands around.

I laid there and didn't know when sleep took over my body, only to jolt back awake when the sun had changed color.

I sat up immediately, feeling less pain now than before and looked around to see I was alone.

Valentina must have gone when I fell asleep, and she left with the tray.

I shook my head, feeling a bit better now after that meal and rest.

I pushed myself to my feet and was proud how much easier I accomplished that.

I walked around a bit, feeling a lot lighter now than before.

I decided to take a quick shower to match my physical look with how I felt inside.

I let my robe fall softly to the ground before walking into the shower room.

I stepped under the shower and let the water pour on me without doing anything for about 10 minutes.

Then I gently scrubbed my body with soap, reaching every part of my body u could and ensuring I left no where untouched.

I rinsed and scrubbed again, remembering how he had spilled his insides on me twice and suddenly felt the need to wash up again.

And when I'd taken another 30 minutes or so, I stepped out with a towel around my body feeling completely new.

I took more time today to apply things I never did and massage my cream into my skin.

I did other unnecessary skin care stuff, going the extra mile to change the sheet over my bed.

I cleaned the floor where I could and when I felt everything matched my mind, I dropped back on my bed.

It didn't take up to five minutes before the door slid open slowly.

My first thought was that Valentina had returned to check on me again.

But no, I stood to be corrected as the one person my body dreaded to see walked right in.
