12. I'll be here, waiting
Keira’s POV.
I was going through the last of my assignments when I heard the doorbell ring. Brendon had arrived for our movie night.
I did not think he would make it considering the sky’s downpour that made me want to drink something hot and snuggle in bed. But that was just Brendon; he would show up for anything that involved me. I closed my laptop and opened the front door to let him in.
He was wet and dripping all over my carpet.
"Could you not have used an umbrella, at least?" I ask. "Stay still. You are getting water all over the place."
"I was already halfway here when the rain started," he said as I grabbed a mop, cleaning out maps of water on the floor. "Could not turn around. Your place was closer to mine, and Natasha is not in?"
"She is asleep and would not be joining us. Had a long day at school."
"So it is just you and me, huh?"
I saw a smile on his face, wondering what was so amusing. He moved to sit on a couch when he had dried entirely off and turned on the tv, flipping through the channels.
They were all unstable because of the bad weather.
"Did you decide on a movie yet?" Brendon called out to me in the kitchen, my head buried deep in the freezer and searching for my beer cans. I never ran out of them, but it seemed today was unlucky because they were nowhere in sight. When was the last time I went alcohol shopping?
"Actually, yeah. It is an old one but worth it nonetheless. Natasha picked it out herself, and too bad she would not be here to see it." I walked back to him, holding a bottle of red wine and two glass cups. "Wine?"
He takes a cup from my hands, letting me fill it halfway. "If Tasha picked it out, it is guaranteed it will be good. You suck at choosing movies."
I was not even offended because he was right. We all dozed off thirty minutes into a movie I had picked at our last movie night and the one before. "Whatever. Let us sit back and enjoy the movie."
I pried the remote away from his grip and tuned into my Netflix account.
"Do you think we should turn off the lights for a better cinematic experience?" I heard him ask.
"Leave the lights on, Brendon."
"You are no fun."
Everywhere was quiet again until the movie started; cue the Netflix logo on my TV. I feel the wine slowly begin to course through my veins, enjoying the ecstatic feeling from it. The main character from the movie oddly reminds me of myself. Brendon and I share a knowing look.
A full-blown sex addict. Yeah, Natasha did this on purpose.
A steamy scene with the main character and a model-looking girl with tits so perky took over the tv screen. He nibbled on her inner thigh before his tongue met her core, eliciting a deep moan from her.
How I wished I could get Clint’s lips on me that way. If only he would quit taking that therapist/client bullshit seriously and do wicked things to me. I knew he wanted to. His eyes spoke of great hunger whenever they stared at me.
The man’s fingers replaced his tongue on her pussy, stroking it ever so deeply, and I almost moaned along with her, casting Brendon a side glance. He was staring at me. Was this awkward for him?
I snatched the remote that sat between us. "I can change this if you do not feel comfortable."
"No. I like it this way." The way he held my gaze made it almost impossible for me to look away. "Does it make you uncomfortable?"
I shook my head. "No."
"What about this?" I held my breath when he ran his thumb over my lower lip, my eyes following the movement of his finger.
"No," I breathe out. It was the alcohol speaking, and I needed to stop it, or I might fail at Clint’s advice, giving in to my raw desires and acting on impulse.
I saw Brendon move closer, and I immediately put a hand on his chest to stop him from kissing me.
"What is wrong?" he asked, his eyes searching my face. "Why did you change your mind?"
"I am going to therapy because of stuff like this. Do not make me throw it all away in one night."
"Oh." Something flashed in his eyes, and he moved back. I could not tell what it was. "Okay. It is fine. We are cool. Are we not?"
"We are always cool, silly." I playfully shove at his arm, hoping it would quench the awkwardness. Brandon only smiled and returned his attention to the movie. Thankfully, the sex scenes ended, and everyone was fully clothed again. No bouncy tits all up in the camera or bare asses.
The rain still poured by the time the movie was over. Brandon could not leave in that state, and not even by that time of the night.
"Do not worry about me." He took off his shoes and laid back on the couch. "This would not be my first time crashing on your couch."
"Do you need a blanket? I could get you a blanket."
"There is no need for that."
I rolled my eyes. "Shut it. You will use a blanket if you do not want to freeze before morning because, in case you have not noticed, our heater is broken." Just thinking of my dad's reaction if he realized that his little princess was living without a heater made me chuckle as I went to my room.
"Okay, mum."
I returned seconds later with a blanket and threw it onto his lap. "Use that."
"Keira," he called for me on the way to my room, and I turned around.
"What?"
Brendon seemed hesitant before speaking up. "I will be here after you are done with therapy."
I was not sure what he meant by that, but I nodded in response and softly closed my bedroom door behind me.
