Chapter 297 The Adams Family's Banquet Invitation

Charles firmly refused, "No way, I'm swamped. You go instead."

Ruby hesitated, "But..."

Before she could finish, Charles cut her off, "I've got a meeting. If there's nothing else, I'm hanging up."

Ruby sighed, "Alright then."

Charles decisively hung up the phone, tossing it onto his desk and rubbing his head with one hand.

Meanwhile, at the Adams family home, Ruby listened to the busy signal on the phone and reluctantly put it down.

She sighed softly, and Kismet, who was about her age, came over curiously, "What did Mr. Montague say? Is he coming?"

Ruby glanced at her and shook her head slightly, "No, he said he's going on a business trip in ten days and doesn't have time to come."

Kismet frowned, "He's that busy? Can't he spare an hour or two?"

Ruby sighed, "You know, the entire Montague Group needs Charles to manage it. He's really busy, and he's very career-focused. I can't persuade him."

Kismet nodded silently, knowing Ruby was right, and furrowed her brow in thought.

After a moment, she looked up, "How about I talk to my family and see if we can hold the event a few days earlier?"

Ruby's eyes lit up, "That would be great, but would it mess up your plans?"

Kismet waved her hand and smiled, "It shouldn't. I'll discuss it with my family."

The Adams family returned to Silverlight City to develop their business and to find a suitable match for Kismet's granddaughter, Flora Adams.

Flora had high standards and hadn't found anyone she liked yet.

In all of Silverlight City, only Charles could catch Flora's interest.

Although Charles had been divorced twice and had two children, the custody of those children was with his ex-wife, Grace.

Grace was foolish to let go of such a good man like Charles.

If Flora and Charles got together, their children would be the rightful heirs of the Montague family.

All the Montague family's assets would belong to Flora and her children.

As for Grace and her two kids, they wouldn't get a dime from the Montague family!

If Flora and Charles could be together, they could hold the event tomorrow if needed!

Ruby smiled, "Alright, discuss it with your family. Once the date is set, I'll inform Charles. If he has time, he should attend."

Kismet's eyes brightened, "Ruby, thank you so much."

Ruby waved her hand, "No need to thank me. We've grown up together, don't be so polite."

Kismet quickly picked up a teacup, "Here, this is tea I brought back specially. Try it."

Ruby smiled and took a sip.

She was happy to help the Adams family. If the marriage between the Adams and Montague families happened, she would benefit greatly.

She was eager to make it happen, especially since she had always disliked Grace.

Grace was so arrogant to divorce Charles!

She thought too highly of herself, and somehow managed to get custody of the two kids!

Those kids were Montagues, and Grace was foolish to take them away!

Early in the morning, a black business car was parked in front of Grace's villa.

Grace didn't need to guess; she knew Charles had arrived, probably aware that the kids were on vacation.

They had just finished breakfast, and the two kids were excitedly craning their necks to look outside.

They had gone out with Charles a few times and had a great time, so they were eager to go out with him again.

Grace was dressing Bianca in a thick down jacket, hat, and gloves.

Bianca pouted, urging her, "Mom, hurry up and get dressed. Let's go out together."

Grace smiled, gently touching Bianca's face, "Sweetie, I have things to do today. I can't go out with you. You and Jasper go ahead, the sooner you go, the sooner you'll be back."

Bianca pouted, "Mom, why do you always have things to do? I want you to come with us."

Grace sighed, still smiling at her.

Jasper, already dressed, came over and took Bianca's hand, "Mom has things to do. Let's not bother her. Let's go, Dad said he's taking us skiing today."

Bianca's eyes lit up at the mention of skiing.

She let Jasper lead her out, glancing back at Grace.

Grace sighed, watching their small figures leave and get into the car before turning away.

With the kids gone, the villa became quiet.

Grace felt a bit out of place and decided to go to paint and clear her mind.

But her phone rang the next moment.

She checked it and saw a message from Asher, saying the Adams family was returning to Silverlight City and hosting an event next Wednesday. The Adams family head was a renowned art collector and had invited several artists, including her. He wanted to know if Grace could attend.

Grace squinted, thinking about the Adams family and its head.

She remembered her grandparents mentioning the Adams family, which was once on par with the Montague family. The Adams family had focused on overseas markets and lived abroad for years.

Her grandparents knew about the Adams family but had no contact with them.

Her grandmother had said Kismet was proud and only associated with families of equal status, looking down on smaller families like theirs.

But her grandparents had a high opinion of the Adams family head.

After recalling this, Grace hesitated to accept the invitation when Asher sent another message: [Grace, the Adams family head called me personally. He really wants to meet you. It's rare for him to invite someone personally. The Adams family is influential in Silverlight City. I hope you can attend and represent our art association.]

Grace bit her lip, reading Asher's words carefully, and finally agreed: [Alright, I'll attend.]

Time passed, and evening came.

The sun set, and the black business car drove smoothly down the road.

In the back seat, Charles sat straight, holding a sleeping Bianca.

Next to him, Jasper was also dozing off.

Soon, the car stopped in front of the villa.

Charles woke Jasper and carried the sleeping Bianca out of the car.

As soon as they got out, Mia ran from the yard, taking Bianca from Charles and smiling, "Mr. Montague, I'll take Bianca inside. You can go ahead."

With that, Mia carried Bianca into the yard.

Jasper stood there, looking up at Charles.

Charles gazed into the villa, his eyes deep and gentle.

Jasper rubbed his eyes, "Do you want to see Mom? Do you want to come in with me?"

Charles frowned, "Kids shouldn't talk so much. Go inside."

Jasper glared at him, "You're such a coward."

Before Charles could react, Jasper turned and walked away.

Charles stood there, his eyes darkening. That brat!

Calling him a coward! If he hadn't walked away so quickly, Charles would have given him a good scolding!

Watching Jasper's small figure disappear, Charles turned and got back into the car.

His eyes were somber.

He really was a coward. He didn't go in because he didn't want Grace to be upset. He wanted her to be happy.

He sighed softly, "Let's go."
