The Brother Time forgot
“Are we going to die?” Zara heard one of the other Pirates’ ask, as the Dragon breathed heavily his eyes narrowed on the Captain.
“No, we’re not going to die!” Aariz screeched his voice had a slight twinge of panic within it, spurring Zara into action, she pulled herself up using one of the ropes, until she was high enough to be in the Dragon’s line of sight.
“We mean you no harm!” She shouted, waving her hands around much to Nasir’s chagrin as he stared at her in horror.
“What the hell are you doing!” he hissed.
“Apparently making sure we get destroyed by dragon fire.” Aariz muttered, as he moved to where Nasir stood, both of them looking up at where Zara was currently rolling her eyes at them. She grabbed the post suddenly as the Dragon shifted to a more sitting position as he watched her with golden eyes.
He huffed deeply, his dragon breath becoming an almost gale-force wind against them, the sails of the ship rising enough that the ship moved off the Dragon’s belly. The Dragon itself shook itself off and dived back down into the water.
Zara watched her eyes narrowed as she watched the shadow of his body roam around the ship before it went back under and then disappeared. There was a slight movement at the side of the ship, and then a lanky man climbed aboard. His golden eyes, showing clearly that he was the dragon that had just lifted the ship. “Who speaks as this Ship’s Captain?” He asked his accent sharp. He threw down a staff heavily on the ship, as he walked toward where Zara was his head tilted.
“Why do you look familiar?” He asked with a frown. Zara jumped down from where she’d climbed landing heavily on Nasir before she straightened and faced the Dragon.
“I am Zara of the Beshumaar Kingdom, sister to the Queen Zaya the Patient.” Zara stated.
Nasir frowned. “The patient?”
“She spent ten years turning into a monster before acting,” Zara replied turning to give Nasir a glare before looking back at the Dragon. “So, patience.”
The Dragon narrowed his eyes at her, “You seem rather impertinent for a mortal being facing a Dragon.”
“You aren’t the first Dragon I’ve met.” Zara replied, a knowing smirk gracing her face as a sharp roar was heard in the grotto.
Zara smiled as the Dragon slowly turned a frown on his face. “Ah.” He murmured. “Seraphina the Spiteful.”
He watched for a moment as Seraphina did a circle around the ship before landing in front of them, a wave of violet energy flying out of her wings as she landed. The other Dragon scowled, as the magic swept over him angry scrapes appearing on his face and neck as if the magic had clawed his very skin. The marks faded just as quickly as they appeared, the Dragon’s glare deepening as he stared at Seraphina furiously.
“You are trespassing.” He barked. The pirates around him seemed to shift nervously at his words. No one on Aariz’s ship really felt like being barbequed, after narrowly missing a trip to the underworld.
“For the last time Llyr. Just because your name means sea does not mean any treasure on the sea belongs to you!” Seraphina shrieked.
The pirates raised their eyebrows at her words. “Um, do you know this, Dragon?” Aariz asked.
Seraphina scowled darkly. “This unfortunate twat was in the same nest as me.” she growled.
Zara’s eyes widened. “He’s your brother?”
“Unfortunately,” both siblings replied turning to Zara before going back to glaring at each other.
“Hopefully you can solve this without, bursting into flames?” Aariz asked, “My ship is made out of wood.”
Seraphina closed her eyes breathing deep enough that smoke trails flew out of her ears. “We should talk.”
Xoxoxoxox
“The Dragon Pearl?” Llyr asked.
After both dragons had relocated on the shore, just in case they did end up fighting, Llyr seemed in much better spirits. “I cannot be sure if it is in this particular Dragon horde, but I can help you look.”
Seraphina sighed. “I would be grateful for your assistance.”
Llyr looked back at the ship, curiosity gleaming in his eyes. “What’s with the pirates?”
“The Queen of Beshumaar elected for them to help me.”
“Since when do you need help of Queen’s?”
“Since I was trapped in the monster realm for little over than a decade.”
Llyr looked at her with surprise. “You were?”
“I was.”
“I had thought you were still running with mercenaries, but the rumors of your powers?”
“Being stolen? Those were true.” Seraphina murmured, transforming back to her dragon form, and laying down on the sand her head resting along her scaled arms. “I’ve gotten most of my powers back.”
“But not all? That’s not very much like you,” Llyr murmured. “My sister has always been fearless and stubborn. Spiteful.”
“In getting my powers back I also endured a blood bargain.”
“What kind of bargain.”
Seraphina grinned. “The one you would hate the most.”
Llyr gaped at her. “You’re married?”
“Yes, and that being said, technically as my brother you would owe me a wedding present.”
“I’m not going to like this very much, am I?”
“The pirates have endured much, searching for this treasure.” She hedged.
Llyr rolled his eyes. “They cannot take everything.” He demanded.
“Obviously,” Seraphina murmured, raising up and flying back to the ship as Llyr angrily muttered and dived back down to the sea, his body transforming as he hit the water.
Aariz looked up at Seraphina flying in a circle, around them. Her voice drifting down to them. “It is done. Follow me.”
