RAW BLOOD
RAW BLOOD
Chapter 170
Claudia's pov.
Our descent was short-lived as I pushed away from Croft and luckily he let me loose. My body collided with the floor painfully as I rolled to a stop.
The air was knocked out of my lungs and the sound of bones cracking filled my ears.
I was breathing heavily as the impact was so strong I could feel my bones shattering.
I lifted my gaze lazily and stared at croft who was already struggling to get back up on his feet while I did the same.
It would take longer for my powers to mend a broken bone, my strength was waning and I felt like the energy had been sniffed out of me, bruised and battered. I was not losing this.
Croft staggered on his feet but something wasn't right, the way he behaved.
Seconds later, I shifted back to my human form, “Croft, you need to stop now, give it up now while you still can,” I choked out, pushing my messy hair backwards with my working hand.
Croft's gaze flickered between their bloodshot demon eyes and his regular brown eyes, but his glare was prominent every single time, "It's not over…..until I say it's over,” he growled menacingly.
Something felt odd with his behaviour, his fur began to dwindle, showing off a human arm with a beast's head, it kept growing and reversing.
Croft let out a large screen, “What did you do to me?” Scratching at his skin with sharp claws, so much so he began to bleed in those areas.
I didn't understand what was going on with him, the way he behaved, like something was eating him from the inside.
His eyes bleed out in tears, falling to his knees, his wolf form had completely vanished and he had reverted back to his human form, stack naked and covered in blood.
I didn't think I had done anything to him, but when he turned around, it looked like a part of his neck was blacked as though infected.
That was the spot I had bitten him.
Would I react in the same way as well?
The fear was instilled in my heart and I did a body check just in case, but other than the bruises from the fight and broken limb I was alright.
He scratched at that spot as well, despite it already being gorged with clotted blood, “Noo….Nooo,”
“What's going on?” I questioned, taking a careful step towards him, not to close but close enough.
There was a look of fear in his eyes which was a first and it scared me, his face twisted in agony, the veins at the nape of his neck bulged and it looked like he could barely breath.
“What can I do to help? What's going on? I screamed for the second time, genuinely worried that he was going to die, despite all he had done, he was still a living being.
I hated the thought of death, especially when I was the cause behind it.
My hands trembled as I stared at him in horror while he went through excruciating pain, “It's……. your venom,” he choked out.
My venom?
"What are you talking about, I don't have a venom,” I informed him but he insisted anyway.
His condition was only worsening as his screams shattered the still and cold night, “Help….me,”
“How do I help you? What's the antidote?” I was lost, confused and terrified, how could I have done something like this to him.
I limped forward and watched how his skin began to peel off, mumbled words fell from his lips yet made no sense.
The scene was gory, terrifying to say the least and there was nothing I could do about it, there was no one present at this part of the castle to help.
Where was sage when you needed her.
I might hate Croft for all he had done, that didn't mean I wanted him dead. Death was never the answer and I regretted every single soul that I had taken away.
Their life had become short because I couldn't control my rage, I wasn't able to control the beast inside. My eyes stung at the side as I gazed on in confusion while he struggled.
I was inches away from him now while he laid flat on his back.
A cruel laugh tore from his throat, “Your blood was raw, unrefined,”
His words dropped slowly, weak, as though tired, “It's like poison to my system, the very thing that makes you………you,” a hand full of blood wretched out of his throat in a fit of cough and a cruel chuckle followed after, “Who would have thought my plan would have failed,”
So this was because of me?
“Well if you hadn't done all of this, it wouldn't be ending this way,” I fought back the tears, feeling exhausted, my legs gave out from under me and I fell to his side.
Croft shook his head
A dry chuckle tore through his lungs as he stared up at the high sky, a defeated look on his face, “I was meant to rule, always have,”
“It was my destiny to unite the wolves again, to freeze us from the bondage of secrecy not just from the witches but from the humans as well, we were a superior species,” croft entered a fit of cough.
I shook my head at his words, “That wasn't for you to decide,” I dragged out, remembering all he had done just for power, control.
I shouldn't feel remorse for him, but I couldn't help myself.
“The witches nor the humans were never the problem,” if he hadn't started any of this, perhaps there would still be a sense of peace which everyone lived by.
Croft twisted his head towards me loosely, blood trickled down the side of his lips, “Guess what?”
I leaned in closer, his voice was quiet, a whisper in the night.
“I would do it over again,”
