Chapter Three
Grace had gone to the toilet, and I was standing by my locker waiting for her. I was texting my friends from my hometown when suddenly I heard someone clear their throat. I lifted my head from my phone to see a handsome boy standing in front of me with a smile on his face. He was wearing a football jacket, so I assumed that he was a football player. His baby blue eyes and blond hair made him look cute. I lifted my eyebrows as he didn't say a word and just stood there looking at me.
"Uh, hi,” I said awkwardly and smiled hesitantly. He smiled and leaned on the locker next to mine.
"Hi, I'm John,” he said in a friendly tone that made me more comfortable. "So, you're the hot new kid?” he asked with a wink.
"Yeah, I'm the new kid,” I said avoiding the word hot and he chuckled.
"You did a great thing this morning with Brittany.,” He lifted his hand for a high five. I high fived him and laughed. "You look damn hot and attractive when you're angry,” he said with a wink, and I looked at him with wide eyes.
"Thank you, I guess,” I said and then Grace walked up to us.
"Hey John!” Grace said happily. "Guess that you've met my cousin Kim.,”
"Yeah,” John replied and walked beside us. We walked to the cafeteria, and since I didn't know where we were going to sit, I followed behind Grace. She walked to the middle of the cafeteria and motioned me to come. Chase and a girl were already sitting there. Grace sat down and John did the same. I sat next to Grace and waited for them to talk.
"So, Kim, this is my cousin Kylie.,” Chase presented his cousin. The girl looked at me with a shy smile.
"Hey!” I said.
"So, what's the plan today?” Chase asked as he shoved some chips in his mouth.
"I wanna go to a night club,” Grace said.
"It's Monday today,” I stated.
"Thank you for telling us,” John said as if I was dumb.
"No, I mean, I don't think your mom's gonna let us go out during the weekday,” I told her, ignoring John's comment.
"I'm just going to tell her that to celebrate your arrival and first day at school, our friends decided to go out tonight,” she replied with a shrug as if it was easy. I had to admit that it is a pretty good plan. Knowing Aunt Lucy, I know that she would accept it since she was ready to do anything to make me feel comfortable.
"So, night club tonight?” Kylie asked, though it was more like she was confirming it.
"Guess yeah,” I replied, and everyone nodded in agreement. Just then, Aaron sat next to me. Damn, he smelled so good. I took a deep breath and opened my eyes.
"So, we're going to the club tonight?” he asked. I don't know why but I felt intimidated by him. I didn't reply but stole some chips from Chase's plate who was looking at me with amusement. Grace nodded and looked around.
"Where's your bitchy girlfriend?” Grace asked Aaron and I smiled at the name.
"She must be around,” Aaron replied as if he didn't care.
"Why don't you break up with her?” Chase asked him and Aaron looked taken aback by this question. He ran his hand in his hair and exhaled.
"I can’t,” he simply said.
"Why? You don't love her. Fuck. You don't even like her!” Grace said glaring at Aaron. I looked at them and waited for him to reply. I was glad that he didn't have feelings for Brittany.
"Grace,” Aaron said in a low tone. "Drop it.”
Grace huffed in annoyance.
"Well,” John said awkwardly. "Tell us more about you, Kim.”
Grace laughed, knowing that I hated attention. Aaron was looking at me and seemed really interested.
"Well, one thing you really should know about me is that I hate talking about me,” I told John who shrugged and chuckled.
"She likes singing, dancing, and is really hot tempered. Her parents work for famous magazines. She loves my annoying brother and spoils the hell out of him. And she posed—” Just as Grace was about to continue, I threw a chip at her and gave her a deadly glare. I knew what she was about to say.
"And?” Aaron asked impatiently.
"And nothing,” I answered quickly. "Oh yes, and I hate your bitchy girlfriend,” I said giving him a sweet, sarcastic smile. I quickly looked away from his eyes. He smirked and shook his head.
"Excuse me?” asked that same annoying voice from behind me. Aaron cursed while I rolled my eyes and turned to look at Brittany.
"I told him,” I said motioning to Aaron who was sitting beside me, "that I hate his bitchy girlfriend.,” Chase and Grace were trying to stifle their laughter. John and Kylie were looking at Brittany as if she was a monster. I rolled my eyes at their reaction.
"Aaron!” Brittany said angrily. "You should be defending me,” she yelled at him. Aaron inhaled and turned to look at me.
"Kim, Brittany isn't a bitch,” Aaron said monotonously. I glared at him, and Grace cursed him under her breath.
"And you're not whipped,” I said sarcastically before standing up and walking away. I hated the fact that I was feeling so damn attracted to him and he was simply doing what the bitch told him to. As I walked away, I bumped into Brittany purposely and glared at him.
"He’ll never be yours,” Brittany whispered angrily.
"I don't even want him,” I said out loud and everyone from the table turned to look at us. Aaron was looking at me with wide eyes. "What gave you the idea that I was interested in Aaron?” I asked through gritted teeth. "I'm sorry but being a bitch is apparently your task not mine.,” I tried to control my anger. With that, I turned on my heels and walked out of the cafeteria. I didn't want to deal with Brittany right now.
My first day was a total disaster. I walked down the corridor and took out my earphones and put them in my ears. I let the music burst in my ears as it was the only thing that could really calm me right now. I walked outside and found a bench. I sat on it and watched the students who were either walking and gossiping or simply relaxing. The music was really calming me. I closed my eyes for a few seconds but then felt someone sit next to me. I silently prayed that it wasn’t Brittany and Aaron. I turned to find John and Chase. I looked at them questioningly.
"To tell you the truth, I was expecting Grace,” I said, and they chuckled.
"Yeah, Kylie and Grace were coming then we decided to come instead of them,” John explained.
"Don't bother yourself with Brittany,” Chase told me with a reassuring smile.
"She's a bitch,” John said as I chuckled. He threw his arms over my shoulder as if we'd been best friends forever.
"I know,” I told him, and this time Chase chuckled.
"Don't let her get to you,” Chase said. "As for Aaron, don't hate him.,”
"I don't care about Aaron,” I quickly lied. "I just hate how the bitch talks to me.,” We sat there, talking and laughing at random jokes that John said. They were really cool, and Chase was like a big brother while John would keep on flirting with me. I never thought that they would spend the rest of lunch with me. The girls soon joined us outside.
"You alright?” Grace asked with a frown and took my hand in hers.
"Yeah, no need to worry,” I told her. "Your boyfriend here and little John came and talked to me.,” I said with a teasing smile when I said the word little.
"Oh babe, I wish I could show you that I'm not little,” John said with a wink, and I playfully smacked his arm.
"Pervert,” I muttered, and Kylie laughed.
"I didn't even do anything to you, babe,” John said, wiggling his eyebrows.
"You're still a pervert,” I joked. He chuckled and winked.
