CHAPTER 75
CHAPTER 75
Elena pov
I opened my eyes slowly, feeling weak and exhausted. I barely had enough strength to sit up. I looked around and realised that I was in an unfamiliar environment.
My heart plummeted to my stomach. Where am I? I panicked as I looked around the empty room.
The room smelled of oil and old wood. Dim light flickered from the overhead bulbs, casting long shadows on the floor.
I realised that my arms were bound to the bed I was lying on, and I immediately guessed what was going on. I turned to my side and saw my baby lying quietly in the crib, I wanted to hold her so badly. I immediately started struggling and trying to yank my hand out of the ropes.
Who could've done this? Is it Puis? Why would he do this to me? Beads of sweat formed on my forehead, and my heartbeat wasn't normal.
My eyes were drowsy, and I couldn't hold up my head for long. I feel so weak and sore.
The door finally creaked open.
Footsteps echoed across the cold cement floor. I lifted my head slowly, wincing from the pain in my lower body. A tall figure stepped into view. I couldn't see the person because of my hazy state, but after blinking for a while, I froze, shocked at the sight in front of me.
“Crystal,” I whispered, disbelief painting my voice. Crystal hated me, but I never knew that she hated me to this extent. How could she do this to me? Doesn't she have any sympathy? I just gave birth. How can she be this wicked?
Crystal stood in the doorway, wearing a long black coat and red heels. Her blonde hair was tied neatly, her face glowing with a strange excitement. My jaws clenched, and I never felt so much anger like what I was feeling right now.
“Hello, Elena,” she said with a sweet smile.
I stared at her with daggers in my eyes. If looks could kill, she'd be gone by now. “What are you doing? What do you plan on doing to me, huh?”
Crystal walked toward me slowly, her heels clicking against the floor. “You have no idea how much I despise you. I mean, you just show up out of nowhere and steal the only man I've loved my entire life.” The veins on her forehead became visible as she spoke in anger.
“Face it, Crystal, Edward would've never been with you. It was very obvious you just…”
“Shut up! Shut the fuck up! That is why he's going to lose you and your fucking baby because you came between us.”
“Crystal don't you fucking talk about my baby like that.” although I was weak, I wasn't going to let this whore insult my child.
Crystal smiled devilishly while walking around the room. “Archer refused to marry me because you got pregnant with his child, what would happen if you no longer have his child?”
My breath caught in my throat. “What?”
“Oh come on,” Crystal said, crouching down. “You didn’t really think I was going to let you and your child go, did you? You ruined my happiness, so now I'm going to ruin yours.”
I blinked rapidly as I shifted on the bed in pain and worry. “Crystal…you…you can't do that…you'll be betraying Archer; he won't let it slide,” I said, voice shaking.
“Let's do this. You can let me go, and you'll never see or hear from me again. You can have an Archer to yourself.” I can't let this crazy bitch hurt my child, I must protect my child at all costs.
Crystal let out a loud laugh. “You think I don't know how he found you after you ran away? Archer is too good with things like these, and I won't take any chances. It'd be better to just get rid of you guys.”
“Are you crazy? That is a child, you're really going to kill a child because you want a man to notice you? Wow, you're so much more pathetic than I tho…” slap
My head jerked to the side in pain, and I tasted metal in my mouth. My cheeks burned, and I turned slowly to meet her gaze again.
“Don't fucking talk to me like that, you fucking charity case; you brought this upon yourself, so suck it up.”
Before I could respond, the door opened again; Puis entered the room, dressed in black, his cold eyes settling on Crystal.
He smiled at me but his smile dropped when he saw my reddened cheek. “Crystal, what the hell? Did you hit her?”
“She pissed me off. It's also a form of payback for pulling my hair at Archer’s place the last time.”
“Well, don't touch her again, I want her alive by the time we meet Archer.”
I stared at them with tears in my eyes, my voice trembling. “Why are you doing this?”
Crystal turned back to me, tilting her head. “Because I was tired of being second. Archer was always protecting you, looking at you like you were something special. He didn't let me address him by his name, but he let something like you have the opportunity.
I wanted to destroy that, and now I have the chance.”
“Now, now, my darling.” Puis caressed her shoulders. You can have fun with Elena as much as you can, but we have to finish with my plan first.” Crystal smiled at me. “Okay.”
“Now, we wait. Archer will come. And when he does, he’ll fall right into our trap.”
“You won’t get away with this,” I hissed.
Crystal smirked. “Sweetheart, I already have. Also, I know you betrayed Archer. Just wait until he finds out that his darling girlfriend has been selling him out. Who's the pathetic one now.” I froze in shock. I can't let that happen. It would crush him, and he would hate me forever.
I have to be the one to confess.
