"Moving on," I interject. "Let's get you ready then talk about a curfew young lady." My aunt's closet is full of fun outfit pieces that Casey is dying to have. At one point she even makes a pile of clothes to take home that my aunt doesn't want anymore. My aunt, similar to when Casey styled me, turns down every outfit she puts together. Casey is just more daring. My aunt expresses that she feels like she is too old to wear what Casey picks out. "If I had my eighteen-year-old body, I'd definitely wear everything," my aunt sighs. She tells Casey what kind of look she wants to go for, since it is basically just a drink date. Casey taps her chin and looks around at the clothes. "Let me dig a little deeper." After about five minutes, Casey emerges from the closet with a huge smile on her face. "These are perfect!" In her hands are a pair of black knee-high boots. "I forget I even had those. They were part of a costume I wore for Halloween many, many moons ago," my aunt shakes her head. "What are you thinking?" "A pair of dark denim jeans, a black v neck shirt, the boots, and your olive-green blazer," she says. "The blazer says professional, but the boots say let's have a good time, especially if worn on the outside of your jeans." My aunt looks a little hesitant, but Casey urges her to try everything on together before turning it down. As she's changing in her room, Casey and I wait in my room and think about what we're going to wear to Dylan's party. My aunt walks in with the outfit on and mine and Casey's jaws dropped. "Holy—" "Shit, you look amazing!" Casey finishes for me. Casey was right about the outfit. It's sexy, but mature. My aunt smiles and I know Casey got it right with the outfit. "I feel great." My aunt Jade glances at the clock on my night stand and sighs. "Well, I have just enough time to accessorize and fix my makeup." By the time she's getting ready to leave, she looks stunning. I can tell she likes the guy because she's really anxious. "What time should I be home, mom and dad?" she jokingly asks me and Casey. "Are you girls having a sleepover here after the party?" Casey smirks. "Do you want the apartment empty later on?" My aunt blushes and shakes her head immediately. "No, no." "What time do you want us back here?" I ask her. "Well, let's make it one," she nods. "You girls have fun and be safe." "You too," we called out as she walks out the door. Casey takes a deep breath and puts her hands on her hips. "Let's focus on you now," she says, ushering me into my room. "We have to make you look good for Dylan." I hold up my hands. "If I'm going to look good, it's going to be for myself." She rolls her eyes. "Fine, whatever. I brought some options for you, for whichever road you're looking to go down. I have sexy, casual, fun, you name it." I'm afraid of what she brought for a sexy look, so I say, "Let's see your fun outfit." She reaches into her large bag and pulls out all the clothes and lays them out on the bed. One outfit catches my eye. It's a cropped, strapless top that is red with white and black stripes. With it is a pair of black high waisted pants. "I like this," I point to it. She raises her brows. "That's a little daring. I was expecting a safer option from you." "Maybe you're rubbing off on me," I shrug. A smile spreads wide across her face. "Good. The straight neckline makes the boobs look fantastic, so good choice." She glances over the other outfits and choses a black romper with trumpet sleeves and a low v neckline. While we're getting ready, there's a nervous feeling in my stomach. I can't tell if it's a bad nervous, or a good nervous. I ignore it and continue to straighten my hair. It's nearing ten o'clock when we're finishing our looks. I haven't realized how long my hair has gotten until I finish straightening it and see that it's reaching my lower back. I put on the same boots from my birthday and complete my look with a simple gold necklace. Casey has curled her hair and slips on some nude gladiator sandals that go up her calf. She is definitely dressing up for the night. I decide to drive us because of what happened the last time at Dylan's party. The nervous feeling in my stomach grows as we draw nearer to his house. It's a good thing he doesn't have close neighbors because the road leading to his house is lined with cars. I find a spot along the road and pray no drunk teenager hits me. Casey and I are walking up to the house when she wraps her arm around mine. "Tonight will be fun. I promise." "Let's hope so," I say. We wander into the house and there are more people than the last party. I take Casey's hand before I lose her in the crowd. I search for Dylan and the guys, but there's no sign of them. Casey and I walk into the kitchen and try to talk over the music and chatter. The kitchen is different without Dylan standing at the stove making grilled cheese sandwiches. "Should we call them?" Casey asks. Before I can answer, I feel an arm go around my shoulders. My stomach flips because I think it's Dylan, but it isn't. Anthony grins at me instead. "There you are," his words slur slightly. "Hey, Anthony," I smile back at him. "Where is everyone?" "They're outside," he points to the glass doors. "Let me grab a drink and I'll take you. You guys want one?" We shake our heads and he doesn't pester us. He grabs a beer then looks at us. "Let's go!"
