She lets out a frustrated sigh. "You have no idea." I set my bag down on the floor and start going through some shirts. "What kind of look are you going for?" "I need to look hot. I know I don't have to look good just for him, but tonight I need to." She blows some hair out of her face. "I know my style isn't for you, but let me try to help," I tell her. I start rummaging through her clothes without a specific look in mind. She wants hot, which means it has to be something I would never personally wear. Usually when she wants to look hot she wears black or red. I remove all of the shirts that aren't those two colors. When I grab a handful of clothes, something catches my eye. "What's this?" I separate it from the others and lay it out. It's a black, sheer, short-sleeve with rose designs on it. "I bought that over the summer," she says. I stare at it until an idea comes to mind. "What about this shirt with your black bralette?" She makes her thinking face then quickly gets up and finds her black bralette. She picks up the sheer shirt and takes them into the bathroom to change. When she comes out, she's smiling. "Lacey, you're a genius." "You're welcome," I say as I bow. "As for the bottoms, I'm not sure." She picks up a pair of light wash jeans and holds them up. "These jeans make my ass look good, so these will work." "It's my turn now," I tell her. I reach into my bag and bring out my shorts. "I need a shirt to wear with these." She taps her chin and looks at the mess on her bed. "Help me hang all of this back up? We'll see what we can find when we put it all away." As we're hanging her clothes back up, there are a few shirts that catch my eye, but none of them really feel like party material. Casey gasps suddenly. "This one!" She holds up an off-the-shoulder shirt that's a pretty maroon color. It's flowy and seems comfortable enough. I take it from her and put it on. The fabric feels soft on my skin. "I don't think I've ever seen you in this shirt," I say. "I've only worn it once or twice," she shrugs. "You can have it. It's more your style anyway." It's a little after eight when we start to get ready. I put the shirt and shorts together and glance over myself in Casey's mirror. Luckily, I brought a cute pair of brown sandals just in case. I put them on and they pull the outfit together. Casey and I share her bathroom mirror to touch up our makeup. I haven't really worn any makeup in the past couple of months, but I make an exception for the party. I draw on some winged liner and put on a darker lip color. Casey does a dramatic look with her eyeshadow and adds some fake lashes. I borrow some jewelry to add to my outfit and I start to feel myself a little more. Casey walks out of the bathroom with her complete look and my mouth dropped. Her makeup makes her eyes pop and the outfit accentuates her curves, which is usually important to her. She smiles and does a happy dance. "I feel so hot right now." I glance at my phone then back at her. "It's going to be ten. We should probably head out soon." "I'm so excited!" she exclaims. "Thanks again for coming with me tonight." "What are best friends for?" We eventually get into her car and get on the road, using my phone for directions to the house. It's near the outside of the city, an area I'm not familiar with, so it makes me nervous. The house itself is smaller than I imagined. It's on a big piece of land, so the cars are scattered all around. Casey parks and takes a deep breath. "I can do this," she says. "You can," I assure her, but also reassure myself. I rub my hands together nervously as we leave the car. I don't know what to expect and it's making me more and more anxious as we walk up to the house. When the front door opens, I know I'm in for an interesting night. Music is coming from the living room. It isn't blaring, but it's loud enough to where you had to talk a bit louder than normal. Everyone seems to be in their own groups already. Casey says she texted that guy and she's waiting on his response. "I told him we're by the door and he says he's heading this way," she says. I cross my arms and lean against the wall. I recognize a few people here and there. Casey's boy-toy then walks up to her and hugs her. I go into protective mode and stand by her side. Did Casey say his name is Travis? "Tyler, this is my best friend Lacey," she introduces us. He holds out his hand and smiles. "It's nice to meet you." Tyler, not Travis, has dirty blond hair and a killer smile. He definitely looks like Casey's type. I take his hand. "You too." "Can I get you guys something to drink?" he looks at Casey expectantly. "Can you show us what there is?" I ask. I hate to sound like a mom, but I don't trust him enough to bring us drinks. "Sure," he nods. "Follow me." Casey gives me a look and I shrug. "We don't know if he could put something in our drinks," I tell her when he's out of hearing range. We follow him to the kitchen and there are cases of beer and a couple of liquor bottles along the countertop. "I'll be the DD," I say to Casey. I know she wants to have fun. She hands me the keys and smiles. "Thanks." She grabs a cup and started making herself a drink while making conversation with Tyler. I spot some water bottles and graciously take one. As I open it and take a sip, I glance out the glass door nearby and see some people outside. I tap Casey's arm and her eyes meet mine. "I'll be around. Call if you need anything," I say to her. She waves to me and I journey outside.
