Chapter 55
The two retired Alpha’s looked on at their son with worty, their faced marked with concern over lames‘ temper. Despite The young alpha and his mother. always butting heads with their conflicting personalities, James was typically tational and calm and his behavior was completely out of character for him, Julian had pulled Macy back for fear of his son reaching out to harm his mother over the threat of her sending Cassidy away. “James,” he said in a gentle tone to try and pacify his oldest. When James snapped his attention to Julian with a murderous look in his eye, Julian tightened his grip on Mary’s arm “Son no one is going to send her away.” He said and when Macy went to argue, he tightened his hand even more around her upper arm in warning for her to keep her mouth shut. “It is unheard of for a wolf such as yourself to hold out on mating. You ate an alpha James. You are too dominant and ton aggressive to sit back with the uncertainty of not having your female with you now that you know about her. I had to wait a week before I could claim your mother and it nearly drove me insane. How you have managed this for weeks and months I have no idea. I do know, if you don’t claim her and soon you will not be fit to run a pack. Your emotions will be too raw and you will end up hurting someone.” Julian said in a calm voice.
His fathers gentle way with handling angry wolves and his knack for diffusing potentially violent situations came in handy as fames leaned on his desk with his head down as he fought for control of himself and his wolf. “What would you have me do father? I feel like I’m backed in a corner. He admitted in a low
tone.
“I don’t know but this isn’t healthy for either of you. Either get one of the girls in the pack to help get rid of your anger and frustration, or suck it up and go find Miss Roan and do what you need to do. Go to the training field and work until you cannot stand. James, With the threat of the rogues it is too easy to do damage to a pack if the alpha doesn’t have his head on his shoulders properly.” Julian told James, trying to give the boy at least a few options to help him deal with this problem.
“I will not touch another she–wolf.” James said and his mother, who had kept her silence until now let out a disbelieving snort that earner her an aggressive growl, nearly undoing everything Julian had worked towards in getting James to calm down. “I will not. I have not. Not since my wolf realized she was my mate when I first seen her. I couldn’t touch another female without seeing Cassidy in my head let alone allow them into my bed.” He said with a growl and shook his head as he stood up. “I cant go and just claim her either… Not after everything I have done to her. I have to give her space… and freedom. If I don’t I know she will try to leave.” He let out a sigh and ran his fingers through his hair. “If she tries to leave me… I wont be able to control my wolf. She is all I think about, even over the pack right now.”
Macy rolled her eyes and pulled her arm free of Julian’s grip with a glare up at her mate before she headed over to James, ignoring Julian’s warning grow! and going straight to her son. “Sweetheart…” she sighed and reached up, cupping and holding James‘ face between her hands. “I love you. That girl is precious. You know I say things when I’m mad and don’t think about what is coming out of my mouth. You do what you feel is the best course of action for you… but dont forget you have her to think about as well. She knows you are her mate.” She said and gave his cheek a little tap before she stepped back a few paces. “A rejection, despite the pain it causes, wont break or change the fact that you are still bound together. Just go to her and get to know her. Let her get to know you. The best place to start from is the beginning.” She said with a bit of a smile.
James had looked wary at first of his mother coming around the desk to him, but he calmed when she cupped his face and for the moment, there was a truce between the two of them. He looked down at all of the mess he had made in his uncontrolled rage when his mother threatened to ship Cassidy away with a ticket somewhere. “I will do my best…” he said quietly before he knelt down to start picking up papers as his mother returned to his fathers side. When they turned to leave and were at the door, James looked up and frowned as another thought crossed his mind. “Mother? If you ever threatened to do anything to remove my mate from me again, you will no longer be welcome in this pack.” He announced coldly before going back to picking up the scattered papers and items.
Macy took in a sharp breath when James put out that threat and she tried to turn to force off with her son all over again, but Julian was quick to grab her, his growl deafening. “Enough Macy!” he snapped and turned the woman out into the hall before turning to face James, closing the door. “Good luck son.” He said before the door shut firmly, Julian’s booming voice heard on the other side as he drug Macy down the hall to their bedroom, scolding her the entire
way.
James shook his head and continued to gather up papers. He was already regretting tossing everything off his desk, because now he was going to have to sort it all out. It didn’t take long for his mind to roam to thinking of Cassidy. He knew his mother was right. Words wouldn’t change the fact that they were mates. They were going to have that need to be near each other and to have physical contact. It was biological and instinct would bring them together sooner or later, for better worse. His wolf agreed and was begging in his mind to go and see her. Just to make sure she was safe and settling in well. James stood, a massive stack of papers and books in his arms and he set them on his desk. He stood there, running his hand through his hair then holding the back of his neck as if it would ease up some of the tension be was feeling. It had been a hell of a day for him and he could just imagine how it has been for Cassidy. “Damn it.” He growled lowly, making up his mind to go and find her.
