Chapter 49
When Jennifer had been scolded dismissed by the Alpha’s father, she had taken off back to the back house as fast as she could. She didn’t know much abou the new female. There had been rumors she was a rogue. That she was a witch and had spelled the alpha. She had always been one of Jame’s favorites Foun before he became the alpha when his father retired. She and James had a close relationship. Sure it was mostly just sex, but she seen so much more than just that. Her hopes of becoming the pack Luna was high. She had made herself the top available she–wolf and had drove off all the other women lames bad taken to bed. Jennifer was determined to keep his eye on her and no one else. That included haughty she wolf rogues that her alpha had taken a liking to
The goal was to get into Jame’s bed and be waiting for him. She had stripped and stretched herself out, knowing full well it may be a few hours before the alpha came down from his office when his work was done. Jennifer had only made herself comfortable when the bedroom door flew open and then slammed shut. James stared at Jennifer in surprise for only a few seconds, his eyes roaming over her naked body.
T
“James…” she purred his name and ran a hand over her hips. “I knew you would choose me.” Jennifer said so proudly with a smile as if she had just won first place in a race.
James couldn’t believe what he was looking at, nor the audacity of the she–wolf to think he would choose her. His wolf growled in his head and that grow! quickly echoed through him. He bared his teeth, his body going stiff in aggression towards the woman in his bed that was not his mate. The very same female that had tried to make a claim on him and that could have made Cassidy leave. He moved towards her and the look of confidence on Jennifer’s fare melted quickly when she seen how angry he was.
James usually had an even temper. He was calm and collected. Calculating and intelligent. James had been raised to be a gentleman and fair minded but he was swift to fall into the alpha role and he did not tolerate nonsense like this from his pack. Now that Cassidy was in the picture, well, he had very very little control over his emotions right now. His wolf ruled him and his thoughts and nearly every thought was about that little she–wolf he wanted to claim.
“James! Wait! I-” was all Jennifer got out before James‘ large hand was wrapped around her arm and dragging her off the bed directly onto the floor. She landed with a yelp and looked up with a hurt expression over her features.
“Who do you think you are?!” James roared at her. “I may have let you in here before, but no more. You were not invited into my bed Jennifer!” he growled.
As any wolf would when in the face of an alpha’s ire, the she–wolf quickly tried to placate James by coming to her knees and tucking her fingers into the waistband of his pants. “James.. Please! I have always been faithful to you. You promised I would be your Luna! What can I do to have you want me in your bed again?” she asked him, her fingers slipping to his belt.
James‘ temper was now boiling over as he looked down at the groveling woman. He used to like her scent, but now it just burned his nose. He enjoyed her affection and touch. Now it made his skin crawl with revulsion. When she went to undo his belt, his wolf and he both snarled at the same time and he grabbed her by the wrists, squeezing painfully on the joints as he jerked her up to her feet. “Did I ask you to be my Luna? Or did I just take advantage of what was freely offered?” he asked coldly to her and let go of her wrist.
