Chapter 14
Cass found herself lifted high ad the wolf roaring at her, then in the next few seconds she was back on the ground and being jerked forward by the collar that was around her neck. Fight or flight took over in her and she tuned Jett’s roars out as he desperately tried to shift, to break free, to do something that would protect her. She launched herself at the Alpha as soon as he turned his back on her as he drug her from the room. She was so angry she wasn’t thinking further than to defend herself and defend Jett as she tackled his broad shoulders from behind. James paused when the little human attacked him, her teeth and nails sinking into his skin. It was an annoyance, but he and his wolf was both amused by her actions. ‘If only she was a wolf…” James thought to himself before he grabbed her by her hair and roughly pulled her off of him. James gripped her by the arms and gave her a shake so hard her teeth snapped together “Enough!” he commanded in a loud, deep and dominant tone that made her go still and her knees weaken. James gave a little snort and picked her up, tossing her over his shoulder and allowing the door to close behind him as he carried her down the dimly lit hallway.
Cassidy had never experienced another alpha before. She had certainly never attacked one or made them angry. The deep brassy tone of his voice when he had said enough was so strong she felt it all the way through her bones. She had frozen like a deer in the headlights, looking up at him with wide eyes and her mouth parted in unexpected shock. What she wasn’t prepared for at all was the sudden rush of warmth through her veins that brought a blush to her cheeks. She was very inexperienced with men, otherwise she would have recognized that flushed feeling as the beginning of arousal over the way the wolf just commanded her. She didn’t have any time to think about it because the second after she had stopped, fighting from the shock of being shaken in such a way, she was hoisted up over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes. “Hey… HEY! Put me down. Right now!” she yelled at him, kicking her legs and trying to twist free of the iron–like grip the alpha had around her waist. All her efforts to escape came to a swift end when she felt the stinging slap of a hand against her ass once, twice and then a third time in swift smacks.
“I said… Enough.” James growled at her, pausing and waiting to see if she would continue with her struggling after the quick discipline. His wolf was on edge, growling within his mind with aggression. It was unlike his two halves to be so at war with each other and he didn’t understand it. Wasn’t sure he wanted to understand it. His wolf was keeping control and he was struggling to fight it. His original destination was the interrogation room. His plan had been to just scare her and get her to talk. That was the plan… until she attacked him. Now his wolf wanted his pound of flesh. She had stopped struggling on his shoulder, but she had started to curse him, calling him names he wasn’t soon to forgive. James walked right past the room that Jett had spent the day in and headed further down the hall, guards looking up in shock and then worry as their alpha passed by them. James had rarely ever taken interrogation duties into his own hands so him being down in the cells had all of the guards on edge.
They had walked down several different hallways and a full flight of stairs to a much cooler level of the prison. Cassidy had fist fulls of his shirt and she was rigid where she was laying over his shoulder. She had given up cussing him out and calling him every slur she knew for wolves in the book. The farther they got from her original cell the more worried and apprehensive she became. “Listen… It was out of line.. Calling you a cur and a mutt and a bastard…” she said with a trembling voice. James growled lowly and his hand caressed the back of her jean clad thigh where he held her.

“It was out of line. But it does not matter now. You already said it.” He said gruffly before stopping in front of a heavy door, punching in a code and then walking in with her once the door was opened. Cassidy looked over her shoulder and felt her stomach drop when she seen where she had been taken. Chains hung from the ceiling and there were straps built into the floor to hold body down. Tools of torture lined the walls along with a vast array of whips. James grabbed the chain connected to the collar on the females neck and set her on her feet, pulling her to stand in front of him as he wrapped his fist in the links of metal. James bared his teeth at the female and tightened his grip on the chain, walking towards her to crowd her back to where he wanted her, right under the chains.
James lowered his head with a growl so he could whisped just above her ear. “One way or another, I will have you… and I will have
answers.”
