Chapter 153: The Alien Flagship Descends!
Chapter 153: The Alien Flagship Descends!
"Cut the tough guy act!" War Ghost spat on the ground and turned to shout at Osiris beside him. "Line these bastards up so I can flatten them all in one swing!"
"Don't get cocky. A high-dimensional civilization's defensive formation isn't that simple." Osiris tightened his grip on his combat blade.
War Ghost wasn't listening. He drove both legs hard into the ground.
The thrusters on his Gen-2 powered armor flared with deep blue fire, and he shot forward like a cannonball, straight at the perfectly ordered enemy ranks.
"Break!" His meteor iron war hammer — weighing several tons — swung in a wide arc, trailing a sonic boom that tore through the air, and came crashing down on the front-line guard soldiers.
The guards raised their diamond-shaped shields in unison. The metal locks along the shield edges snapped together within a single second.
Dark red high-dimensional energy surged and merged, forming a massive energy wall in front of the formation.
The hammer hit.
The moment that raw physical force made contact with the force field, ripples spread across the wall's surface like rings on water, but in red.
That strange frequency neutralized the hammer's impact — and then a violent recoil shot back through the handle, straight into War Ghost's hands.
A sharp, burning pain exploded through his palms. He lost control and went flying backward.
His massive body tumbled through the air and slammed into the dark gold alloy wall on the side of the corridor, punching a deep crater into it. Chunks of broken metal scattered across the floor.
"What the hell, this thing has a reflect on it!" War Ghost dragged himself out of the crater, shaking his numb arms.
The Hunter commander raised his energy lance. "Shift formation. Counterattack."
The front-row guards angled their shields slightly outward, opening narrow gaps.
The soldiers in the back rank immediately thrust their lances through those gaps. The tips lit up with a blinding red glow.
Dozens of high-energy red beams fired simultaneously into the Abyss Iron Cavalry's formation.
The riders at the front reacted fast, throwing up their heavy tower shields. The beams struck — and the heat was instant and extreme. The specially forged alloy shields held for half a second before the beams burned straight through. The shots didn't slow down. They punched through the Gen-2 powered armor behind the shields.
Muffled groans. Five or six riders dropped, clutching smoking wounds. The life-support systems inside their armor screamed with alerts.
"Medics! Drag them back!" Osiris bellowed, holding his high-frequency vibration blade across his chest. "Everyone activate gravity shields — form up defensive positions! Prepare to push through!"
"Stand down."
Ryan stepped out from the group. He glanced at the wounded on the ground, then looked ahead at the dark red wall of shields, solid and airtight.
"Commander, this thing's got a trick to it — it absorbs pure physical impact." War Ghost walked over, hammer in hand, looking thoroughly annoyed.
Ryan raised a hand to cut him off and walked straight to the front of the line.
The True Dragon Tyrant Blood moved slowly through him. His awareness expanded outward.
The dark red energy wall transformed in Ryan's perception — a web of countless energy threads, woven together.
Every thread was vibrating at a specific frequency. That was the secret. That was how it absorbed physical force and bounced it back.
Every energy structure has nodes. Every node can be broken.
The Hunter commander watched Ryan walk forward alone. A snort came from behind the visor.
"Stupid primitive. Individual strength means nothing against a high civilization's military formation. Less than a speck of dust." The commander leveled his lance. "All units — full power, fire everything. Burn him to ash."
The guards activated the overload mode on their lances.
Hundreds of beams — twice as thick as before — gathered at the lance tips. The air around them warped violently from the heat.
The moment before they fired.
Ryan moved.
The meteor iron broken sword let out a sharp, piercing hum.
Purple-gold extreme-dao energy poured through his wrist and into the blade. The sword's vibration frequency spiked to something terrifying. Rings of white pressure waves burst outward through the surrounding air.
Ryan flashed forward and appeared directly in front of the energy wall.
He didn't hack at it. His wrist turned slightly, and the tip of the broken sword found a precise point — the exact convergence node at the center of the energy wall — and drove in.
The sword's extreme-high-frequency vibration slammed into the wall's defensive frequency head-on.
"Break."
Crack.
A sharp, clean sound rang out across the open hall.
A hairline fracture appeared on the surface of the dark red energy wall. Then it spread — branching out like a spiderweb, racing across the entire structure.
The Hunter commander went pale. "Hold the shield output! Cut the link!"
Too late.
The energy wall collapsed. The linked diamond shields suffered a catastrophic feedback through the force field, and the high-dimensional crystal cores inside instantly overloaded.
BOOM. BOOM. BOOM. BOOM.
Chain explosions ripped through the guard formation.
Hundreds of shields detonating at once tore the first and second rows apart. Bodies and armor fragments flew everywhere. Dark red high-dimensional battle armor shattered into pieces, and green blood soaked the floor.
The shockwave threw the Hunter commander off his feet. Half his arm was blown off. He was still struggling to get up when he felt a sudden chill at his back.
Shadow Reaper materialized out of the air.
"Your life is mine."
A high-frequency cutting blade drew a pale blue arc and sliced cleanly through the commander's neck armor. Green blood sprayed out.
The tight formation broke apart instantly.
War Ghost's eyes lit up. He swung his hammer and roared. "Brothers! Let's carve these soft-shelled bastards up!"
Eight thousand Abyss Iron Cavalry hit them like a pack of wolves.
Without the energy wall, the guards were no match for riders in Gen-2 powered armor.
Osiris cleaved through a lance coming straight at his face and followed through, splitting a guard soldier in half — armor and all. His high-frequency vibration blade left glowing blue arcs through the enemy line.
War Ghost just unleashed everything he'd been holding back. He used his heavy armor as a battering ram and plowed straight into the crowd, swinging the meteor iron hammer left and right. Every hit turned a Hunter warrior into a pulp before they could even scream.
Ryan didn't look back at the one-sided slaughter behind him. He shook the green blood off his sword and kept walking toward the teleportation gate in the center of the hall.
Then, from the ruins of the control console on the left side of the hall, a hand appeared.
Nicholas — who had shown excellent situational awareness the moment the fight broke out by diving for cover — crawled out from behind the wreckage, his silver briefcase in his arms, covered in dust, clutching a snapped energy data cable. As the Abyss's chief technical mind, he'd made it all the way to the moon alongside Ryan, but brute force was never his thing. Slipping into the enemy's control systems while everyone else was busy fighting — that was where he truly excelled.
"Commander! Big find!" Nicholas jogged over in a hurry and shoved the briefcase screen in Ryan's face. "These alien bastards had a self-destruct program buried in their firewall. Almost fried my motherboard."
The screen showed a string of freshly decrypted alien text and a three-dimensional star map.
"I snuck into their guard control console during the chaos and pulled their fortress's navigation logs." Nicholas was talking fast, barely catching his breath. "This teleportation gate is not a normal interstellar jump channel!"
Ryan stopped. "Get to the point."
"It connects directly to the main docking bay on the belly of the Hunter civilization's flagship!" Nicholas pointed to a blinking red marker on the screen. "They're planning to lock the flagship right at the exit of the channel — use the entire lunar fortress as an external power pack — and run a full-coverage harvest on Earth through the fortress's energy grid!"
Ryan looked toward the gate ahead of him.
The pale blue vortex had expanded to 1,200 feet across.
The light at its center was growing brighter by the second — shifting from deep blue to a blinding white.
