Chapter 190 : Never-ending Love

Chapter 190 : Never-ending Love
Rayline.

The meeting went exactly as I had expected it to go. Harvey briefly explained the entire situation and what he knew. Basically, all the causes of the riots and rebellion are related to years ago, and the roots have been resolved and dealt with. However, there would be unresolved loose ends and there were still ropes to be tied.

Lilith most likely still has more allies and connections in places they have yet to discover, and they need to be sought out and dealt with. It may take a long time to clear things up, maybe even years, and the impact could be catastrophic.

Harvey then asked everyone to share their stories and their connections. Cole spoke in front of us all, sharing everything. He talks about how he was first sent to Earth, and how Lilith gave his mother the disease out of spite and revenge. He spoke about the recent attacks, and how they were done as hatred towards him when they were actually related to the rebellion. He then spoke about me, how we met, how he became my guardian, and how Lilith's men used me as a tool.

Harvey then asked about my point of view. I repeated back everything Cole had said, but I also mentioned my conversation with Silas. I explained that his involvement was more forced than willing. I didn't want them to be punished as if they really wanted the downfall of the demon world, they were also hurt in all of this.

Taylor did most of the explaining about the investigations and searches they had conducted. He even mentioned their search into Leonardo's territory, and then he and Cole deeply apologized. Taylor also probably accidentally referred to Asmodeus with a more casual title, rather than her official title, which made many people glance at him, but Cole quickly caught it as he held back a smirk, as well as Asmodeus. Jesse remained silent. Cole told them what happened to him, so it was certain that no one questioned his current state.

Nicolas speaks briefly, mentioning the search for the Nephilim and their current holdings of demons. He explains that they would be willing to cooperate with the council since demons are their subjects, but would be in neutral territory in a secure location, which they agree to.

Near the end, Cole's father stated that no demon from any territory would be ignored if they attacked Cole... that he would be treated as a high-class demon... the son of a high lord. It was an order, not a request.

With this and the protection of angels, he now had people he could rely on. He had people who would stand behind him. He doesn't have to fight alone anymore. I wish I could see the look on his face once more... the look of relief.

It was all over, and everyone was standing up and talking to each other. I, on the other hand, remained by his side as he talked to Nicolas about the implications of the Nephilim capture involving demons, but I didn't interfere for most of the time. Then my eyes caught Asmodeus off to the side, leaning against one of the walls.

"I'll be right back," I said to Cole.

His eyes shifted to Asmodeus, then back to me. "Okay."

I walked over to her quietly and approached her from the side. "Excuse me?" I asked softly, her green eyes meeting mine. "I just wanted to thank you for helping Cole on several occasions. And I'm glad to meet you in person."

Her friendly smile broadened. "I was wondering if I could meet the person he was willing to risk his life for." She replied while I held back the blush on my face. "And I should thank him. What I did for all of you is nothing compared to what he gave me."

I opened my mouth to ask a question but then closed it again.

"You were wondering about that?" she asked, and I looked up, startled.

"He said it was personal... and he couldn't say," I said, twiddling my fingers. "He just told me that it wasn't a bad thing."

"He healed my son." My eyes blink in surprise. "He was a Cambion. No outsiders know about him, except Cole." Her son was half-breed. "And you." My eyes flicked to Cole for a moment, my heart pounding with love for him, for helping someone who was suffering. Asmodeus smiled at me, seeing how surprised I was. "I'm glad I can trust him to keep a secret. I hope that applies to you as well."

"Yes, of course," I nodded, flashing a smile.

"Hey." I turned to see Taylor at my side.

"Hey," I said, and I had to suppress a smirk as I glanced between the two of them.

"Hey, baby boy," she smirked, and I saw the blush on his cheeks.

"You seemed to be struggling a bit out there," I teased him.

He wipes his mouth nervously, his eyes flicking to his father. "Is that bad?"

We both let out a small laugh. "Just a little," I say to him.

Then I see Cole waiting off to the side, and I turn to her again. "It was nice talking to you," I say to Asmodeus.

"You too," she replied with a smile.

I nodded and started to turn around, but nudged Taylor's shoulder. "Don't look too conspicuous," I said in a low tone, and he stiffened.

Then I made eye contact with Cole as I walked back towards him, smiling as I reached out and clasped his hands together. "Hey."

"Hey," he smiled.

I swayed both hands back and forth as I stared at him, my heart fluttering. "Asmodeus told me what you had done for her." I could see there was a hint of surprise on his face. "I'm so proud of you." I squeezed his hand and leaned closer, and he smiled.

"I would do that for anyone."

I rose up on my toes, pressing my nose against his. "And that's what makes me love you." His eyes flashed a magenta color, and I planted a quick kiss on his lips.

"Excuse me, Cole?"

I pulled back and stepped to the side to see Leonardo standing there, and I stiffened. "I didn't mean to disturb you."

"It's not disturbing." I stepped closer to Cole's side, my hand in his.

"What can I do for you?" Cole asked, no malice in his tone this time.

"I just want to apologize to you nicely." He blinked a few times in surprise. "I treated you very badly when we first met. I was prejudiced and rude, and I'm very sorry."

He stood up in shock, and I hit his arm gently to snap him out of it. "Oh... sorry, I just didn't expect you to apologize. If anything, we still have to apologize for suspecting you, and for sending Taylor into your territory without permission. Other than that, I think my father has given you enough punishment."

He smiled slightly. "Not enough perhaps." Cole did not respond. "I don't blame you for being cautious. My impression wasn't well received, and your research was correct. I was indirectly involved in some riots a few years ago." I blinked in shock. "But I've already settled that matter with the lords, and I've faced the consequences." Cole nodded silently. "And I'm quite impressed with all of you. Sneaking around Hell is no easy task. Not to mention facing bigger demons."

"That's far from easy." Cole's eyes shifted to Jesse. "And we suffered for it."

"I don't doubt that." A moment of silence passed, and Leonardo straightened up. "Well, I'm sure that's all I have to say." His eyes shifted to me. "You have a strong one with you. I wish you all the best."

I perked up. "Me, or him?"

"Both." He gave me a warm smile.

"Thank you."

The demon turns to the others still gathered around the table, and I turn to Cole, his hand gripping mine tightly.

"You want to go for a walk?" he asked.

"Sure."

He smiled and started to lead me out of the room. We slowly walk down the long corridor in a soothing silence, our hands swinging together as we look around at the paintings and decorations lining the walls.

Once in the courtyard, I could see the bright colors of the flowers shining in the sunlight. Cole leads me down the cobblestone path looking at the leaves, listening to the sound of the water in the fountain dripping. I look up at the blue sky and smile to myself.

"You're so beautiful," Cole pulls me out of my reverie, and I turn my head to see the magenta sparkle in his eyes.

I blushed and brushed my hair to the side. His eyes then dropped to a patch of pink roses mixed with pink carnations, and he reached out to pick them carefully. When he straightened up, he reached up to place it behind my ear, which made me laugh as I touched the soft pink petals.

Never-ending love.

He placed his thumb on my cheek for a moment before he pulled away, and I twisted around to face him, giving him my full attention. "Your father gave you protection."

"That's right."

"And you have the protection of the angels, which extends all the way to the Nephilim."

"That's right." He tilted his head cheerfully.

"So," I began while hooking my arms around his neck, and his hands found their way to my waist, "that means they don't see you as a threat." His eyes flickered between mine. "We're safe."

"It almost doesn't feel real." He let out a crisp laugh. "I don't even know what to do now."

"What should we do?"

He shrugged. "Anything. Everything." His smile broadened. "We have all the time in the world."

"Promise?"

He smiled, the golden sunlight shining on his skin, enhancing his features, his beauty. Just like the day I first saw him sitting on the grass sketching in his notebook. What a different world back then. Yet, he was still the same, but so much more. The cold man with colored eyes.

"Promise."

"The End"~~~
"Thank you so much for you all, my lovelies for read my book. Despite having so many flaws. Maybe I'll write a second series about Jesse and Nicolas. "
