Chapter 180 : Devils' Game
Chapter 180 : Devils' Game
Cole.
Just then she pulled the sword back and changed her position, slowly moving to stand between me and the stone. She moved to adjust her position, bending her knees as she was taught to do in preparation for an attack, while my eyes watched silently in both pain and rage.
Lilith, who was sitting on her throne, clapped her hands in delight. "Wow, I heard she was trained, but who would have thought..." She chuckled, enjoying the situation. Anger burned within me, my eyes flashing with fiery red. "To get the stone, you have to get past her."
"You bitch," Taylor hissed from behind, his voice filled with venom, his fists clenched tightly.
I take a step forward, trying to reach her with my voice. "Ray..." I said, voice full of anxiety. Taking one more step as I kept my sword held high. "I'm not going to fight you."
"Well, if you would rather watch her dying on the floor, that's always an option," Lilith said in a nonchalant tone, resting her elbows on the arms of the throne. "Oh, and don't use telekinesis, that's cheating. I don't think you want to cheat when I can just end her life instantly, do you?"
I glared at the demoness, who seemed to be enjoying every second of this vile game.
"Ray... it's me." Nothing. She had no reaction in the slightest. "Please, Ray, I don't want to fight you."
But she did not listen. She just kept on lunging forward, swinging her sword high for my head, and I dodged to the side. She spun around to strike downward, and I lifted my sword to block it, the clash of metal echoing throughout the room. Using my strength, I pushed her back, and I tried to move towards the pedestal, but she rushed to block my way.
She seemed not to be trying to kill me. No, she wasn't. She was merely trying to keep me away from the stone, so getting around her would be more difficult than I had intended.
She lunged for another hit, and I turned to the side before getting close to her and grabbing her arm, using my weight to stop her from pulling back.
"Rayline, wake up." I held her as she tried to break away from me. "Please."
She twisted and elbowed me in the stomach, making me stumble backward before I had to block another kick.
"It's me, kitten." I tried to break free from her legs, but she moved quickly, aiming for my heart. I parried her sword, but it narrowly missed and cut my arm, making me stifle a yelp. "Fight her!"
Another time, she did not respond, and my eyes flashed orange as my wings flared out from behind me, annoyance getting the better of me.
"Now this just got interesting," Lilith cooed from the side, her voice sounding like a cruel chant, but I totally brushed it off.
My wings lifted, and in a gust of wind, I pushed her back against the wall. the blades locked with one another as she tried to push me back.
"Sorry if that hurt," I whispered to her. She struggled as I pinned her in place. "Please, Ray. Think of the good things. Think of me, your family—"
I winced in pain as she lifted her knee up to my gut and pushed me off. She then swings her leg, knocking me to the ground, before lifting the sword to stab me in my head. Rolling myself to the side and rising to my feet.
"This might hurt," I said as I lifted my hand, and she was flung back, leaving the sacred sword stuck on the floor.
I pulled out the sword and spun around, using my strength to launch the sword towards the throne... at Lilith. The sword shot out quickly, but before it reached her head, it was knocked aside by another sword. Silas stood in front of her.
"Now, that was rude," said Lilith in a tone that barely showed any emotion, her cold eyes looking straight at me.
In an instant, a scream escaped my mouth as a searing pain stabbed through my body, burning every nerve. I clutched my shoulders with trembling hands, and my body fell to my knees. My vision was blurred by the pain, but I forced myself to turn my head. There, on my shoulder, was pierced by an agonizing dagger. I looked up and saw Rayline standing in the distance, with a second dagger pointed, ready to be thrown at me.
The sound of Lilith's maniacal laughter filled the room. "You really have trained her well," she said in a tone full of amusement.
I gritted my teeth before grabbing the dagger and pulling it out of my flesh, holding back the pain that seared through my body. I stood up, but as I prepared, I caught sight of the dagger shaking and tears streaming down her face.
"S-stop..." Her voice shakes, filled with fear and regret, her teary eyes looking at me in frustration. "I... can't."
"Rayline."
"Please..."
My body did not move, I was frozen in place. Knowing that if I reached for the stone, she would throw another dagger, or worse, Lilith would do something right then and there.
"Run," she whispered, a voice that was barely audible yet stabbed my heart. My eyes flickered, flashing blue, reflecting a deep sadness.
"No." My body remained motionless, refusing to leave her.
"Please." Her chest heaved up and down. "While you can..."
"I'm not running away."
Her eyes locked with mine, and I froze, seeing her pleading gaze. I extended my power to her.
"Run for it." Her voice echoed inside my head.
"Would you two please hurry up—" Lilith started to speak, but her words were cut off when that demoness' head was snapped to the side. The dagger Rayline had thrown shot quickly towards her, aiming straight for her head.
As for me, I launched myself at the pedestal, lifting my wings and using the moment of opportunity she created to get to it. While Lilith was preoccupied with her... how Rayline defied her. I was only inches away, right within its reach. And just as my hand was about to grab it—
Silas snatched the stone from the pedestal in a blink of an eye.
Seeing the empty spot in front of me, I slowly shifted my gaze to Silas, who was panting and holding the stone.
"Hand it over," I growled, the voice that came out sounding lower, more dangerous, and my eyes flashing red. "Now."
However, before Silas could respond, Lilith called out to him quietly. "Silas," she called, pulling out the dagger stuck on the throne beside her head. Her voice seemed to cut through the air, giving an order that could not be ignored. "Please give it here."
The heat of burning anger boiled through me, and my words came out in a low growl; I restrained myself from leaping at her. "I won your little game," I said fiercely.
"Silas," Lilith called out to him again, this time in a more impatient tone, as if ignoring my existence entirely.
