Chapter 69—I'll Take My Chances
Astrid’s POV:
I was shocked, and most importantly, I didn’t know I wanna be happy or not. I mean… I was of course happy about what is finally gonna happen. But does he really want it or is he just doing it because Alan acted like he was gonna hurt me?
“So… what are you gonna do?” I questioned mom.
“What do you want, Astrid?”
“I don’t know, mom. You know that I love Noah”
She thought for a moment. “Think about it and answer me tomorrow”
“Okay mom” I went to my room.
Firstly, I messaged Alan that it worked, and he called mom. He replied with a smile and a best of luck phrase.
I sat down and started thinking. Should I call him? Should I talk to him? Should I at least message him?
I unblocked him. I saw that the last message to him was more than a year ago.
I was surprised to see that he hasn’t blocked me. I thought he would have done it a long time ago. Only I was the one who had blockade him all this while.
I message him. “Hey… Noah… You called?”
I finally sent the message after many minutes of mentally fighting. I am marrying him; I can at least message him.
He saw the message almost immediately but didn’t reply for quite a while. After completing 6 minutes, he started typing.
“I called your mom, not you”
Of course, he is mad at me.
Damn, what do I do?
I thought of typing many things but finally typed none. I just left it ignored. What can I do?
I just wanted the rest of my day thinking and finally slept.
The next day, I was finally on one side. I went downstairs and my mom, even at the very start of the day, was ready to throw her questions at me.
“Listen, mom. He doesn’t talk to me. But I love him… at least I think I do. Now tell me what should I do?”
“You should marry him because he loves you too”
“What mom? How can you say that—”
She gave me her phone. There was a poem he had written.
“I’d love it if you read this and think that I feel anything for her—
“She was my life, she left, life left.
Never had anything, even my soul has left.
Being a boy was never the best thing, When the only girl I ever loved left.
Do you know that feeling?
When there is nothing to see?
Because you just don’t know What you should be?
When there is no reason to live And even no reason to wake up?
But there is only one thing for which I never gave up.
Thought you’d come back one day Since I never left.
I am a pen, Astrid And you are a highlighter I will draw our world And I hope you’ll make it brighter””
I felt speechless. Feeling shivers down my entire body was just not the only thing I was feeling, I was even feeling like I wanna cry. It only made me more guilty for what I did.
“You felt something?” mom asked as she took her phone back.
“I am ready to marry him, mom” I made my decision and she smiled.
Noah’s POV:
I was scared when that Alan said those things, so I agreed to marry her. It is not like I didn’t want to when she is the only thing I ever wanted. But… it is just difficult that finally, I was moving on and now she’ll be in my life again, even when she doesn’t love me. It will kill me every day.
I still accepted and damn, I become poetic whenever any emotional moment is on the play. So, I just wrote some lines and thought to send it to her mom for her. I don’t know if she’ll read it, but I just thought she’d like to know that she still means the world to me.
I honestly don’t know what it will be like if I marry her. I mean, does she even like me now? Will she even accept this? Even if she does, will it be by her wish or because she had no other option? Will it be awkward? Will we ever be like before?
I can’t think of any solutions, but I know that I’ll love her always, no matter she does or not.
I told Xander about this and damn, he was mad. He is always against us and now, he was just calling me the most idiotic person.
But I’ll take my chances, Astrid, even if it feels like a dead end. Because what we had was special and I can tell you it is not dead.
