Chapter 111 Chapter: 111
ANDREA
“Going somewhere, puttana?” he asked menacingly, closing in on me. Pushing me back into the storage room, his gun still pointing in my face. Fear curdled my blood when he closed the storage door behind him. Instantly, I began sweating and trembling.
I've always noticed the way he looks at me with lust-filled eyes, since the first time I met him at the airport months ago—when he forced me into changing my clothes right in front of him before kidnapping me at gunpoint.
Since then, he hadn't tried anything, probably for fear that Alessandro would kill him if he so much as touched me. He only stared at me with malice, but now here I am, alone. With everyone back in the grapevine for the wedding, I'm entirely at his mercy.
Something tells me he has none for me in his cold, dark heart. I gulped, my eyes darting all over the place for anyone to save me.
“Wh…what are you doing?” I asked, trying to stall while I discreetly searched for anything I could use as a weapon against this bastard. I'd stupidly drop the one thing that has a weapon, my bag! At the door due to shock.
“Oh, nothing much. You're going to come with me quietly. We're going somewhere,” he said, waving his gun in my face, taking a step closer, I took one back, feeling like deja vu.
“Now, shut the fuck up, no more questions. If you're wise, you wouldn't want to push me right now,” he added when I went to ask him where he's taking me. He could no longer hide the evil and crazy glint in his eyes.
My eyes widened with panic as I took several steps away from him when he suddenly moved towards me with a zip tie in his other hand. His intentions were clear; he was going to tie me up and kidnap me, where he would kill me without anyone knowing it was him.
“No, please let me go. I…I was just looking for…” my panicked brain tried to find an excuse as to why I was here, and stop his evil attempts.
“Giulia will be looking for me; she knows I was coming here, she'll be here any minute now.” I lied hysterically, trying to make him leave.
“Giulia is not coming for you, I know. She's out there with everyone at the wedding, and even if she's here, she can't save you. Valentina said it you know, she told me sooner or later you're going to try and escape. And she was right. You were planning to escape, and I caught you.” His grin was pure evil.
“Can you imagine what the Don would do to you if he finds out you tried to run?” he asked, unbuckling his belt. My heart sank in my stomach. Was he intending to rape me before taking me back to the Don?
“He will kill all your friends, but if you cooperate with me, I will make it quick,” he replied, taking off his belt, and was relieved when he placed his gun on a chair with three legs at the side of the door. With the belt and zip tie in hand, he started towards me.
“Put both your hands forward, rd and I won't have to hurt you.”
“Patrizio, you don't have to do this. You don't have to obey Valentina. If you let me go, I promise I won't tell Alessandro that you tried to kidnap me at gunpoint while I'm carrying his baby. You know what he's like and what he will do to you if he finds out. He will kill you in the most painful way. Let me go, and nobody has to suffer or die, ” I bluff, feigning calm and praying like helbacks back the fuck off.
A loud cackling laugh suddenly filled the storage.
“That's funny, puttana, we both know Ombra doesn't give a shit about you, otherwise he wouldn't be getting married. He'd used you just like the others. I'm pretty sure he couldn't care less if all of the men in this villa fuck you one after the other. You're nothing but a whore to him,” he taunted, coming closer.
His words hurt, the reminder that Alessandro is getting married right now hurt, but I didn't have time to mope over it. Getting out of this shitty situation is my priority.
“You're right, Patrizio. Alessandro doesn't care about me, but he cares about the baby inside me. I'm with his child. And if any harm comes to this child, Alessandro won't stop by just killing you; he will kill anyone you ever love. Let's not forget that Don Marchetti might do the deed himself; he will think you betrayed him.” I'm scrambling for a way out.
“You know what he does to traitors, so just think very carefully about your next step. If you turn now and leave, or you let me go, I will keep this incident a secret from both of them,” I tried to reason with him.
“They will only kill me if they find out. You see, puttana, dead people don't talk. Don't blame me for your death. I'm only doing what I've been paid to do, handsomely too. She really hates you. I would have loved to sample you, see why Ombra was attracted to you, but we haven't got much time,” he said regretfully, like he wasn't talking about raping me before ending my life and my baby's.
Fear clogged my brain and coated my tongue, leaving a bitter taste. I shouldn't be surprised that he wants to kill me or that Valentina paid him to kill me secretly without Alessandro's knowledge, but I am. I couldn't wrap my brain around the kind of evil that makes one take another's life unprovoked.
My head desperately whipped from side to side, looking for something, anything! To protect myself against this psycho.
My best bet is the gun in my bag, but to get to it, I have to get Patrizio out of the way. I can't let him succeed with his evil plan; I have to save myself. Nobody knows I am here. So it's up to me.
Now, if only I could find anything heavy, sharp, and pointy that could help. I could hit him with it, not necessarily to knock him out but to give me a chance to get Lorenzo's gun out of the bag.
Just when my eyes caught a glimpse of a broken chair leg, Patrizio lunged for me, trying to pin me to the ground to tie me up, I'm sure.
I screamed, then kicked, but he quickly got hold of one of my legs, and my other hand, desperation made me jab two fingers into his eyes, taking him off guard. He bellowed in pain and rage, momentarily letting me go.
I blindly crawled to the door, just when I got up and opened the door with my hand, picking up my bag. Patrizio’s hand grabbed my hair and yanked back so hard I could swear he'd tear some strands from my scalp. I scream, tears streaming down my face, I whirled around, raking my fingers over his furious face.
“Stupid bitch! I was going to go easy on you, but now you're going to suffer,” he said without an ounce of remorse. Holding both my hands with one of his, he raised his other large hand and smacked me until I saw stars. Instantly, my lip split.
Pain blinded me again when he hit me across the face a second time; the sound of the slap was so deafening! The bastard wasn't holding back. I've never in my life experienced that kind of physical pain, but I couldn't let it distract me from what is at stake.
I screamed and scratched his face, struggling to stop him and save myself, while protecting my stomach by curving my body. My struggle and fighting weren't enough.
My strength was no match against the evil bastard. Patrizio struck me in the face over and over again until I could no longer fight him. Until my legs gave out under me, I felt like my whole face was on fire.
I couldn't even cry, nor could I hear anything for a long time while I lay there gasping for breath, feeling warm liquid trickle out of my nose and praying, hoping someone or something would come and help me.
Alessandro, Giulia, a dog, an earthquake, anything at all that would stop this bastard and give me a chance against this particular monster. My heart broke when it occurred to me that Alessandro is right now getting married to the woman who gave this man the order to kill me and, in effect, his unborn child.
A sob slipped out of my lips as tears blurred my sight. I tasted blood in my mouth and knew without a doubt that in a few hours, I wouldn't be able to recognize myself due to how swollen my whole face would be. My whole body feels so weak, battered.
The only thing I was grateful for was that in all our few minutes of struggles, Patrizio hadn't hit me in the stomach. I'd also folded into myself so he couldn't, protecting my stomach from his assault.
As I lay down, both my hands were wrapped around my stomach protectively. I coughed and wheezed. I could see Patrizio through the slit of my eyes.
He glared down at me with rage and hate; both his eyes were bloodshot, and there were also bruises on his face, which I was sure came from my nails. I felt a twinge of satisfaction for that little thing; it felt like I had accomplished something.
“Dumb bitch, you'll pay for attacking me,” Patrizio swore. “If you move an inch, I wouldn't hesitate to kill you right fucking now bitch,I could always take your body out later,” he said without an ounce of remorse that he was talking about killing me so callously.
When he saw that I was in no condition to move, he turned and walked further into the large room, searching through the dusty, cluttered storage boxes for only God knows what. My eyes stare at his back, then at the door, just three maybe four steps, and then I'm out of this room. I just needed to make sure he wasn't looking my way then.
He has his gun back in his hand, and I know he would kill me just as he said if I tried to run again. God, please, I don't want to die. I need…several deafening sounds suddenly pierce my ears.
Gunshots!!
My eyes widened as much as they could in my already swelling face, in shock. Wondering what the hell is going on outside. Just like me, Patrizio startled, looked confused, then swore in Italian. He quickly jumped over me and ran out into the hallway.
And that was it. Adrenaline courses through me as I hurry to where my bag has fallen when Patrizio dragged me back into the room. My hand quickly reached into the bag and pulled the gun out, just as Patrizio was coming back into the room.
“Come on, puttana, we need to leave…”
I didn't hesitate, didn't blink, didn't think. I just switched off the safety and fired, then I couldn't stop, I fired so many times until I'd emptied all the bullets. I never knew the amount of effort it took to fire a gun until that moment.
My arm muscles and fingers spasm, pulled taut painfully, but I didn't stop, I couldn't. The shots weren't precise or tidy; they were clumsy and messy.
Patrizio, that fucker had been shocked, alright, until he wasn't. After the first few shots, he'd been dead. A while later, I blankly stared at the gun in my hand in shock. The gunshots had ceased, though I could still hear a few from time to time; they weren't as frequent as before.
I stared at Patrizio's hole-ridden body, my body trembling. I was shocked that I just killed someone, I'd taken someone's life, but the most disturbing part was that I felt nothing; I felt completely numb.
Gradually, my heartbeat slowed, the adrenaline in my veins eased, and I suddenly felt so fucking exhausted and sore, but I knew I couldn't just lie here hoping everything was just a bad dream. I needed to get the fuck out of this house.
I know that, but I couldn't move a single muscle; my heart was suddenly torn, and I wondered what had happened outside. I wonder if Alessandro was hurt. I wanted to go back and check on Alessandro, see if he was okay, but a part of me is telling me to go now that this is my chance.
Fortunately, before I could ponder over it, some more footsteps suddenly sounded outside the door a few seconds before the door burst open, revealing Crow and... Alessandro. My heart soared, and instantly, tears I couldn't shed suddenly burst out of me like a dam.
“Andrea!” he rushed to me, his face dark and murderous. He looks like the angel of death, larger than life, menacing and ruthless, especially in his all-black clothes. He picked me up and hugged me as I sobbed loudly.
“What the fuck happened to you?”
“It's Patrizio, he wanted to kill me, he hit me, and told me Valentina paid him to kill me. I killed Patrizio Alessandro. I shot him, I had to, ” I sob out, still in shock about how the morning had turned into a total disaster. Alessandro pulled me to him, smashing me against his chest.
“Hush, you're safe, Andrea, now. And trust me, you did the right fucking thing, you're so brave, I'm sorry I wasn't here to protect you,” he rumbled, his voice hard. He gently kissed my swollen lips. I flinch slightly. His eyes darkened even more.
“I'm glad you ended him. I would have killed him myself if you hadn't, and I would have made him suffer more. For what he did to you, he deserves more than he got. I'm so fucking proud of you,” he said, then kissed my head. My brows scrunched when something suddenly occurred to me.
“How did you know I was here? And shouldn't you be with Valentina celebrating your marriage?” I asked, taking a step away from him, when I'm reminded that he's now a married man.
Alessandro pulled me back into his arms and began to wipe the blood on my face with a handkerchief.
“I'm not married to her, Andrea. I never intended to get married to that bitch in the first place,” he said darkly with conviction. I blink, confused. What? Then who?
“What? But I saw…”
“Boss, we need to go.” Casio's voice cut through my confusion and question.
“Come on, Vixen, I will explain everything later, right now I need to get you out of here.” he held me close to his body as Casio took the lead, both alert and holding their guns in hand, ready for the unexpected.
Alessandro glared at Patrizio's dead body like he wanted to kill him all over again. When he stared into my eyes, his jaw ticked in that familiar way it does when he is angry. I know he was angry at the state I'm in.
