Chapter 106 Chapter: 106
ANDREA

In this world, with all these dangerous people surrounding me. I couldn't afford to be weak, though I am a captive facing more deadly opponents who didn't think twice about snuffing out a person's life.

I'm also a woman who had been pushed too far, a would-be mother who is highly fucking emotional right now, and who needed to stand up for the future of her child.

I won't be able to defend anyone, much less my baby, if I let this woman trample all over me. I know that standing up to her wouldn't change the fact that, come morning, Alessandro would be getting married to her.

But this isn't just about Alessandro anymore; this is about my innocent baby. Her assumption that I would let her raise my child is bold. But it would never happen. I will fucking make sure of it.

“You know, it could have saved you a great deal of heartache if you had talked to Don Marchetti or Alessandro into letting me go instead of being 'accepting and understanding, ' as you called it,” I said calmly, making a quote with two fingers.

“Because let's face it, I'm just a captive in this mansion, I have no say whatsoever here on what I can and can not do; only Alessandro and Don Marchetti have that power. Besides, even if I stay away from Alessandro, it wouldn't stop him from coming to me, and I'm not going to lie to you, I can't send him away if he did that,” I said innocently.

“You know him, he could be very, very convincing in and out of the bedroom. Alessandro always got his way, I mean, that's why I'm in this condition. knocked up,” I added slowly, with a little innocent laugh, rubbing my baby bump. Valentina looks like she was about to strangle me.

“I've never been able to say no to him in the past, believe I tried. I don't see much success in the future either, you know, he could be very…how do I say it? Um…demanding, yeah, demanding that's the word,” I insinuate with a smile, though inside my heart twisted, reminding me that he's going to be completely hers from tomorrow onwards.

It was a miracle how I managed to keep my face blank of all the pain and jealousy inside. But watching her face go completely hard, her eyes murderous, was priceless. It was satisfying to give her a taste of her own medicine, though I know it wouldn't last.

Watching her eyes twitch and that dark look on her face was so worth it. I'm taking that as a win. She stood up and covered the space between us. It was a scare tactic, standing over your opponent to intimidate them and make them feel small. With me sitting and her standing tall and regal over me, I had to raise my head to look into her eyes.

“I see, little girl, you have no idea what you're up against. You are one of many such side pieces; I'm the real deal. I've given you a fair warning: take it or leave it, your choice. Just know that I will make your existence a living nightmare.”

And that's fucking it. I've had enough. I pushed my chair and stood up, tucking my wayward hair behind my ears.

“Listen bitch..”

“What the fuck did you just call me?! She asked, cutting me off mid-sentence.

“I said bitch! Which is what you are,” I repeat, staring her dead in the eye, my heart was boiling in rage.

“I've had enough threats to last me a lifetime. I've been kidnapped and brought to this hellhole, I've been threatened, I've watched an innocent woman be shot because of me, and I've seen my friend who's been beaten to the point of death. I've lived in constant fear of what would happen to them if I refuse to cooperate for months, so excuse me if I'm not shaking in my booth right now because of how scared I should be of a murderer like you.”

“How dare you talk to me like…” she began.

“No, how dare you threaten my child! You think you are one hardass bitch, believe me, you're not the worst I've seen. Alessandro is engaged to you; he's going to marry you, not me. There's no need for petty jealousy and threatening his child. I'll advise against that because if any harm comes to my baby, it wouldn't matter who you are to him; he would kill you, and that's if Don Marchetti didn't get to you first. So stop threatening me, also stay the fuck away from me,” I said, glaring at her.

“One more thing, Alessandro would be your husband, not mine. It's your job to keep him away from me, not the other way around.”

“Fucking bitch I will teach you a lesson…”

“Valentina? What are you doing here?” that deep, familiar voice asked. I didn't have to turn around to know it's him.

Alessandro strode with Casio on his heels, dressed in an all-black suit, looking even more gorgeous than ever, all six feet plus of him; his hair had grown longer. He'd been away for almost a week, doing only God knows what. Seeing him was like a dagger to the heart; he's everything I want but couldn't have, with or without Valentina in the picture. As long as I want a normal life, I can't be with him.

Alessandro would never be just a normal man; he's dark, always would be, even if he could leave this world for me, which I know is impossible, he could never be the man I want in my life.

Though I love him, I have to let him go. I'm not delusional; he is who he is, and I can't change that. The hot, amazing, life-altering pleasure I got from him will have to be enough.

Just that thought is enough to gut me deep inside. Knowing that he's going to be forever out of reach, bound to another woman tomorrow, hurts so bad. Literally!

“Alessandro, you're here,” Valentina said, her expression doing a 360, going to him, her hands wrapped around his neck, his eyes glancing at me for a few seconds, holding mine, swirling with something I couldn't possibly understand.

I quickly averted my eyes, blinking back the tears that suddenly sprang to my eyes. I am not fucking going to cry. Though he's still gorgeous, Alessandro looks so tired and weary, like he hasn't slept for a while.

“How are you here?” he said, pushing away from Valentina, though his hands still held both her shoulders. I swallow the bitter saliva that was about to choke me.

“I just realized that with the wedding being scheduled in the morning, I will need to leave my house as early as possible, so as not to miss my own wedding. I talked to your Nonno, and we agreed it would be best if Matteo and I moved here so we wouldn't have to rush to get here in the morning. He told me you agreed to this,” she said, stroking his chest and neck with her manicured fingers.

God, how I wanted to claw her eyes out. Though I try not to watch them, I couldn't control myself. He smiled that occasional charming smile at her.

“Yeah, I did. I forgot about that, I'm just so exhausted after the eventful week I had.”

“Oh, poor you, you need to rest, Caro. I don't want you sleeping in the midst of our wedding vows,” she said with a laugh.

“You have nothing to worry about; that would certainly not happen. I take it Matteo's is here?”

“He will be here later.”

“Come, Caro, you need to take a bath…”

I couldn't take any more of that, before I could hear anything that would completely shatter my heart. I walked away from Alessandro and his would-be wife. I could feel his eyes on me as I took the steps, but I didn't turn around to see him.

I was feeling defeated on one hand and more than determined to leave before I'm forced to watch Alessandro marry that wretched woman.

I walked past Lorenzo, who was just coming down. I could see he wanted to say something, but I didn't want to talk to anyone. All I wanted at that moment was to be alone. I was relieved when I finally entered my room. Which was ironic, because it was my prison, I shouldn't be relieved that I'm back inside it, but I was.

I rushed to where I had hidden the few things I had stolen to help with my plans. A few hundred dollars I'd stolen from Alessandro's room, the phone he'd given to me, two sets of yoga pants and sweaters, and a set of sneakers plus two bottles of water.

But the most precious of them was my passport, which I found in his closet with my traveling bag, the one Patrizio, that bastard, had taken away from me at the airport months ago. I'd found it three nights ago when I snuck into Alessandro's room. That night, I missed him so terribly that I went to just lie down in his room and inhale his scent.

I never expected to find my things there, right in his closet. But I did, that was how a plan had begun to form inside my head. All I'm waiting for now is the right time to execute it, and I already know when that is. I put everything back inside the closet and lay down on the bed. Just lying there, wondering how everything will unfold come morning.

I sigh and sit up I need to shower, brush my teeth, and go to bed. I need rest, though I doubt I will be able to sleep with the anticipation inside me. I was just about to enter the bathroom when the door to my room opened. I glanced up and saw Lorenzo by the open door.
