Chapter 310 Coaxing the Wife 2

Chapter 310 Coaxing the Wife 2

The sky grew dark.

Steven came in from outside and sat by the bed, watching her for a while, gently stroking her long hair.

He had thought about letting her go.

But he couldn't do it anymore, so even if it hurt, he had to keep her by his side.

Feeling someone touching her head, Nora opened her eyes and saw Steven sitting in the twilight, looking at her tenderly.

When he wasn't angry, he was well-dressed and charmingly gentle.

When he got angry, he turned into a beast.

"You're awake?" His voice was soft. "Dinner's ready. I'll carry you out to eat."

She had no choice. He carried her out, her soft long hair falling over her shoulders.

Several dishes were laid out on the dining table.

Nora glanced at them, quite surprised.

"Did you buy these?" Nora wasn't sure. Last time when she was upset, Steven had cooked for her once, but it was hard to swallow.

Now seeing the same dishes as last time, that memory came flooding back.

Steven made a sound of agreement and handed her utensils. "Try it."

Nora's expression was complicated. "I don't want to eat."

"I worked so hard to make this." Steven immediately became unhappy. "If you don't eat, just try and see what happens."

Nora had no choice but to pick up her utensils and put a piece of beef in her mouth.

Then she froze.

It was actually pretty good.

She chewed and looked at the man quietly eating across from her. "Did you learn how to cook?"

The first time he cooked it was terrible, but this time it was obviously much better. He must have learned in private.

"You put in a lot of effort?" Nora asked him.

The taste was unexpectedly good.

Though seafood was always relatively easy to cook—as long as the sauce was right, it would taste good.

"Yes." He lifted his eyelids to look at her. "I learned from Chris."

He seemed to be waiting for her praise, looking at Nora.

But Nora ignored him, quietly eating her own food.

Steven sighed helplessly and said, "Although your cooking is delicious, we're a family. In a household, we can't always let the wife cook alone. Whoever has time should cook. From now on, let's follow this rule in our home, okay?"

Nora paused and looked up.

Steven continued, "When you're in a bad mood, I want to make something good for you to eat too."

Nora stopped eating.

When a man talks like this, what woman wouldn't be moved?

Especially after dinner, when he put the dishes in the dishwasher, turned on the robot vacuum, and even washed fruit and brought it to the guest bedroom before carrying her in.

Nora sat on the bed, watching him bustle about, and her tone wasn't as cold anymore. "You don't have to keep carrying me around. It's just my knee that's hurt, nothing serious."

"How did you get that cut on your knee?"

"That day when you carried Scarlett to the hospital, you knocked me down. I hit the iron flower stand and cut my knee."

Steven froze, not expecting that he had caused the knee injury. His eyes showed some guilt, and he squeezed her hand. "I'm sorry."

"If you really feel guilty, agree to the divorce."

"Are you going to keep bringing this up?" Steven's eyes looked at her coldly.

Nora stopped talking.

Steven went out for a bit, and when he came back in, he placed a box on her bedside table.

Nora looked over.

An exquisite jewelry box—it should be a gift or something.

She didn't touch it.

Steven said, "Don't you want to see what it is?"

Nora shook her head.

Seeing she was still angry, Steven opened the box himself. Inside was a very large gold bar.

Nora fell silent.

"Didn't you say before that when you're angry, you want to buy gold?" Steven looked at her. "You seem to have been pretty angry lately, so I bought you a big one all at once."

A large gold bar.

He had just bought it when he went out to get groceries.

The jewelry and jade that Elizabeth gave her only made Nora feel anxious—she didn't dare accept them.

But gold bars were different. Because gold bars weren't that expensive, Nora didn't feel as much psychological burden.

She glanced at Steven.

He sat by the bed, noble and elegant, naturally carrying a powerful presence.

Someone like a prince was now looking at her humbly, speaking to her in a low voice.

"I don't want to forgive you." Nora turned her head away.

Steven put the gold bar in her hand. "Feel the quality of this gold bar. Don't you like it?"

Nora pulled her hand back. "I said I don't want it."

"What are you still angry about? Can you tell me?" Steven coaxed.

But Nora turned her head away and silently went to sleep.

Steven picked up his phone and made a call. "Where is Jada now?"

"Mr. York, Ms. Jada York is out shopping with her friends."

Steven responded coolly, "Find some people and have her tied up and beaten."

Hearing this, Nora froze and turned to look at him. "Why are you having her beaten?"

"At the York Manor, didn't she keep provoking you? I'll find some people to teach her a lesson and help you get even."

Nora's angry, puffed-up emotions suddenly began to dissipate. She said sullenly, "But if you beat her, won't Electra come after you?"

"So what if she finds out?" Steven didn't really care.

"Won't she target you at the company?" As far as Nora knew, Electra also worked at the company.

"You're worried about me?" Steven looked at her.

Nora immediately bit her lip. "I'm not worried about you. I just don't want things to blow up over a few arguments."

"We've been at odds in the company for a long time. It's no big deal." Steven touched her head.

Nora's heart stirred, and she finally said, "But you don't understand—I'm not angry because of Jada."

Steven looked at her.

Since Nora had started, she might as well say it all. "At that time, she told me to help Grandma trim the flowers and gave me scissors. I took them, and then she stabbed herself and cried out that I had stabbed her. Then you carried her to the hospital and pushed me so I hit the iron flower stand..."

This was the whole story.

After Nora finished, Steven's face showed no change.

Nora was disappointed.

Her eyes dimmed. She knew it—Steven cared more about Scarlett.

She turned around, quietly facing away from him.

Her arm tightened. Steven grabbed her arm and said in a low voice, "Scarlett saved me."

Nora looked over.

Steven said, "You know I used to have frequent headaches. Once when I was walking on the street, my headache acted up and I fell into the water. She saved me. Otherwise, I wouldn't be alive now."

Nora froze.

"If this really bothers you, I'll talk to her..." His expression was somewhat complicated, clearly reluctant to pursue it.

Nora whispered softly, "You want me to forgive her?"

"I'll have her apologize to you, but that's all I can do. She's seriously ill right now. Is that okay?"

Nora pressed her lips together. She wasn't that unreasonable either. She lowered her eyes and said, "I just wanted you to know that I didn't do anything to hurt her."

"Okay, I know." He pulled her leg over and gently touched her knee. "It must have hurt a lot then?"

"Of course it did." Nora fell back on the pillow, her voice quite aggrieved. "Hitting my knee hurt so much, and then your dad made me stand as punishment. I hated your whole family."

Steven smiled and touched her head. "Next time you encounter this kind of situation, fight back. Remember, I'm behind you. I'll protect you."

"You're more likely to bully me." Her tone was sullen. "The one who loves bullying me most is you. And everyone in your family has power and influence. How can I fight back? I'm just an ordinary person. Without you, I'd be eaten alive in no time."

"I said I'll protect you, so I will."

"I don't want your protection." His personality was so unpredictable—Nora didn't want his protection anymore.

Steven leaned down, frowning slightly. "I've explained so much to you, and you're still throwing a tantrum?"

"This isn't about throwing a tantrum. This is about being disappointed."

"Am I really that bad?"

"Yes." Nora's anger hadn't subsided. She turned away and ignored him.

Steven hugged her.

Nora tried to push him away. Steven said, "Let me hold you, okay?"

His tone was pleading, sounding pitiful.

What Nora feared most was when he acted cute—it made her soften instantly.

She pouted but didn't say anything more.

Steven held her for a while, then moved his head closer, wanting to kiss her lips.

Nora turned her head away to dodge, frowning. "No!"

Very resistant.

Steven sighed and looked at her pitifully. "Just one kiss."

"I don't want you to kiss me."

"Just once." He held down her small hands, leaned down, and greedily sucked on her lips once, then pulled back, looking at her with deep eyes.

The two stared at each other for a few seconds.

The atmosphere suddenly became strange.

Nora blushed and ignored him. "I'm going to sleep."

"Okay." Steven's hot breath fell on her lips. "Sleep."

"How can I sleep if you don't leave?"

"You sleep, I'll watch. It won't interfere."

She frowned and pulled the blanket up higher. "You're really annoying."

Obviously she was affected by his teasing and was pulling up the blanket out of shyness.

Steven smiled and went to pull her blanket, leaning close to her ear and gently teasing her. "Shy?"

"Get lost." Her words had more emotion than before.

Steven's heart softened completely. He pressed on, moving closer and biting her ear. "You haven't showered yet."

"I showered at the resort."

"But just now at the resort, I made you all sweaty. Don't you want to shower again?" Steven's voice was husky.

He dared to bring up what just happened—he was the one who pressed her against the wall and scared her so much she broke into a sweat.

Thinking of that scene, her ears turned red. She said in a low voice, "It was all your fault."

"Let me help you shower?"

Nora's eyelashes trembled. She wanted to say no, but she was already being carried out.

"What are you doing..." Nora said.

He looked at her deeply. Nora immediately sensed danger and didn't dare speak.

Steven leaned in and took her lips, his burning body temperature making Nora uncomfortable too. "Just now at the resort, you teased me so much I was suffering..."

Damn, asking for sex right after a fight.

What kind of thinking was that?

Nora tried to push him away, but he shamelessly clung to her, holding her, his hand wandering over her slender back.

He was taking off her underwear.

Nora's face couldn't help but turn red. Her fingers gripped his shoulder. "No!"
