Chapter 305 Aria Wants to Take Nora as Her Disciple
Chapter 305 Aria Wants to Take Nora as Her Disciple
"Mrs. York!" Lyra stamped her foot and followed, insisting on stuffing the box of desserts into Nora's hands.
Nora looked at her coldly. "Lyra, how about this - you keep this box of desserts, and later you can tell Mrs. Bennett that Electra prepared it, and I'll give the one I prepared myself."
Lyra froze, not knowing how to respond.
This was Jada's instruction. If she said it was from Electra, wouldn't the Bennett family hate Electra?
This was clearly a setup.
Nora saw through her thoughts, gave a cold laugh, and walked away.
The Bennett family's butler led them inside.
Nora looked back and saw Lyra toss the hot potato of a dessert box into the garden.
Just as she thought - there was something wrong with that box of desserts. It looked fancy and expensive, but would actually offend people even more.
"Mrs. York, wait for me!" Lyra caught up, feeling upset, not knowing how she'd explain this to Jada later.
The two met Aria in the Bennett family's kitchen.
Aria was frying fish, wearing a snow-white apron, looking elegant and gentle.
"You're here." Aria acknowledged them without turning around, her eyes fixed on the fish, worried about burning it.
"Hello, Mrs. Bennett." Lyra greeted her.
"Just wait, my fish will be ready soon." Aria finished frying the fish and put it in the oven to bake, keeping busy.
Lyra said to Nora, "Mrs. York, why don't you go talk to Mrs. Bennett yourself."
"Okay." Nora walked over.
Lyra watched from behind, expecting a scene, but Nora called out clearly and crisply, "Aria."
Aria?
Lyra sneered inwardly. How dare she call her that?
But Aria smiled. "Yesterday Electra called and said she wanted you to come apologize to me. I thought it would be nice to see you, so I agreed."
Lyra was stunned. What was going on?
Aria took Nora's hand and said, "I made some dishes today. I'll let you try them later."
"Sounds great." Nora nodded with a smile.
"This dish is my latest creation." Aria glanced at Nora, who stood before her, beautiful and dignified.
Such a likeable appearance.
The more Aria looked, the more she liked her.
Mainly, they clicked.
"I brought chestnut brownies today too." Nora smiled, feeling happy to see Aria.
Aria was surprised. "Is it the improved version?"
"Yes."
"You finished it so quickly?"
"Not really, I failed many times." Nora said.
"I'll try it later then."
The two chatted while Aria cooked the fish and Nora helped prepare the sauce.
For some reason, Lyra felt they seemed like people who'd known each other for years, oddly like... mother and daughter...
"Why does it smell so good?"
A tall, handsome figure walked into the kitchen.
Lyra glanced over, blushed, and nodded in greeting. "Mr. Bennett."
Louis glanced at Lyra, ignored her, and walked into the kitchen. "Nora, you're here?"
"Yes." Nora answered while tasting the sauce.
Lyra was completely confused.
This scene wasn't quite right.
She'd expected the Bennett family to humiliate Nora, but the atmosphere was so harmonious?
The three chatted and placed Aria's fried fish and Nora's chestnut brownies on the dining table.
Lyra stepped forward and asked Nora, "Mrs. York, do you know Mrs. Bennett and Mr. Bennett?"
"Of course." Nora blinked. "Surprising, isn't it?"
Lyra's face stiffened, turning the color of liver.
How could this be?
"Come taste together." Aria invited everyone to the table.
Lyra didn't dare, waving her hand. "No need, Mrs. Bennett, I already had lunch."
Aria didn't insist, letting Nora and Louis try the food.
Nora brought out her prepared brownies.
The three quietly enjoyed the delicious food.
Nora scooped a spoonful of fish into her mouth.
Aria also took a bite of the chestnut brownie.
Their expressions were identical as they pondered. Louis looked at them both and couldn't help laughing. "If someone who didn't know you saw this, they'd definitely think you were mother and daughter."
Both Nora and Aria froze, looked at each other, and laughed.
"Why did this chestnut brownie become even more delicious?" Aria took another small bite, her face full of disbelief. "It's an unimaginable taste. I tried many methods before but couldn't achieve this level. How did you do it?"
"Since it's called chestnut brownie, the chestnut flavor should be primary. I felt the chestnut flavor wasn't strong enough before, so I roasted the chestnut shells and made them into a juice to cook with." Nora explained.
"You can do that?" Aria was amazed. "I never thought of that."
"I only knew after researching a lot." Nora smiled lightly.
"You're really talented." After praising her, Aria asked, "What about my fish?"
"Very delicious." Louis praised generously.
But Aria didn't believe him at all, just said, "You be quiet and eat."
Louis fell silent.
His own mother had dismissed him.
Nora wanted to laugh and said, "The taste is very unique. The outside is crispy and fragrant, but the inside is tender. The heat control is excellent."
Hearing Nora's praise, Aria was as happy as a child. "Really?"
"I praise you and you don't believe me, but when Nora praises you, you believe her?" Louis looked helpless.
"When one genius praises another genius, that's when you get that refreshing feeling, understand?" Aria glanced at Louis matter-of-factly, then asked Nora, "Nora, do you think there's anything about this dish that needs improvement?"
Nora thought for a moment. "You could change the oil for the sauce, it might taste even better."
Aria was so pleased with Nora. "You must have a very sensitive palate."
This was an extremely rare talent.
Aria used to have it too, but as she got older, her sense of taste wasn't as good. The best palate combined with culinary talent - that's what you call a gift from above.
"You should go into cooking." Aria sincerely felt that Nora should devote herself to the culinary world. Aria even wanted to take her as an apprentice. This was the first time in years she'd had such an impulsive thought, and she couldn't help but say it out loud. "Nora, would you like to be my apprentice?"
Nora was shocked.
Louis was quite surprised too.
What was happening?
His sickly mother suddenly became so passionate and excited - he wasn't quite used to it.
Seeing Nora's silence, Aria felt a bit disappointed and sighed. "Actually, I've been looking for someone to pass things on to..."
"Just be my apprentice!" That was Aria's main point.
Nora couldn't bear to refuse her, so she said, "Although I'm quite interested in cooking, I'm currently starting a business and might not have time for cooking."
"It won't interfere! You can learn cooking while starting your business. With your talent, you should make a name for yourself in the culinary world."
It would be a lie to say she wasn't tempted.
After all, food was her hobby.
But she felt she should think it over carefully. She smiled at Aria and said, "Let me think about it."
She wanted to discuss it with Olivia. Starting a business wasn't that easy either.
"Okay." Aria didn't force her.
That afternoon.
Aria took her to the garden for snacks.
The weather was nice, the sun wasn't too strong, the wind wasn't too cold. Sitting on the grass with a gentle breeze made one feel wonderful.
"Mrs. Bennett, Mr. Bennett's business partner is here with gifts." The butler came over to tell Aria.
Aria nodded, turned to Nora and said, "Nora, I have something to handle. Wait here for me."
"Okay." Nora took a sip of tea. A leisurely afternoon was really nice.
Aria got up and left.
Nora's phone rang. She looked - it was Steven calling.
It was already after four in the afternoon.
Time passed quickly with Aria and Louis, not boring at all.
"Hello." Nora answered the phone.
"Where did you go?" Steven stood at home. He was wearing a black trench coat today, making him look even taller and more upright. "I just got home. Why are there so many gifts in the living room? Who came by?"
"The gifts were sent by Electra's secretary."
"Lyra?" Steven frowned slightly. "Why did she have things sent over? And where are you?"
"Electra had me come to the Bennett family to apologize to Mrs. Bennett. I'm here now." Nora answered flatly.
"Did they give you a hard time?" Steven's expression darkened slightly. "I'll come get you."
"Don't come. I'm fine. Mrs. Bennett is nice. I'm having snacks with her." With Steven, Nora still answered every question for now.
To avoid upsetting him again.
She tried to respond calmly.
If Steven wouldn't let her go because she knew his secret, then she could only wait.
But from now on, she'd guard her heart and not put all her feelings into Steven. She'd treat him like an ordinary roommate, live her own life well, and do her own work.
"I'm coming now." Steven said, leaving no room for argument.
Nora frowned but finally said, "Whatever you want."
She couldn't stop him anyway.
"I didn't expect you could butter up my mom. How impressive." Vivian's voice came from behind.
Nora turned and saw Vivian standing in the sunlight wearing an elegant suit dress.
Her face was hard to see clearly in the light.
Nora couldn't be bothered with her.
Vivian walked over, her posture lazy. "I didn't know why Steven liked you before, but now I know - it's because you look like Scarlett."
After Scarlett returned to the country, there was a lot of gossip about her and Steven. That's when Vivian learned that Steven and Scarlett had a relationship abroad.
And on New Year's, Steven left Nora at the York Manor and carried Scarlett to the hospital.
This was now the talk of high society circles.
Vivian was thrilled.
So after all their fighting, they both failed - Scarlett was the real winner.
