Chapter 211 Steven Crashes His Car into Andrew
Andrew's face darkened. "I'm really doing this for your own good. Don't think Steven is some simple guy. Divorce him as soon as possible, or you'll suffer later."
Nora stared at him coldly.
"Do you know he has a fiancée named Vivian?" Andrew suddenly asked.
Nora's heart jolted. He even knew about this?
Andrew's tone became serious. "The Bennett family isn't an ordinary family. They're not easy to deal with. If you want to compete with Vivian for Steven, you need to see if you have what it takes. Do you really want to go up against the entire Bennett family?"
The Bennett Group flashed through Nora's mind—that family that frequently appeared in tech news.
But Steven didn't like Vivian. Nora could tell. She couldn't help but argue back, "But Steven doesn't like her."
"So what?" Andrew shot back. "Who says marriage needs love? There are plenty of marriages based on mutual benefit. Do you know how many advantages there are to marrying Vivian? And what advantages would marrying you bring?"
Nora fell silent.
Andrew looked at her. If she hadn't saved him twice, he wouldn't even bother saying all this. "Anyway, you should divorce Steven. That's what's best for you. Don't explain this recent misunderstanding either. Let them think you're my woman. That works in your favor."
Nora didn't believe him at all. She snorted coldly, "I'd have to be an idiot to believe you."
"Then I'll go tell him myself, tell him you're my woman. That way he'll definitely believe it." Andrew's tone was provocative.
"How dare you?!" Nora's face changed dramatically. She started hitting him with her umbrella, not caring how hard it was raining.
In the quiet rainy night, a BMW slowly pulled up to Harman Tower.
Nora was chasing Andrew through the rain with her umbrella, hitting at him while Andrew dodged and laughed.
The scene didn't look like enemies—it looked more like a couple playing around.
Sitting in the back seat, Steven's eyes flashed with suppressed jealousy.
"Don't run!" Nora chased after him. Just as she was about to swing the umbrella at Andrew, she saw the BMW through the rain.
Her body suddenly froze.
In the rain, the BMW's window slowly rolled down, revealing Steven's stern face, his eyes so intense they made her heart skip.
Nora's first thought was—I'm done for.
Andrew caught Steven's gaze, his lips curving slightly upward. He pulled the stunned Nora into his arms. "Baby, thanks for this. Thanks for helping me win so beautifully. From today on, come back to me."
Nora's face changed instantly. She pushed him away in a second and kicked him hard in the leg.
"Ah!" Andrew clutched his leg in pain. "You woman! Always so rough. If you keep this up, I won't like you anymore!"
Nora's lips turned pale. She only stared at Steven in the car.
His gaze fell on her, his eyes seeming to hold hatred, yet also appearing empty.
Nora no longer knew how to explain.
Andrew deliberately shot Steven a challenging look.
Steven narrowed his eyes. The next second, the car suddenly accelerated, charging straight at Andrew.
Andrew's pupils dilated. He grabbed the panicked Nora and jumped into the nearby flower bed. "Steven, are you crazy!"
He turned to curse angrily.
That man who usually kept his emotions hidden, who was always so composed, actually tried to run him over because of a few words?
Even Andrew was a bit scared.
Steven let out a cold laugh, raised the window, and sped away.
Nora stared blankly as the car disappeared into the dark, rainy night.
The pain in her chest was impossible to ignore.
Nora looked disheveled, her eyelashes lowered, saying nothing.
Andrew frowned. "Is it really worth it? Without him, your life will be better, freer. Don't be sad."
"You're just a bastard." Nora slapped Andrew across the face.
He looked completely shocked, covering his face, his eyes turning cold. "You dare hit me? Do you know who I am?"
Nora didn't answer. She dropped the umbrella and walked away, looking lost.
Andrew's expression changed, his chest tightening slightly. In the end, he didn't chase after her, his expression becoming dark and complicated.
Nora walked for a bit before realizing she'd been walking in the rain the whole time.
She was so out of it that she'd forgotten about the weather.
She sighed deeply and kept walking. Riverside Apartment was only one subway stop from Harman Tower—about half an hour on foot.
She walked slowly with her eyes downcast. By the time she reached Riverside Apartment, she was soaked through.
From the apartment complex garden, she looked up at the 20th floor.
The lights were on.
Nora felt somewhat timid, as if she didn't know how to face Steven, but she also knew she had to.
When she reached the door and was about to use her fingerprint, the door opened from inside.
Steven stood in the doorway, wearing a dark gray suit, his features cold and stern. He looked like he was about to leave.
Nora froze, looking at him, not knowing what to say.
Steven's eyes held coldness. Then his gaze moved down, seeing her hair and clothes completely soaked.
"Walked back in the rain?" Steven's tone was cold. "Your baby didn't take you home?"
Nora's heart tightened. Just as she was about to speak, he pulled her inside and pushed her into the second bedroom.
"Go change your clothes."
Nora blinked, a bit confused—was he not angry anymore?
She came out wearing a nightgown.
Steven stood on the balcony smoking, his eyes tinged with faint sadness. Seeing her come out, as if he'd finally made a decision, his voice was calm. "Tomorrow I'll have someone come pack up my things. I won't be coming back anymore."
He meant they were over.
Nora's face turned deathly pale.
He looked down with a smile and said, "There wasn't much feeling between us anyway. Breaking up is breaking up. Fortunately, I haven't fallen in love with you yet. We only slept together a few times—I'll naturally forget after we separate."
Steven said there wasn't much feeling between them, that he hadn't fallen in love with her.
Nora couldn't speak. Her chest felt like it had been struck hard.
So only she had been in love with him.
She stood there in a daze.
Steven took a ring box from his pocket, walked into the living room, and casually placed it on the table. "That iron box you threw away that day—I picked it back up. I'm returning this ring to you, and this rabbit hair clip. Go sell them. Someone will buy them if you price them cheap enough."
"That night, you saw me throw it away?" Nora was shocked.
"Yes." Steven nodded lightly, his eyes showing no emotion, completely different from his earlier loss of control while driving.
Now he was cold to the extreme.
"Maybe you were right to throw it away. I really don't need it anymore." He slowly took a drag of his cigarette, looking into her eyes.
Nora's eyes dimmed.
His words were like a thorn stuck in her throat.
"So you really are going to marry Vivian?"
