Chapter 198 He Saw Her Throw Away the Wedding Ring

Chapter 198 He Saw Her Throw Away the Wedding Ring

"Ms. Adams, can you come over?" James was still on the phone, asking.

Nora snapped back to reality and nodded, "Okay, send me the location, and I'll head over now."

Even though they'd had a big fight tonight, thinking about how he had nowhere to stay, she still decided to pick him up.

Nora threw on a thick coat and grabbed the car keys from behind the door. After Steven left, he'd even left the Audi for her.

Thinking about how he'd left everything for her while keeping nothing for himself made Nora's feelings even more complicated.

Maybe they really did need to have a proper talk.

After all, you can't take everything said in anger seriously.

With this thought, she felt a bit better and changed her shoes to head out.

In the private room, Steven was drunk, lying back on the sofa with his eyes closed.

James went out to pay the bill.

Just then, Vivian arrived.

One of the executives who knew about her relationship with Steven had deliberately called her, saying Steven was drinking alone at the club.

So Vivian had dressed up carefully and rushed over.

She pushed open the door to the private room and called softly, "Steven..."

Steven was already drunk, lying on the sofa with his arm covering his forehead, his face slightly flushed.

He looked especially good like this.

Vivian crouched down and gazed at him quietly, her eyes full of admiration and affection.

She believed that women could only have stable relationships if they admired their men.

During this time, because of the project, she'd been seeing Steven almost every day. The more she understood his abilities, the more excellent she found him.

Vivian was actually quite willing to marry him.

She reached out to touch Steven's face.

But Steven grabbed her hand, his eyes cold, "What do you think you're doing?"

Just then, Nora pushed open the door to the private room.

"Steven."

Hearing Nora's voice, Vivian immediately had an idea. She pretended to lose her balance and fell directly onto Steven, "Steven..."

So when Nora walked in, she saw Steven and Vivian embracing.

Her heart felt like something had viciously grabbed it.

If before it was just speculation, now, seeing the two of them in such an intimate position with her own eyes, her last bit of hope was completely shattered.

Her eyes instantly blurred, and she instinctively turned and ran out.

Seeing Nora leave, Steven felt a sharp pain in his heart and pushed Vivian away forcefully.

"Get away from me!"

Vivian was pushed so hard she hit the table, cutting her forehead. Blood trickled down.

Steven didn't care about her and immediately stood up to chase after Nora.

Vivian grabbed his pant leg, crying out, "Steven, have you fallen in love with her?"

Steven's movement stopped. He turned back and looked down at Vivian, his eyes cold as ice.

But Vivian wasn't scared at all. She looked up at him, "But you know very well that the York family won't agree to you marrying her! If you really get together with her, she can only be your secret woman. Is that what you want for her?"

Vivian didn't care that Steven didn't like her right now. She believed that once they were married, they could slowly develop feelings for each other.

As for Nora, she figured Steven would forget about her sooner or later.

Steven stared at her darkly, "You deliberately fell on me just now, didn't you?"

"Yes!" Vivian was almost hysterical, "You're my fiancé, why should I give you up to her?"

Steven's eyes were full of disgust, "You're overthinking it. Even if I can't marry her, I would never marry you."

Vivian's face turned pale. "How am I worse than her?"

"I just don't like you. I didn't like you before, and I won't like you now."
After Steven finished speaking, he left the private room without looking back, his retreating figure frighteningly cold.

Those words hit Vivian like a slap in the face.

She sat on the floor in a daze.

But she still wasn't willing to give up at all.

She took out her phone and called Andrew, "Andrew, did you know Nora started a company? It's on the 27th floor of Harman Tower..."

Steven left the club and couldn't find any trace of Nora.

She'd driven the Audi back first.

Steven had sobered up quite a bit, but he knew he couldn't drive. He frowned and called James, "Where are you?"

"Mr. York, I'm settling the bill."

"I'm at the entrance, bring the car over."

"Okay!" Soon, James drove the car over.

Steven got in the car, rubbing his temples, and said tiredly, "Go to Riverside Apartment."

James observed Steven's expression and asked tentatively, "Mr. York, did you and Ms. Adams have another disagreement tonight?"

Steven's sharp gaze swept over him, "You're the one who told her to come?"

"Yes, I saw you'd had too much to drink and thought you needed someone to take care of you, so I called Ms. Adams."

Steven was silent for a moment, then asked, "Did she agree quickly?"

"Yes, Ms. Adams didn't hesitate. She told me to send her the location right away."

Steven was a bit surprised. He hadn't expected that after saying such harsh things tonight, Nora would still be willing to come pick him up and take care of him...

His mind was in chaos, not knowing what she was really thinking.

Half an hour later, the car arrived at Riverside Apartment.

Steven got out of the car and walked through the complex. From a distance, he saw Nora standing by the trash can, holding a cookie tin.

She was staring at the trash can, her shoulders trembling slightly, as if she was crying.

Steven stopped and stood in the darkness, quietly watching her.

After a while, Nora seemed to make up her mind. She threw the tin in her hand into the trash can, then turned and left.

Steven waited until she'd walked away before going to the trash can and picking up the tin she'd thrown away.

He opened the tin and froze completely.

Inside were little things he'd given her - a rabbit hair clip, a few coupons, and a dark green gift box.

Steven stared at the small gift box, his heart suddenly aching. He slowly opened it.

Inside was a man's wedding ring.

Steven's eyes immediately reddened.

This was what she'd said she wanted to give him before.

She'd actually bought it.

Steven moved as if in slow motion, taking out the ring and putting it on his ring finger. It fit perfectly.

How did she know his ring size?

Steven looked up toward Building A in the darkness. The lights on the 20th floor were still on, and a slender figure stood on the balcony, as if lost in thought.

His heart felt like something was pressing down on it tightly, the pain making even his lips turn pale.

If she really didn't care about him, why would she rush to the club in the middle of the night to pick him up?

If she really only cared about money, why would she throw away everything he'd given her?

He'd probably hurt her again.

Around 3 a.m.

Nora tossed and turned in bed, unable to sleep at all.

She sniffled and grabbed tissues to wipe her tears, unable to stop.

Her mind was in turmoil. She simply sat up, threw on a coat, and at 4 a.m. ran downstairs, wanting to retrieve the tin she'd thrown away.

But the tin was already gone - the trash had been collected by the cleaners.

Nora stood there blankly, feeling like she'd suddenly lost all her strength.

The next day.

Nora slept until after 10 a.m., in terrible shape, having barely closed her eyes all night.

But no matter how bad she felt, work couldn't be delayed.

She patted her face, telling herself to pull it together.

"That's it, stop thinking about it."

"Since he's already made his decision, just respect it."

"Just pretend you never knew him, throw away these memories too, and then you won't feel sad."

Nora said to the mirror.

Looking at herself with swollen red eyes in the mirror, she took a deep breath, "Nora, starting today, you need to pull yourself together. The company is already up and running, and  the money's been invested. Every day you don't work is a day of wasted money. If you keep being this way, failing at your business, and going into debt, it will be what you deserve."

"So, snap out of it!"

"Remember, love, isn't everything in life. Make money first. Only when you've made money do you have the right to talk about dreams."

"If you want romance, wait until you have money!"

After saying this, Nora shook off the sadness in her heart and started brushing her teeth and washing her face.

Pushing open the company's glass door, Nora said to the air, "Morning! Another day of hard work begins. I must work hard today!"

As soon as she finished speaking, laughter came from behind her.

Nora's body stiffened. She turned around and saw Andrew leaning against the company entrance, tall and imposing.

"I didn't expect you to talk to yourself! 'Another day of hard work,' haha..." Andrew had a smile on his lips.

Nora's expression changed.

Steven was right.

Andrew hadn't gone back to The Iron Country at all. He was just a guy with bad intentions.

"How did you know my company was here?" Nora narrowed her eyes.

Andrew smiled, "Why the interrogation face? Do I look like a bad guy?"

"Yes!" Nora nodded without hesitation. If the entrance wasn't piled with packages, she would have closed the door already.

So she walked over and started moving the packages into the company.

"Let me help you." Andrew helped her carry some of the bigger ones.

Nora glanced at him, "Mr. Hayes, what exactly do you want?"

She still didn't know his real name.

"Can't I come see a friend?" Andrew said with a smile, "And talk some business with you while I'm at it."

"Forget it." Being able to complete that last order was good enough.

She didn't want any business dealings with him in the future. This guy had too many schemes, and the order amounts were large. If she got scammed on one or two orders, she'd lose all her capital.

"How come after just a few days, Ms. Adams, you've become so guarded against me?" Andrew walked into the company.

Nora blocked him, "Sorry, the company doesn't welcome you."

She closed the glass door, preparing to lock it with a U-lock so she could open it herself, but Andrew couldn't get in.

Andrew stood outside smiling, "If you really lock the door, I'll lock one on the outside too. Let's see if you can get out."

Nora fell silent.

If he really locked the door, she'd be trapped in the company.

After thinking about it, she still opened the door. With the door open, she wasn't afraid of being locked in, and if something happened, she could call for help.

Across the way was a big company with lots of employees. If something happened, someone would definitely help.
