Chapter 153: How About Giving Steven a Wedding Ring?
"What are you staring at the condoms for?" Steven suddenly said.
Nora's hand shook as she hung up clothes. She snapped back to reality, "Nothing!"
"You curious?" Steven walked over and casually picked up a box. "Want me to open one and show you?"
"...No, I don't!"
After refusing, Nora hung up her clothes one by one, her ears turning red.
Steven saw her embarrassment and secretly smiled.
Then he walked over to help her, "Let me organize your clothes. You go take a shower."
Nora immediately understood what he meant.
He was hinting for her to hurry up.
Nora's heart raced.
That bastard Steven was way too impatient!
It was only just past eight in the evening!
He even smiled meaningfully as he instructed, "Wash yourself thoroughly."
Nora's heart immediately started pounding fast. She grabbed her nightgown in a fluster and went to shower.
When she entered the bathroom, her whole face was red.
She covered it with her hands, looking in the mirror, and then realized... her wedding ring was missing!
Where was the ring?
She thought for a moment and remembered - at noon while cooking, she had taken it off and placed it on the small stand on the computer desk in her room.
Nora went to get it, only to find the diamond ring was really gone!
Nora's eyes widened. She went to the master bedroom to ask Steven, "Steven, my diamond ring is missing!"
Steven was helping her hang clothes. He turned to look at her, "How did it go missing?"
"I took it off at noon while cooking and left it in my room. Now it's gone." Nora was a bit anxious - this was her wedding ring!
It symbolized their marriage!
Steven suddenly remembered a scene from noon.
Jasmine had been looking in the mirror in Nora's room. At the time, her hand was sparkling, and thinking back now, Jasmine might have been wearing Nora's ring while looking in the mirror.
Steven's expression grew stern, "It was probably Jasmine who took it."
"How do you know?"
"I saw her in your room at noon, and her hand was sparkling. She might have been wearing your ring while looking in the mirror."
Hearing this, Nora felt very upset - that was her wedding ring!
How could Jasmine do this? Taking it secretly like that.
She called Jasmine.
At that moment, Jasmine was hiding in her room, looking at Nora's diamond ring.
She wore it on her hand, feeling pleased, but didn't dare let anyone know. She felt both guilty and excited.
Seeing Nora's call, Jasmine's hand shook in fright, but she still answered, pretending to sound sleepy, "Hello."
"Jasmine, when you came to our place today, did you happen to pick up anything?"
Nora was still being considerate of her.
If Jasmine had said, 'I think I did pick up a ring, but I don't know whose it is,' Nora would have let it go.
But instead Jasmine said, "No."
"No?" Nora pressed her lips together, her voice turning cold, "My wedding ring is missing."
Jasmine's eyebrows twitched. She said angrily, "What does your missing wedding ring have to do with me? Are you accusing me of stealing your ring? Do you have proof?"
"Jasmine, you're welcome to visit, but doing something like this is just wrong."
Jasmine remained stubborn, "If you have evidence, call the police to arrest me. If you don't, watch your mouth. If I hear you spreading rumors outside, I'll come to your place and tear your mouth apart!"
Jasmine was used to being aggressive. The Adams family members were all afraid of her, so she wasn't afraid of Nora.
Steven was listening to Nora's conversation - she had it on speaker.
Just as Nora was about to speak, Steven stopped her and said in a deep voice, "It's me, Steven."
Hearing Steven's voice, Jasmine's heart stirred. She smiled and said, "Steven, it's you. Nora is falsely accusing me. You heard everything just now, right? She's making accusations without any evidence. Being wrongly accused like this really hurts my feelings."
Jasmine wanted Steven to scold Nora. She continued to slander her, "Nora, we need to talk about evidence in everything. You're accusing me of no reason - how can we get along in the future? I'm your sister-in-law. You don't show me any respect at all. Even though I don't have much money, I'm an honest person. I always act with a clear conscience. Today you're being so unreasonable - how can I hold my head up in the Adams family in the future?"
She put on the airs of a sister-in-law, not only refusing to return the ring but also demanding an apology from Nora.
Steven said calmly, "Jasmine, you know we have security cameras at home, right?"
Jasmine's expression changed dramatically.
Nora also looked at Steven in surprise. Steven made a shushing gesture.
Nora caught on - he was bluffing Jasmine. The house only had cameras in the study; there weren't any elsewhere.
"We've already seen from the surveillance footage that you took Nora's ring. Otherwise, we wouldn't have called you. I'm giving you until now to bring the ring back immediately, or we'll hand the footage over to the police. Getting charged with theft and having a criminal record wouldn't look too good."
This diamond ring wasn't very expensive, but it was wedding jewelry that Elizabeth had given to Nora, and she treasured it dearly.
Jasmine didn't dare speak anymore.
She was so frightened that she went pale. After a long while, she finally said, "It's already late. Let me bring it back to you tomorrow."
Nora was afraid she would drag it out.
That was just Jasmine's character - putting off today until tomorrow, tomorrow until the day after, then wearing it out to show off, just never returning it.
Unless you demanded it to her face, she would reluctantly return it. So Nora said, "I'll come get it now."
It would take at most an hour to get there. She wanted to get it back right away to feel at ease!
Steven shook his head, "No need, I'll handle it."
Steven took the phone and said to Jasmine, "I'm booking a courier now. He'll be at your place soon. I'll have him take photos, and you give him the diamond ring."
Jasmine was speechless inside. Just for one diamond ring, sending someone to pick it up immediately - was it really necessary? What would happen if she wore it for a few days?
Steven hung up and called James.
Then James disguised himself as a courier, drove to the Adams House residential building, and went up to retrieve Nora's diamond ring.
Jasmine still didn't want to give it up. She said resentfully, "That was really fast!"
"Please take out the diamond ring. We need to take photos." James was not polite to her at all.
Jasmine reluctantly gave the diamond ring to James; she kept spewing nasty words.
"Married a rich husband and now you're tough, huh? You even dare to fight back against me. Nora, good for you. Just you wait."
James turned a deaf ear. He checked the diamond ring, confirmed it was correct, put it in an envelope, and left.
Jasmine kicked over a stool behind him, but lost her balance, got caught by the stool, and fell down!
James couldn't help but laugh out loud.
"What are you laughing at?" Jasmine glared at him, supporting her aching waist as she stood up, and slammed the door shut!
James thought to himself that she was nothing but a shrew!
In less than an hour, the diamond ring was delivered back to Riverside Apartment.
Nora had just finished showering when she heard the doorbell. She wanted to answer it.
Steven sensed it was James and quickly walked out from the master bedroom, stopping her, "You don't need to. I'll get the door."
"Okay." Nora was wearing her nightgown.
Steven glanced at her. She looked very sexy in her nightgown. Steven didn't want other men to see her!
He opened the door, and it was indeed James outside.
He handed the envelope to Steven and quietly relayed, "When I went to get it, that Jasmine kept rambling on and on, badmouthing Mrs. York. Mr. York, you should have Mrs. York stay away from her."
Jasmine was not a good woman!
Steven nodded slightly, "I know."
He thought the same.
Walking back down the hallway, Nora was standing in the bathroom applying skincare products. She had just finished showering, and her skin was all tender.
Steven glanced at her, raised his hand, took her small hand in his, and led her back to the room. "From now on, when you shower, use the bathroom in the master bedroom."
"OK." She agreed, "Olivia isn't back yet."
"The front door isn't locked. When she comes back, she can just go to her room and sleep."
Steven brought Nora back to the master bedroom, closed the door, and even locked it.
The moment that the lock clicked, Nora's face turned red, because she knew what it meant.
Nora stood there, not knowing how to react.
Steven scooped her up in his arms.
Nora couldn't help but feel her heart tremble. She wrapped her arms around his neck, "You startled me!"
"Got the diamond ring back."
Steven's voice was tender, his gaze alluring too.
Nora was placed on the bed by him, her head against the pillow.
She immediately tried to sit up, feeling a bit uncomfortable, her body also tensing up, "Let me see."
"Let me." Steven took the diamond ring out of the envelope.
Nora reached for it, but Steven stopped her again, "Hold out your hand."
He wanted to put the diamond ring on her.
Nora's heart trembled, as if something was welling up inside, very sweet.
She held out her hand.
"Can't you tell left from right?" Steven frowned and asked.
"What's wrong?"
"When you put on the diamond ring the first time, didn't you say married women should wear it on the right hand? Why are you giving me your left hand?"
Nora's face instantly turned red!
She was mainly just too shy, her mind went blank, unable to think at all, which was why she held out the wrong hand...
Her face flushed crimson as she held out her right hand.
So Steven remembered everything.
Every word she had said to him, he kept in his heart.
Steven gently put it on her.
The cold ring appeared on her ring finger, and Nora's heart raced.
Steven flicked her forehead, "What are you daydreaming about?"
"Nothing." She was moved, and glanced at Steven.
His eyes were so beautiful.
Nora suddenly noticed that she had a wedding ring, but Steven didn't.
A man's wedding ring should be bought by his wife.
Nora remembered she still owed Steven a gift. When Steven had helped her get the surveillance footage, he had said to let her think of a gift for him.
Nora blinked, her heartbeat becoming wild!
How about... giving Steven a wedding ring?
If he wore a wedding ring, other women would know he had a wife!
Nora had her own little thoughts, sweet ones. The more she thought about it, the happier she became, and her beautiful eyes sparkled with joy.
"What are you smiling about?" Steven looked down at her, his light gray pupils beautiful and captivating.
Nora met his gaze, her pulse quickening.
She was wearing a sexy nightgown, showing her smooth legs, sitting in front of Steven's bed - what man could resist?
Steven's gaze changed in a second, his breathing becoming ragged.
He hadn't touched her in many days.
As soon as he got close, his body heated up.
