Chapter 130 Teach Him a Lesson
"I see the Reed family members keep coming to the hospital to make a scene. It's not safe here. If they keep harassing Olivia like this, she'll have a mental breakdown sooner or later," Steven said.
Steven had a point, but Nora didn't respond right away. Her hands twisted nervously at the fabric of her clothes.
Steven noticed her concern. "I'm not saying this for your sake. It's mainly because Olivia has always been good to me, and I can't stand the way the Reed family treats her."
"Is his hospital expensive?"
Olivia's hospital stay was being paid for with Willie's card. If they switched hospitals, they might have to pay out of pocket.
Nora was worried about the cost. All she had left was the money Willie had transferred to her, and she needed to save it for her future business venture. The pressure was getting to her.
Steven looked at her and said, "You don't need to worry about the cost..."
"No way!" Nora interrupted him. She didn't want Steven calling her a "Gold Digger" again.
"I'll pay for it myself. I just want to know how much it costs. Or you could give me Alton's phone number? I'll call and ask him."
Considering the safety issue, Nora also thought it would be best for Olivia to transfer hospitals.
Willie probably wouldn't pay for medical expenses anymore. Rather than staying here and being harassed by them, it would be better to move to another hospital.
Steven felt a sharp pain in his chest.
She didn't want to use his money anymore.
Before, he'd always worried she was only after his money, but now that she wasn't using it, he felt even more uncomfortable.
"It's okay. I'm the one suggesting Olivia transfer hospitals, so I'll pay for it."
"No need." Before he could finish, Nora refused. "She's my sister; she has nothing to do with you. I'll pay for it myself."
After saying that, she added, "Actually, forget it. I don't want to trouble you guys too much. I'll find a hospital myself tomorrow."
Alton was Steven's friend, and she didn't want to owe too many favors that she couldn't repay later.
"You should go back. I'm staying to take care of Olivia tonight." As she spoke, she was about to push the door open.
Steven suddenly grabbed her hand.
Nora froze slightly, then was pulled by a force into his embrace, held tightly.
Nora's heart jumped, and she tried to leave his arms.
Steven wouldn't let her, holding her even tighter.
Nora still struggled. She was angry. What right did he have to treat her like that? And not coming home for days, leaving her alone at home—what was that supposed to mean?
Was he giving her the silent treatment?
Her heart was full of anger, and she pushed him away forcefully.
In the darkness, tears streaked down her face.
She was crying. Not wanting to run back to Olivia's hospital room, she ran along the corridor to a small balcony in the hospital, standing there quietly wiping away tears.
She didn't want anyone to see her tears.
But this was a public place with nowhere to hide.
She could only stand on the balcony crying, her back to everyone.
She felt so wronged.
She had never been treated like this before.
When he didn't come, she could still hold it in, but as soon as he showed up, all the grievances in her heart came pouring out.
Steven followed her.
He hugged her from behind, turned her head around, and pressed it against his chest. "Stop crying."
"I don't want you holding me." Nora pushed him away, her voice choked with tears.
Steven held her tighter, his voice low. "Stop making a fuss."
"I'm not making a fuss." She was huffing with anger. She felt so wronged, sad, hurt, bitter...
But Steven felt much better.
The fact that she was willing to vent her emotions proved she cared and was upset.
If she showed no emotion at all, that would be a sign she didn't care.
Steven held her in his arms, feeling a sense of satisfaction at having recovered something lost. He realized he was probably becoming addicted to this feeling.
With this thought, he held her even tighter.
"Let me go!"
Nora wasn't going to let him take advantage of her. After giving her the silent treatment for days, he just came up and hugged her like this—anyone would be angry.
"Stop making a fuss." He didn't listen at all, holding her dominantly and threatening softly in her ear, "If you keep this up, I'll spank you."
Nora said angrily, "Didn't you call me a 'Gold Digger'? Then why are you looking for me?"
"I was wrong, okay?"
Steven's voice was soft. He pried open her hand and pressed a card into it. "This time buy two gold bracelets, okay?"
"I don't want it!" She refused, her voice tearful and full of grievance. "Last time you told me to go buy something, and when I actually did, you called me a 'Gold Digger.' I'll never use your card again."
Steven froze. "The card you used that night—you went to buy gold?"
Nora pressed her lips together and said nothing.
Steven pinched her waist. "Speak up. If it was a misunderstanding, why didn't you explain?"
Nora felt uncomfortable from his pinching. Fine, since it was a misunderstanding, she'd make it clear.
She lifted her small face and said, "That's right, I only went because you told me to."
Steven's heart felt like it had been hit hard.
So it was from that time when he made the promise.
He had misunderstood her.
Steven's hands cupped her face, gently lifting her head.
Nora's nose was red. She refused to look at him, feeling too embarrassed to cry in front of him. She raised her hand to push his hands away.
But how could she be a match for him?
He still lifted her head.
He looked at her red nose and pitiful eyes, and suddenly felt so sorry for her. "I'm sorry."
He apologized softly.
Nora was slightly stunned. Steven actually apologized?
She suddenly didn't know what to say.
The anger in her heart began to fade.
"Let me go." He kept holding her face and looking at her, making her uncomfortable. She lowered her lashes, looking annoyed.
But in Steven's eyes, she looked more shy than anything.
Steven insisted on pressing the card into her hand. "Take it, okay?"
"I really don't want it!" She pushed it back to him, not daring to take it anymore. "I won't use your card anymore."
She didn't want to be misunderstood again.
"I'll be unhappy if you don't take it." He threatened her. Steven rarely coaxed girls and didn't really know how.
Usually, when he threatened people, they got scared. Steven thought it would work on Nora, too.
She was soft and sweet-tempered, easy to bully.
Who knew this time she huffed, "Then go ahead and be unhappy."
She'd been upset for days, too.
Who had comforted her?
Steven had given her the silent treatment for days!
Steven fell silent.
"Are you taking it or not?" His face turned cold as he pinched the soft flesh at her waist.
Nora cried out, both angry and frustrated. "Even if I take it, I won't use it! Stop giving it to me, I really don't want it."
"You have to take it whether you want it or not." He pulled her closer. "You're my wife. If you don't spend my money, who will?"
Nora scoffed. "Who would believe that? You say you'll let me use it, but as soon as I do, you call me a 'Gold Digger'!"
Steven fell silent.
Steven said somewhat helplessly, "Can you stop bringing that up?"
"I'm stating facts," Nora said irritably. "I spent over seven thousand dollars, and you called me a 'Gold Digger.' Not only did you insult me, but you also..."
She couldn't continue, her face flushing red.
Steven glanced at her. "Also what?"
She pouted. "I'll say it then. Not only did you insult me, you also pressured me into having sex with you. You bullied me."
"You're my wife. What's wrong with me bullying you a little?" Steven pulled her tighter, his light gray eyes looking at her. "Besides, when I have sex with you, you quite like it."
Nora protested, "What makes you think I like it?"
"How do you not like it? You never refuse..." Steven said matter-of-factly.
"That's because... because..." Nora was too embarrassed to continue. It was because she saw him as her husband that she didn't refuse.
"Because what?" He looked at her and asked.
Nora couldn't say it.
After all this back and forth, most of the anger in her heart had dissipated, and she didn't know what else to say.
But Steven's anger hadn't dissipated yet. He stared at her face and said, "You went on a date with a strange man. If I didn't teach you a lesson, would I still be a man? You shouldn't be so flirtatious."
Nora froze slightly, then pounded his chest in anger. "You're wrongly accusing me again!"
She had almost stopped being angry.
But with that one sentence, the fire in her heart flared up again. She shouted without thinking, "If you think I'm so flirtatious, going around seducing men, then just divorce me!"
He grabbed both her flailing hands.
Now Nora was completely pressed against him, unable to move at all.
He moved close to her face, his gaze sharp. "Who said I want to divorce you? I'm not divorcing you."
His suddenly approaching handsome face made Nora hold her breath.
She stared at him, holding her breath.
Then she heard Steven say, "Not only am I not divorcing you, I'm going to have sex with you every day until you're too tired to get out of bed."
Nora's face instantly turned completely red.
Making such cheeky remarks right after a fight!
He had no shame!
She instinctively looked around, and seeing no one there, lowered her voice. "Keep your voice down!"
Steven was aroused by her blushing face, biting her earlobe. "Did you hear me?"
She was too embarrassed to answer.
Steven blocked her lips, holding her in his arms, kissing her until she could barely breathe.
Nora was panting when he asked again, "Did you hear me?"
"You're shameless!" Nora was very shy.
Steven was satisfied after teasing her until her face was red, and smiled slightly. "How about I get a nurse for Olivia, and you come home with me tonight?"
His gaze was somehow suggestive.
Nora didn't dare look, lowering her eyes. "No, I'm staying here with Olivia tonight!"
He'd ignored her for so many days—she needed to teach him a lesson, too.
How could she let him think she'd be fine after just a little coaxing?
If she did that, he'd treat her the same way next time.
She wasn't the kind of woman who came when called and left when dismissed!
"If you stay here with Olivia, what about me?" Steven was unwilling. They'd just made up, and he wanted to be with her. "Olivia's health is fine now. We can get a nurse to watch her, it'll be okay."
"I just don't want to." Nora firmly refused, her little red face proud. "You can sleep alone tonight."
Let him taste what it's like to sleep alone in an empty room!
"Fine." Considering that Olivia still needed her comfort, Steven gave up.
A nurse could only take care of Olivia physically, but couldn't provide emotional comfort. It would indeed be better with Nora here.
