Chapter 64 Is Nora the Object of Andrew's Affection
Steven was cold as ice.
Nora pressed her lips together, feeling a bit upset.
Even if they were getting divorced, she didn't want things to turn out like this. The cold war was really wearing her down.
She felt a heaviness in her chest and suddenly didn't feel like cooking anymore.
Her phone rang nearby. It was a call from that "Mr. Hayes."
"Hello," Nora answered the phone. She only knew to call him Mr. Hayes, not his full name.
"Ms. Adams, I looked at the price list you sent over. Mr. Wood said there are some issues with a few prices. Can we meet tonight to discuss?" Andrew asked her while playing with a lighter on the other end.
Nora nodded, "Sure."
"Why don't you come find me?" Andrew suggested.
Nora checked her account balance, making sure she could afford to treat Andrew to dinner, then replied, "Okay, send me your location, and I'll come to you."
"Alright." Andrew sent over his location.
Steven sat in the master bedroom for a while. There were no cooking sounds from outside.
He walked out with a cold face, carrying his water glass.
Actually, he hadn't finished eating. If she invited him one more time, he would reluctantly accept.
Steven strode on his long legs into the living room, only to see that the kitchen light was already off, with the groceries left unprocessed on the counter.
Where did she go?
Steven frowned slightly, then heard movement from Nora's room.
He gently pushed the door open.
Nora was wearing a soft beige knit dress with chiffon sleeves, looking elegant and charming overall.
At that moment, she stood in front of the full-length mirror, holding a scarf and gently draping it around her neck.
This scarf was one of the matching couple's scarves she and Steven each had.
She figured that meeting a client required dressing more dignified and gentle. For business talks, she couldn't look childish or too frivolous.
"Going out?" Steven's voice suddenly came from behind her.
Nora turned her head.
Steven's gaze fixed on her scarf, his expression very displeased.
Nora turned back to continue adjusting her scarf. "Yes, going to meet a client."
"You have clients?" Steven knew she did e-commerce, with clients all abroad. Why would she need to meet them in person?
But to Nora's ears, this sounded like he was looking down on her.
Nora frowned slightly. "Having clients is normal. Who doesn't have clients when doing business?"
She adjusted her scarf and looked at herself in the mirror a few times.
Pretty mature-looking, should be fine.
Steven watched her adjust the scarf with a dark expression, finding it more and more irritating.
Dressed up so prettily, definitely not going to meet a female client!
He darkened his face and said, "You're not cooking anymore?"
"Not anymore, no time." With that, she grabbed her bag and left.
Steven's face looked even worse.
Wearing the clothes he bought her to go meet another man?
Steven was so bothered that he couldn't even drink his water. He called James on his phone. "How's the investigation going?"
Steven had asked James to look into Nora and Andrew's relationship.
James replied, "Got a few words out of Andrew's secretary today. Said Andrew recently took a liking to some woman and is pretending to be an assistant to hit on her."
Assistant?
Client?
The two words spun around in Steven's mind.
His face turned cold, and he said in a low voice, "Go check where Nora is right now."
That foolish woman, had she become Andrew's target?
Nora walked into the restaurant Andrew had asked her to come to, holding her documents.
The restaurant had a beautiful atmosphere.
She had just reached the private room door when she heard a server's scream from inside, "Sir... what's wrong?!"
Andrew had been looking at his phone. Somehow, after taking a sip of wine, he suddenly couldn't breathe and collapsed onto the table.
The server was scared stiff, not daring to touch him, just kept shouting, "Sir! Sir..."
Red rashes crawled all over Andrew's neck.
"You..." He gasped for air, wanting to speak but unable to get the words out.
The server was so anxious that she was sweating profusely, about to go out and call for help.
Then Nora pushed open the door.
The server looked over. A beautiful woman stood at the private room entrance, wearing a soft chiffon knit dress.
She had already seen Andrew's condition through the glass door of the private room.
Walking to the table in a few steps, she checked Andrew's condition. "This is an allergic reaction."
"Allergic reaction?" The server looked panicked. "I'll go get someone."
He shouted and ran out.
Nora ignored him and pulled out an acupuncture kit from her bag. She usually carried this kit when going out for self-defense.
She directly pulled off Andrew's shirt.
In his dazed state, Andrew felt someone undressing him. He weakly raised an arm, trying to push her away, breathing heavily as if using all his strength, "Don't... touch me..."
"You're having an allergic reaction." Nora glanced at him.
He was already entering a state of shock, dizzy and disoriented, as if about to lose consciousness, his brain lacking oxygen.
After removing his shirt, Nora inserted silver needles into several points on his body and hands.
After finishing the treatment, the server returned with people—several restaurant managers and Duke, all looking rushed.
The group rushed in to see Nora sitting in a chair.
Duke looked at Andrew. Andrew's complexion was better than before.
"What are you doing?" Duke shouted in very poor English.
Nora turned her head, saw it was Duke, and stood up to explain, "Mr. Hayes had an allergic reaction that caused shock. I just treated him, and his breathing is normal now."
Duke's eyes were filled with suspicion. He was Andrew's special assistant.
Andrew had recently had a document rejected by Steven and was now looking to settle scores with Steven's wife.
But then he had this sudden allergic reaction...
Now she had saved Andrew, and Duke didn't know whether he should confront her or not.
"Are you a doctor?" Duke asked her, suppressing his anger. He didn't know whether to pursue this now or wait until Andrew woke up!
"No." Nora honestly shook her head.
Duke's expression changed dramatically. "If you're not a doctor, how could you treat him without permission?"
What if something happened to Andrew? Who would be responsible?
"I saw he was going into shock. If I didn't treat him in time, there would have been problems." If he hadn't been about to go into shock, Nora wouldn't have intervened.
Duke's face looked extremely unpleasant.
Just then, the ambulance arrived, and two male paramedics came in carrying a stretcher.
Duke quickly led them to Andrew. The two male paramedics examined Andrew.
The red rashes on his neck looked frightening, but his handsome face was calm, his breathing even—he seemed fine now.
The male paramedic took his blood pressure and said to Duke, "This gentleman is fine now."
Duke was somewhat surprised.
So Nora's acupuncture actually worked?
