Chapter 34 Nora's Revenge on Aurora Tech
That night, Steven didn't come back.
Nora couldn't sleep for half the night. The next day, she started sneezing.
Yesterday when she went to Harman Tower, she got caught in the heavy rain and stayed there in wet clothes for over two hours.
Dragging her heavy body, she got up to make breakfast for Olivia, but Olivia had gotten up before her and was already cooking oatmeal.
"Nora, why do you look so awful?" Olivia asked her.
A bitter smile appeared on Nora's lips. "I think I caught a cold. Got soaked in the rain yesterday, and now my head feels all foggy."
"Do you need to take the day off and rest at home?"
"No need, it's just a little cold." Nora smiled. With her current mood, she'd rather go to work anyway.
Besides, she wasn't that delicate - a little cold wouldn't stop her from working.
Olivia said, "Nora, drink plenty of water when you have a cold. Oh, and last night, Willie and I made up. He said he's coming to pick me up and take me home."
"What?" Nora was surprised. "How did you make up?"
They were fighting so badly yesterday.
Olivia smiled bitterly. "I used some tactics. Sometimes women need to give in a little. Willie really falls for that."
Last night, she had thought it through. Now that Willie was getting richer and richer, Olivia didn't plan to divorce him. She had struggled through poverty with him - if she divorced him now that he was successful, wouldn't she and the baby in her belly be the ones losing out?
So for the sake of the child, she needed to pull herself together and fight against those jerks from the Reed family!
Nora understood Olivia.
It was a very practical issue. Those people from the Reed family were stirring up trouble, basically just trying to get rid of Olivia so they could get their hands on Willie's money.
Most people become unrecognizable when it comes to money.
After Nora got to the company, she remembered that batch of 1210s seemed to be with Steven.
She logged onto Facebook and typed: [Mr. York, I think those capacitors are with you?]
She used to call him Steven, but now she called him Mr. York.
Steven frowned slightly and replied: [They're in the car at Riverside Apartment. Want me to bring them over?]
Nora sneezed: [Yes, thank you.]
So distant and formal?
Steven's expression turned cold.
Just then, James came in to report, "Mr. York, Cindy from Aurora Tech is here, waiting in the reception room."
Steven responded coolly and continued reading documents.
During lunch break, James came in to ask, "Mr. York, that Cindy had the secretary come ask when you'll see her?"
"Let her wait. Don't let her leave before 10 PM." Steven was playing golf in his office. People in high positions needed proper exercise to stay fit.
Cindy liked making people wait so much, right?
He'd let her wait to her heart's content.
Today, tomorrow, the day after - make her come wait at the company every day.
Hearing this, James understood immediately. Steven was going to teach Cindy a lesson.
Making someone come to the company and keeping them there for over ten hours, no food, no water, and that Cindy wouldn't dare offend Steven or leave on her own.
Nora still received many calls inquiring about the 1210s. Nora quoted 160 dollars for all of them.
In the afternoon, she got a call from Aurora Tech. "Hello, is this Ms. Adams? About the 1210s yesterday, you have 860 reels in stock, right?"
Nora's ears perked up.
After yesterday's mess, Aurora Tech was still calling, which proved that 1210s couldn't be found anywhere else in the market.
They needed this batch!
"Yes, I have 860 reels." Nora rubbed her nose as she answered. Her nose kept running, and she wiped it with a tissue.
Come to think of it, she had Aurora Tech to thank for this cold.
The person from Aurora Tech said, "160 dollars per reel, cash payment, right? That works. Ms. Adams, bring them over to us. Our finance department is working today and can settle the cash for you."
Nora smiled slightly. "Sorry, 160 dollars was yesterday's price. Today it's 180 dollars per reel."
Nora was doing this on purpose. She was still quoting 160 dollars to others, but 180 dollars to Aurora Tech.
Take it or leave it!
So many people were inquiring anyway. She firmly believed the goods would sell!
The person from Aurora Tech took a deep breath. "Ms. Adams, didn't we agree on 160 dollars yesterday?"
Nora smiled, twirling a pen in her hand. "Yesterday was 160 dollars, but when I delivered them to your company, you didn't want them. I took them back, the deal fell through, and today the price went up to 180 dollars. That's not my fault."
The Aurora Tech side calculated - 180 dollars per reel would cost them quite a bit more. Their company wasn't a charity. The price was going up every day - was she trying to rob them?
That employee went to Vivian's office to find her.
Vivian asked her, "What price did we accept for our order?"
Employee: "190 dollars."
"Can't find 1210s anywhere in the market?" Vivian asked while drinking her coffee.
"Can't find them. We've asked everywhere. All the stock has been hoarded. This batch she has might be the last large inventory in the market."
Vivian's expression turned cold. "More trouble than they're worth!"
She made a call to Terry at Apex Technologies Corporation.
Terry was the general manager, one level above Bianca.
When Terry got Vivian's call, he learned that Nora had quoted 180 dollars to Aurora Tech.
180 dollars!
Just a few days ago, their company had sold 1210s for only 80 dollars!
Terry was jealous. Nora had bet on the right product this time - she was definitely going to make a killing!
Vivian said, "Mr. Reed, yesterday the quote was 160 dollars, the deal was practically done. How did it become 180 dollars today? Could you please talk to Ms. Adams about this?"
Terry didn't dare offend Aurora Tech and agreed with a smile. "Sure, Ms. Bennett, just a moment."
He called Nora into his office.
Nora pushed the door open. "Mr. Reed, you wanted to see me?"
"Have a seat." Terry had her sit in a chair. "Ms. Bennett from Aurora Tech just called and said you agreed with them yesterday on 160 dollars per reel for the 1210s. Why did you go back on your word today? Ms. Bennett feels like you played her, and now she's quite unhappy."
"How did I play her? Market prices change every day. Yesterday I offered 160 dollars, but she didn't want it. Today it's 180 dollars. If she wants it, buy it. If not, forget it."
Terry sighed. "Nora, you can't be so selfish. We have a long-term partnership with Aurora Tech. If you do this, it'll create tension between our two companies."
