Chapter 215 I Miss You Very Much

Chapter 215 I Miss You Very Much

Steven's body stiffened slightly. He turned to look at her, his eyes showing deep and complicated emotions.

Nora didn't think much of it. "Did you take your medicine today?"

Steven shook his head. "No."

Nora was a bit annoyed. "I already told you that you need to take medicine whenever you're sick. Why won't you listen?"

"I'll be fine in a few days."

"That's nonsense." Nora was quite unhappy, but still got up to help him into the master bedroom. "If you're not feeling well, just stay in your room and rest. You'll get better faster if you rest properly. Stop walking around the house."

Although Nora was complaining, Steven found it pleasant to hear.

This kind of caring complaint was something he could only hear from Nora.

The two entered the master bedroom. Steven lay on the bed and couldn't help asking her, "You didn't throw away my stuff?"

He had only discovered this today—all his things were still there, as if he had never left.

She was silent for a moment, then said, "Why would I throw them away? You might need them again someday."

She thought those things looked pretty expensive, and maybe one day Steven would remember and find them useful.

Steven said nothing.

Nora waited a while, and when she didn't hear his voice, she looked up, only to be pulled into his embrace.

Nora was surprised but didn't push him away. She let him hold her quietly, her expression carrying a touch of sadness.

She missed his embrace so much.

It was so warm.

Steven's heart ached faintly, too.

That day when he saw her with Andrew, Steven nearly went crazy. He couldn't control his emotions at that moment and almost lost it, and crashed into Andrew.

Love can turn a person into a madman.

Steven didn't want to become that kind of hateful person, so he decided to end this marriage.

He hated the feeling of being controlled by love and hate.

So he told himself not to look back.

But every night he tossed and turned, unable to sleep. Without her at night, he was too restless to sleep every night, and could only force himself to work overtime to numb his nerves.

A thought often crossed his mind—would Nora still think of him after the divorce?

He looked at his phone more frequently than before, hoping Nora would come looking for him like she used to, but she never came...

"Steven, I'm going to cook. You rest for a bit, and you'll be able to eat soon." Nora pulled away from his embrace and turned to wipe away her tears.

She was starting to feel reluctant to let him go again.

Nora told herself not to be so pathetic.

She went to the kitchen to make dinner.

An hour later, she brought out a bowl of light and fragrant oatmeal porridge.

Nora quietly dissolved the stomach medicine into the porridge and stirred it carefully. This was exactly why she insisted on coming back to make dinner—to put the medicine in.

"Steven, dinner's ready." Nora went into the master bedroom to call him.

Steven was holding his phone, coughing while working.

Nora frowned, walked over, and took his phone away, a bit unhappy. "You're so sick, just rest. Stop working!"

Steven's heart stirred. He glanced at her. "Just a bit more work to hand over, almost done."

"The oatmeal porridge is ready. Come out and eat."

"Okay," Steven responded, put down his phone, and stood up. Nora came over worriedly to support him.

Steven's gaze fell on her.

Nora blushed a little. "I'm afraid you might not walk steady."

Steven smiled and didn't refuse.

At the dining table.

Steven sat in his usual spot, frowning as he glanced at her. "Why is my bowl so big?"

His was a soup bowl, while Nora's was a small bowl.

Nora felt a bit guilty. "I was afraid you wouldn't have enough, so I got you a big bowl."

Steven fell silent.

"Eat up." Nora handed him a spoon.

Steven smelled the food's aroma and said nothing more, slowly taking a bite. "Tastes pretty good."

He didn't taste the medicine in it at all.

Nora pressed her lips together and secretly smiled.

"What are you laughing at?" Steven noticed her laughing with her head down.

Nora smiled gently. "Nothing, just thought of something funny."

"What's so funny?"

She glanced at him. He had only eaten a few bites of his oatmeal porridge. Nora didn't dare say, afraid he wouldn't eat it if she told him. "Nothing, it's not important."

"Thinking about another man?" Steven suddenly spoke, his eyes instantly becoming as dark as ink.

Nora was slightly stunned.

Why was it that now, they could never talk for more than two sentences before the atmosphere became tense?

Nora actually hated this. She wanted to talk properly with Steven, without always being at each other's throats.

She couldn't help reaching out, covering his cold, large hand. "No, Steven, I'm not thinking about another man."

Steven looked up at her, then at her small hand covering his large hand.

So soft, so warm.

"Have you been thinking about me lately?" His gaze fell on her face.

Whether it was Nora's imagination or not, she felt Steven's eyes were full of anticipation.

Did he hope she was thinking about him?

Of course, Nora thought about him every day and night, but she didn't quite dare say it out loud.

Steven thought he had put her in a difficult position. His eyes dimmed, and he wanted to withdraw his hand.

Nora's heart tightened. In that instant, she didn't know what she was thinking, but by the time she came to her senses, she had already grabbed Steven's hand.

Steven stared at her intently. "What are you doing?"

"I miss you a lot," Nora said seriously.

These words seemed to ripple into Steven's heart, making him freeze for a moment.

In this instant, he suddenly felt that being sick was worth it. If he hadn't gotten sick, Nora wouldn't be taking care of him.

His large hand turned over, wrapping around her small hand. "Me too."

Nora was dazed, emotions stirring in her heart.

She had always thought that Steven was so determined about wanting to be with Vivian, and should be very happy after leaving, but now...

"You're not together with Vivian?" Nora gathered her courage to look at him.

At the same time, she felt a bit nervous, afraid that he really was with her. If Steven and Vivian were together, then what?

She realized she couldn't bear this answer. She lowered her eyes slightly, her nose tingling.

Steven frowned, about to speak, when his stomach cramped with pain again.

"Are you okay?" Nora saw him frowning and thought he must be very uncomfortable, so she quickly urged him to eat the oatmeal porridge.

The medicine was all in the oatmeal porridge. He'd be fine once he ate it.

Steven eventually ate most of the bowl.

When Nora was putting the dishes in the dishwasher, that question floated into her mind again.

'Steven, are you together with Vivian or not?'

She admitted she cared a lot about this answer.

But if Steven really was together with Vivian, what could she do?

She still loved him just the same.

Her heart felt heavy.

Forget it, Steven was sick right now, so she shouldn't overthink things. His illness was her fault, so she should just take good care of him first. She could deal with everything else later.

Steven didn't return to the master bedroom.

He went to the guest bedroom and sat on Nora's bed. The sheets were still blue, simple, and cozy.

Steven realized he still liked living with Nora.

Every day when leaving, Nora would see him to the door. When coming home, Nora would be waiting for him at home. Every day together.

If they hadn't separated, he wouldn't have understood his own heart—that he was so attached to this plain and warm life.

When he returned to the country three years ago, he never imagined that one day he would come to like this kind of ordinary life, having a wife, living together in harmony.

But now, revenge no longer seemed so important, because revenge was just about wanting to do something for his mother. But before this, he had never thought about what he truly wanted.

Maybe before, what he wanted was supreme power, to be able to decide anyone's life or death.

But what was the point of controlling others' lives and deaths?

He would rather come home early every day and tease his lovely Nora.

He had become somewhat different from before.

Because of the separation, he understood what it meant to be reluctant to let go.

Nora walked over and saw him standing in the guest bedroom. "Why are you here?"

"Just came to take a look," Steven answered.

"Is your stomach better?"

"Seems much better, not as painful as before."

See, taking medicine does help. Nora planned to continue putting medicine in his food tomorrow.

"Then rest. It's almost ten o'clock, time to sleep." Nora had been busy all day and had sweated a lot. She wanted to take a shower.

"Let's shower together."

This sentence startled Nora. "Together?"

"I mean, you shower in the living room bathroom, I'll shower in the master bedroom bathroom. Showering at the same time will be faster."

'Oh, I see.'

Nora had been scared.

She patted her chest and went to get her pajamas. "Okay, go ahead and shower, but don't take too long. Your fever just broke, so just rinse off quickly."

"Okay." Steven was still sick and looked tired.

Nora was worried he might faint while showering.

Ten minutes later, Nora finished her shower and remembered that the sheets in Steven's room were from a few days ago and hadn't been changed.

She entered the master bedroom to change the sheets for him.

Steven came out of the bathroom wearing a bathrobe and saw Nora changing his bedding.

Looking at that graceful figure, tenderness spread layer by layer in Steven's eyes.

"What are you doing?" Steven stood by the bed and asked her.

"Changing your sheets. You haven't been back for a few days. The old sheets got dusty and dirty, so I'm putting on a clean set for you." Nora was busy.

Steven walked over to help her.

Nora said, "No need, you're sick. Just rest on the side, I'll do it!"

Like a warrior woman, she took off her shoes and stepped onto Steven's bed, about to pull up the comforter and shake it down to spread the duvet inside the cover.

Steven found it a bit amusing. Nora seemed delicate yet was quite capable, doing these tasks very efficiently.

Nora grabbed the comforter to shake it, but didn't stand steady and stepped on the edge of the bed, falling off.

Steven's expression changed, and he reached out to catch Nora as she fell.

Nora was caught in his arms, looking at his pale and handsome face, unable to come back to her senses for a long time.

"Are you okay? Why are you in a daze?" Steven thought she must have been scared; her pupils were dilated.

Nora, being stared at by him, felt her heart beat a bit faster. "I'm fine."

"I told you I'd help, but you insisted on being stubborn." Steven frowned at Nora in his arms, not letting her go.

"I just saw you were pretty sick and wanted to let you rest a bit."

"How much strength does it take to shake a comforter? Besides, my fever's already gone, I'm not that uncomfortable."

"Okay." She was silent in his arms for a while. "Let me go."

Steven put her down.
