CHAPTER 67

"He ended up killing one of the hospital staff,when they couldn't give him an answer as to why you haven't woken up,not to mention the fact that they haven't found Dante yet is adding more pressure on him."

Brie couldn't believe what she is hearing....is this her Giovanni that they are talking about."I....uhm...Wh--....."

"Paula told him to take time out,to leave and get his head together that was five days ago.He left without telling anyone....not even Marco.Tino is the one running the businesses until whenever he comes back."

She is heart broken and sad that Giovanni isn't here,she would have loved to see his face,hear his voice,feel his arms around her and the softness of his lips on her own,but clearly her health drove him into a state of unfitness and he had to leave to clear his head.

"Where's the twins?"She asked instead.

"Oh the babies are fine,looks like we'll both be walking around with big bellies."Ari chuckled softly.

"Oh no I-...."Brie stopped mid sentence when Ari's words registered. "Babies?What are you talking about?I am referring to Alessio and Ava."

"You pregnant.The doctor confirmed yesterday morning after doing another round of tests.You almost two weeks along. Congratulations!"Her sister beamed happily.

The door to the room opened before she could say something and Paula entered with a fresh set of flowers."Oh good you awake.I was beginning to worry.How are you feeling my dear."

"I'm okay."Brie told her."Where's Ava and Alessio?"

"At home.Don't worry they well taken care of,focus on healing and getting well.The family needs their Donna back."Donna.....there's that word again,it doesn't sit well with her that they calling her that.She is no near ready to run this Mafia organizations not at all.

"Paula I-...I'm not ready to run this family or this business.I don't think I'm ready for this lifestyle."She laid her head back against the pillows."This life isn't for me...I-...I-"She stopped and closed her eyes.Oh God where is Giovanni....tears burned her eyes and although it's her right to cry... she doesn't want to...right now she needs to be strong,and being weak isn't going to get her anywhere.

"You don't have a choice my dear."Paula told her."This life chose you and no matter what happens you are Giovanni's wife and the Donna of this family.With him not being here,it's your right to handle everything and run the businesses so that nothing goes wrong."Paula came to stand next to her."I already spoke to Tino once you all healed up you'll run all the legal businesses while he takes care of all the illegal ones."Brie opened her mouth to talk but Paula spoke over her."There is no way of denying,we don't know where Giovanni is and we cannot afford for this family to be weakened while he is away.So get rest and heal up,I'll teach you and so will Tino."

Her headache is increasing times five after hearing Paula's words. She has to run the businesses,she has no clue what it means to hold and run a CEO position.She is a god damn receptionist,or rather she was.Giving a deep sigh she opened her eyes and gazed at Paula and her sister,how she wished she can leave and go far like her sister will do soon.But it's only wishful thinking on her part.

"We need to find Giovanni."Brie told them."It's not safe for me out in the open with Dante still roaming around lord knows where. And I refuse to live my life in fear over him,I want an update on his whereabouts and whatever information they've found out so far.Send Rocco to me immediately."

A smile spread across her sister's face,and Brie won't even ask why it's there.If she is the Donna then she has to take full advantage of her position and the new found power she has, she'll try her best not to fail Giovanni in his absence.

Brie slipped her feet into her five inch stiletto heels,she neatly tied her hair in tight bun,her make up followed next.Today she's wearing a white pencil skirt with a pink blouse and matching white suit jacket.She has been officially running Valetti Corporations for five weeks now and although she has been wary and unsure she is proud of how she has handled everything.

Giovanni is still not back and the information Rocco has given her was accurate but every time someone gets sent out to his location they come up empty,it's frustrating her,it's as if he doesn't want to be found,like he wants to stay hidden and away and if that's the case then why is he doing it.What reason could he have for doing what he's doing.

A knock on the door brought back her attention."Who is it?"She asked softly.

"Donna..."It's Tino.She walked over to the door and opened it. "Good morning."

"Good morning Tino."She greeted back."How can I help you."

"Today is the board meeting,and some of the members have gotten wind of Giovanni's disappearance,right now they'll take advantage and want to undermine you because you a woman, they'll try to challenge you and argue they won't be told by a woman.But I want to let you know that I'm here for you,and I'll do anything you tell me to."

Brie knows what he means by those words and although she isn't a person of violence she has learnt in this world there is no such a thing as leniency,or pity or remorse....so whatever happens or when the time comes she'll have to do the hardest thing ever....and that's give an order to get someone killed.

She nodded her head."Thank you Tino.And I appreciate your support and for being here and for guiding me through everything. I won't forget to mention this to Giovanni.And as for the meeting today...."She took a deep breath,before replying."If anyone over steps then you do what you need to do.Is that clear?"

"Si Donna."Bowing his head he turned and walked out.

She has a long day ahead,and this board meeting will make her day feel even longer,but she has to get going and hear what new drama and complaints there are.Taking her purse and bag from her dressing table she heads out the bedroom and went downstairs.

She won't be able to eat breakfast today, if she does then she'll be late and she doesn't need to give the board another reason as to why she's unfit to run a multi-billionaire company."Good morning everyone she greeted."

"Mom..."The kids greeted,ever since they heard about their dad they've been more silent than usual, especially her son Alessio.

"How are you Brielle?"Paula asked.

"I'm okay Paula thank you for asking."She answered."Ari,Marco. Where is Rocco and Josh?"

"Rocco is on security and Josh went shopping."Ari replied on her question."Marcelo just left after drinking coffee."

The house is quiet than usual and everyone stays out of anyone's way....it's like a dead man's house.She kissed each of the twins, she hasn't told them about the pregnancy,she herself is still coming to terms with it too.Pregnant....she has taken her birth control pills on time not missing one day,yet somehow she fell pregnant.

"I'm on my way."She said."I can't stay for breakfast...there's a board meeting now at eight."

"See you later dear."Paula said.

"And don't work too hard."Ari added.

Smiling she nodded and left,she is driving Giovanni's gray SUV Porsche...or more like a driver has been assigned to her by Rocco. He has made sure she is protected and have the best security protecting her, especially now that she's pregnant again.

Giovanni....

Brielle might not even want him after this....but he doesn't care she is his....and his only.His one mistake got him into this position that he is in now...broken,destroyed and weakened.Him that is always on guard that is always careful got himself in this fucking position all because he played the part of a good Samaritan.

So here is how it went down.....

After his micetta got admitted into hospital and the doctor's couldn't give him accurate results on how to help his micetta get out of the coma she'd been in...he had lost his mind and killed one of the hospital staff out of anger.After he took time out and dedicated his time in finding the bastard who is responsible for his micetta's condition....Dante.....

When he got a location on his supposite brother,he went after him alone not telling anyone of his findings.He wanted to avenge his micetta and make Dante pay for everything he has done....little did he know his informant that he trusted will betray him at the last moment all because they had his pregnant wife hostage.

He fought his way out....but in the end his arrogant bastard of a brother had more men power than he anticipated.They caught him at the warehouse where he met his informant and since then he's been held hostage,no water,no food...no nothing.
