Chapter 94: Alistair
Chapter 94: Alistair
Mirage’s P.O.V
If fear…had a face, then no one would have ever imagined it to be like Alistair Corvenus. The man was unearthly beautiful.
As Akiko led me to the streets in front of the packhouse, I found a car waiting for me there. It was a large, black SUV that looked modern and expensive, not something I would have ever associated with Alistair, bust as we drew closer, the door to the back was opened and I finally saw his face.
Fear slammed into my gut with the force of an eighteen-wheeler. The revulsion was so high that I felt bile in my throat. But for some reason, even though my body revolted violently against the mere sight of him…my mind remained calm…almost numb. Like all the feelings and emotions had been drained out of me, or locked away at the very least.
His bright red eyes sparkled with excitement as soon as his eyes landed on my face and a sly smile stretched on his perfect pink lips.
Alistair was literally the poster boy for perfection. His face was set in all hard angles and rigid lines, as if he was a sculpture brought to life. His hair was a jade black that fell to his forehead in waves. Any woman who saw him for the first time would fall head over heels in love with him…that was until they got to know the sick, twisted mind inside of him.
Akiko stood next to the door and held it wider for me, so I could get in. I came to a stop right outside the door, my entire body protesting against getting inside the car. But despite all of that, I found my leg lifting of their own accord suddenly, as I help onto the sides of the car and put one foot inside, lifting my body up and ducking my head through the door…and before I knew it, I was sitting on the car seat inside and the door was being slammed shut.
Alistair’s smile widened as he saw me sitting quietly, like a good little girl following her master’s orders. My hands curled into fists on my lap but my face remained impassive, expressionless.
What the fuck was going on? Why was I suddenly following orders like a dog? Why did I get into the fucking car? And why couldn’t I sp…
Akiko got into the car through the driver’s side door and then she shut and locked all the doors before starting the car. And just like that, my mind calmed down to absolute stillness, to the point where I didn’t even know what happened next. My eyes drifted close of their own and then I drifted off into a state of stasis where my memory failed to catch up to me and I didn’t feel any sense of danger at all.
My eyes snapped open and I sprang up into a sitting positing.
I was inside a dimly lit room, lying on top of a bed with my clothes still intact. There wasn’t any other furniture inside the room other than just this bed and a small table to the side which had a jug of water and a glass next to it. Other than that, the room was all but empty.
Two doors were situated next to each other on the opposite wall to the bed and I was guessing that one of them was the bathroom and the second the exit to the room, which was obviously going to be locked.
Now that there was no one else in the room but me, panic hit me full force and I couldn’t help but tremble at the mere thought of being in the same house as Alistair.
Why hadn't I felt this panic before? I remember only briefly feeling an ounce of fear after entering the car with Alistair, but aside from that, I had been irrationally calm.
“Ak-kiko…” I whispered, bringing my knees to my chest and wrapping my arms around them tightly.
She must have been the reason why I had been so calm. I don’t know what kind of witch she was, but she seemed to have some kind of calming effect on people. I wasn’t well versed in the study of supernatural creatures but I was sure as hell that witches did not have that kind of effect on people…or other supernatural beings.
“Julian…” My thoughts shifted to the boy as the panic continued to rise.
How was he? Did the pack find the antidote? Was that even the antidote or was it another poison? Oh god! What if I walked right into a trap? There was no trusting Alistair from the start, was there?
When he had first gotten me from the house…he told me he’ll help me find my family…he had told me he’ll help me avenge my mother…and I had trusted him. I had trusted him to help me…and that was until I had found him with his fangs in my neck, draining me of my life’s blood.
But he hadn't stopped there. He had then proceeded to rape me and then left me in the dungeons to rot when I had fought back and scratched his face, drawing blood.
For four days, I had been left there, with no food and water, until I had been on the verge of death. And then he had returned once again. To feed me, take care of me…and then to repeat the cycle. This time, I didn’t even have to hurt him, I had been too weak for that. But he had liked the idea of having me accessible to him at all time, weak and unable to fight back.
If I wasn’t wrong…he was going to repeat the scenario once again. That’s why I was now locked in this room with no windows and no exit.
But just as I was thinking this, one of the doors to the room creaked open…and Akiko walked inside with a plate covered with a cloche.
“You should relax,” she told me, shutting the door behind her. “Master has sent you breakfast.”
“Breakfast?” I scoffed. “What exactly is your ‘Master’ playing at?”
“My Master doesn’t like to play.” Akiko’s voice was haunting…the kind that sent chills down my spine. “And this time, if you don’t obey him…I’m afraid you’ll have more to lose that you can even imagine.”
