Chapter 167: Battle for Survival Part 3
Lilac’s P.O.V

I nodded, my mind racing with the urgency of the situation. I moved towards Silver, hoping against hope that all of this worked.

“Silver…” I called out to her slowly, making her head snap in my direction. “Please…you need to stop all of this.”

But Silver’s face twisted in a sinister smirk. “It’s too late to stop any of this, Lilac. This ends with one of us.”

“It doesn’t have to be that way, Silvia.” I shook my head, pleading with her. From the corner of my eyes, I saw Del approaching her steadily from behind her, while I kept on engaging her in conversion.

“It does, Lilac.” Silver snapped at me, turning her body around so she was facing me completely. “You don’t understand-”

It was all Del needed, for her to turn away, so that our plan worked. Without wasting a second, he came up behind Silver and wrapped his arms around her body, holding her in place as he took her by surprise.

“Now! Lilac!” He commanded and I was instantly in front of Silver, holding her cheeks with my hands and forcing her to meet my eyes. And then, I tapped into the very core of my power, my legacy as a Silver Alpha Breeder…and unleashed my powers.

"Silver," I began, my voice steady as I looked into her eyes, seeking to convey the urgency of the situation.

"Destroy the wraiths."

Silver's gaze seemed to glaze over, her usually attentive demeanor shifting into a trance-like state. I felt a pang of worry surge through me, but Del's presence beside me acted as an anchor, a silent reassurance that I wasn't alone in this pivotal moment.

As Del released Silver from his grasp, an ancient chant spilled from her lips, resonating through the room with an otherworldly resonance. The air crackled with energy, and suddenly, screams pierced the air.

The wraiths, dark and shadowy, writhed in apparent agony, their forms dissipating into nothingness until only glowing orbs of light remained, hovering eerily in the air.

My breath caught in my throat, a mixture of relief and astonishment flooding my senses as I watched the orbs ascend skyward, vanishing into the night. The threat had been neutralized, but the echoes of those painful screams lingered, a haunting reminder of the peril we had narrowly escaped.

Del's expression softened, the weight of the moment lifting slightly from his shoulders. "We did it," he murmured, a faint smile touching his lips.

Relief washed over me in waves, and I managed a grateful nod, my voice barely a whisper. "Thank you, Del."

I looked up at the orbs as the ascended to the sky. “What are those?”

"Those figures... they're the souls trapped in this realm, transformed into wraiths by the agony of their deaths.” Del told me. “But now, they can finally find their way to heaven, free from all the torment of their worldly lives."

The air grew heavy with the weight of those words, the significance sinking in. These ethereal forms shimmered around us, and I could sense their relief, a sense of release after what seemed like an eternity. My gaze swept over the shimmering entities, each emanating a serene glow as they ascended, finding peace at last.

Even amidst this ethereal spectacle, my attention snapped back to the present as I saw Krimson, sprawled on the ground, almost devoid of vitality. Instinct propelled me forward, my concern for him overriding everything else.

"Krimson!" I called out, my voice edged with worry as I reached for him.

Before I could touch him, a sudden jolt rippled through me as Krimson pushed me aside with a strength I hadn’t expected. Shocked, I stumbled back, my eyes widening in disbelief. Then, in a horrifying blur, he intercepted the dagger aimed at me, driving it into his own chest.

"Krimson, no!" I cried out, a mixture of horror and despair flooding through me. The world seemed to slow, each moment elongating as I watched him, feeling utterly powerless.

I heard another cry of agony from beside me and my mind vaguely registered that it belonged to Silver, but I wasn’t focused on her at all. Instead, my eyes lingered on the dagger protruding out of Krimson’s chest, more towards his shoulder so I knew that it hadn't pierced his heart, but the tendrils of black smoke that clung to the dagger made me worried as to what it was.

I went to pull it out, my hands reaching for the dagger slowly, but Del rushed to my side immediately, his voice a mix of urgency and alarm.

"Lilac, stay back! We need to help him, but we can't approach until Silver's influence wanes."

Tears welled in my eyes, my heart wrenching at the sight before me. Krimson's face contorted in pain, yet a strange determination glimmered in his eyes even as he fell to his knees, gasping for breath. His sacrifice, a shield meant for me, left me reeling with guilt and shock.

"Krimson, why?" I whispered, my voice choked with emotion, unable to comprehend the magnitude of his sacrifice.

Del's hand on my shoulder offered a sense of solace, his presence a steadying force amid the chaos.

"We'll do everything we can, Lilac but right now, we have to focus on keeping you safe and finding a way to help Krimson."

Torn between emotions—grief, guilt, and an indescribable sense of loss—I struggled to process what had just transpired. Krimson lay there, his breaths growing shallow, the hilt of the dagger still protruding from his chest and in that harrowing moment, amidst the departing souls and the turmoil around us, all I could do was cling to the hope that somehow, there might be a way to save him.

The air crackled with tension as I stood there, as my gaze turned to Silver, writhing in agony. Her screams cut through the stillness of the room, a haunting symphony of pain that echoed in my ears. I felt helpless, my heart wrenching with every cry that escaped her lips. Silver's anguish was unbearable to witness.

"Lilac, this is your fault!" Her voice was strained, laced with anger and anguish.

Her accusation pierced through me like a blade but as I stood there, staring at her, I didn't feel an ounce of pity for her because she totally deserved what she was getting now. She had meant to kill me and if Krimson and Del hadn't come in that moment to save me, I would have probably died.

"You brought this upon me! You made me break my vow! My promised to never harm the man who saved my life!"
