Chapter 21
Damon was busy reading and signing the papers in front of him. He was frowning as he read a proposal from a company when the door to his office suddenly opened.
His angry eyes rose from the papers he was reading, and he was about to scold whoever had entered his office when he saw his friend Rex.
Rex lifted the brown envelope he was carrying as he made his way towards Damon. His grin was wide. "I got what you wanted," Rex said proudly as he threw the envelope at him, which he quickly caught.
Rex sat in the swivel chair in front of Damon's desk, his feet resting on the other chair. He was sitting comfortably, grinning from ear to ear.
"Wipe that fucking grin off your face," Damon said in irritation.
But Rex's grin only widened.
Damon gave Rex a sharp look before opening the brown envelope, which contained documents on Samantha's boyfriend, Alfred. He read carefully every detail and was annoyed when nothing caught his attention. It was just the basic profile of a regular guy, nothing more.
Losing his patience, he threw the documents in Rex's face, shocking his friend.
"What the hell?" Rex said in surprise when the documents hit him right in the face.
Rex's eyes were sharp as he stared at Damon, whose jaw was tense.
"What am I supposed to do with this? Who gives a fuck about his profile? I want to know if that asshole stinks—something I can use against him—not his full name, address, age, height, and fucking weight! Who gives a goddamn about that?" Damon said angrily, almost yelling.
"But why throw it at me? I'm not the PI! I didn't gather this information," Rex said in a pissed tone.
"Didn't you recommend that PI? I told you to get me someone reliable and efficient, so what the hell is that report?"
Rex pouted. "There's nothing we can do if the guy's done nothing we can use against him. You want me to make up stories?" Rex responded, still frowning.
Damon sighed exasperatedly. "If you didn't have any good news, then you should've just called me!" he said through gritted teeth.
"But I wanted to come visit. I'm bored. I need someone to annoy." Rex grinned and winked at him.
Damon had very little patience left for his friend. He was already trying so hard not to kick him.
"Get the fuck out of my office." His command was calm but firm.
Rex crossed his arms and pouted even more. "I don't want to," he stubbornly answered.
Damon's fists clenched, and he closed his eyes. "Get the fuck"—he took a deep breath—"OUT. OF. MY. OFFICE!" he shouted, which surprised Rex.
Disappointed, Rex stood up. "How can you just get rid of me like this? I thought we were friends. I just want to spend time with you! You were gone for so long! I missed you, yet this is the way you treat me?"
Damon's blood boiled at Rex's dramatics. "Rex Reynolds, if you value your life, you'll get the fuck out of my office before I forget you're my friend," he threatened.
"Okay!" Rex raised both hands, announcing his surrender. "Fine! I'm leaving!" He then turned around and walked towards the closed door.
Rex opened the door, but before he exited, he looked back at Damon and blew him a kiss that made his blood boil even more.
Damon picked up the vase on his desk and threw it at Rex, but Rex quickly closed the door so that the vase shattered against it instead.
Damn! That asshole knows just how to piss me off, he thought.
Damon spent a few more hours reading and signing papers before he decided to take a break. He removed his glasses and rested his back against his chair. He closed his eyes. He wanted to sleep a little, but he was not able to because Samantha's face entered his mind.
Suddenly, his heartbeat quickened.
It had been three days since he last saw her, and he was starting to miss her. It'd only been three days, and yet he couldn't wait to see her again. But he resisted the urge to rush back to the hospital for that woman.
He wanted to give her some time to be with her parents, especially now that her father was injured.
He knew Samantha was confused and struggling. He'd seen it in her eyes when he took her to the hospital, where he finally met her boyfriend, Alfred.
He'd told her that once they got off the island, he would stop bothering her. But he couldn't do that, especially now that he finally felt that, somehow, he had earned a tiny place in the woman's heart. He knew he couldn't just ignore it anymore because if Samantha didn't feel something for him, she wouldn't have let him claim her over and over again. And if she still insisted it was just sex, then he'd use that to his advantage, especially since he knew how strong of an effect he had on her.
One touch from him, and her body started to shiver. Just a kiss was enough to weaken her knees.
He could still remember how soft her lips and body were. The way she tasted. He remembered how her breath quickened every time he ran his lips over her skin. How she moaned and screamed every time he ate her out. How tightly she held onto him every time he claimed her.
Samantha was like a drug to him. And he was already addicted to her.
When he first saw her, he immediately felt a strange attraction to her. She was such a beauty. Her face was angelic, very different from her attitude toward him. He'd been quite disappointed when she'd said she was already taken. But knowing that she was taken hadn't stopped him. It'd just made him more excited.
"You have a boyfriend?" Damon asked the woman in front of him disappointedly.
She finished her glass of tequila, then turned to face him.
The woman's hard eyes stared at him intently. "Yes. So stay away from me," she answered coldly before getting the bartender's attention and asking for another tequila.
He was quite disappointed by what he'd heard. The woman beside him was a beauty, with an angelic face and a body like an hourglass, but she happened to be in a relationship already!
The woman looked at him again, one eyebrow raised. "Aren't you leaving? I already told you I'm taken," she said rudely. It only made him grin.
The woman's forehead furrowed as she forced her puffy eyes to focus. Even though it was dark in the bar, the redness of her cheeks was still obvious, an indication that she was already tipsy.
Damon scooted his stool toward her until their elbows collided.
"What are you doing? Why are you still here?" the woman said, but he didn't move away. Instead, he looked at her, noticing how her eyes widened when she realized that their faces were only a hand's breadth away. It made her speechless.
He smirked. "What? Scared?" he said in a teasing way.
Then he looked down at the woman's neck.
He gulped.
What a sexy neck, he thought.
His eyes dropped lower. She was wearing a plain black t-shirt, but it did nothing to hide the sexiness of her body. Her breasts were damn big, and he was sure that they would fit perfectly in his palms.
"Stop eye-raping me, mister," the woman said, causing him to look back up at her face.
Her expression was still cold. It was like she was trying to tell him that she was not interested.
Damon didn't know why, but even though the woman was openly hostile toward him, he couldn't let her go.
If any other woman had acted this way, he would have left. He didn't usually chase or tease women who didn't like him. There were plenty of other women who were more than willing to part their legs for him. But the woman beside him was different. Instead of turning him off, he felt excited.
He smirked. "You can't blame me, miss." He looked back at her breasts. "Those mountains are hard to ignore," he said, grinning, before looking back at the woman's face.
"Why you!"
She raised one of her hands to slap him, but he was quick to catch her wrist, causing her hand to stop midair.
"Not so fast, sweetheart," he said, still teasing her.
Quickly and forcefully, the woman withdrew her hand from his grasp. "Asshole!" she said through gritted teeth. She started to stand up but lost her balance. Damon was quick to support her. He wrapped his arm around her waist and pulled her towards him to prevent her from falling. And because she was now standing and he was not, his face pressed into her thin stomach, causing him to smell her perfume.
She was wearing Victoria's Secret perfume.
He looked up from her stomach, a playful, mischievous grin stretching across his lips.
"Easy," he whispered.
The woman's eyes widened.
She grabbed his shoulder and pushed him, backing away from him as her eyes continued to widen.
"Pervert!" she shouted angrily, then turned around and nearly ran towards the exit.
He was still daydreaming when his cellphone suddenly rang. He opened his eyes and tiredly reached for his ringing phone, which was lying next to a stack of papers.
He looked at the screen.
An unknown number.
Frowning, he answered the call. "Hello?" he said.
"Damon?" the woman on the other line asked.
"Yes. Who is this?" he answered nonchalantly.
"It's Mrs. Henry."
He suddenly sat up straight.
"Mrs. Henry, I'm glad you called! What can I do for you? Is this about Mr. Henry? Is he okay?" he asked politely.
"By the grace of God, his condition is getting better," Samantha's mother replied from the other line.
"That's good to hear. Is there something I can do for you?"
"Oh, I just called to ask if you're busy. You see, my husband's condition is getting better, so I wondered if maybe you wanted to visit him. It's been a long time since he last saw you. But if you're still busy, it's okay. I understand."
"No, Mrs. Henry. It's fine. I'll come over right now. I just need to talk to my secretary," he replied.
"Are you sure? We'd understand if you can't make it. We know how important your time is," Mrs. Henry said gently.
"It's okay, Mrs. Henry. I'll always make time for you and Mr. Henry. Just let me talk to my secretary, then I'll head over."
"Alright. We'll be waiting," Mrs. Henry said before hanging up.
Damon, on the other hand, was grinning from ear to ear.
It seemed like he had already won the hearts of Samantha's parents.
It took him half an hour to get to the hospital. Fortunately, his office was not that far away.
He'd even brought a basket full of fruit with him.
He was close to Mr. Henry's room when he saw a guy leaving.
The guy slowly closed the door to Mr. Henry's bedroom. His back was to Damon, so he couldn't see his face.
Damon walked towards him, and when he was only a few feet away, the guy turned around.
He was quite taken aback upon seeing Damon, but then his expression got serious.
"Damon," the guy said his name coldly.
He grinned.
What perfect timing.
"Well, if it isn't Samantha's jealous boyfriend," he said sarcastically.
