chapter 101: Is She Okay?
Chapter 101: Is She Okay?
Abigail
My ass burned as I turned onto my back, the sunlight from the humongous windows making me squint my eyes from the brightness. Rodrigo’s voice filled my ears immediately and made me worried from what I heard.
“No one but my most trusted business partners knows where we live, Alec. So why the hell has someone been able to get into my office!” He gritted.
“Yes, I know. Okay, we will make arrangements to stay here for the time being. Bye.”
My heart pumped faster from what I heard, I ignored the painful soreness on my ass and sat up.
“What was that about?” He turned around to look at me and sighed.
“You weren't supposed to hear that, go back to sleep.”
“No, Rodrigo. Tell me what happened.” I demanded.
“Someone got into the house?” I asked. He nodded, hands brushing through his hair in frustration.
“Yesterday, Agnes was cleaning while we were out for training and when she went into my office, it was fully trashed and the alarm system was hacked into.” My heart dropped.
“Is she okay?”
“Yes, she is staying with Alec.” He assured me.
“But we have to stay here for a little while until my men figure out who is doing this.”
“Is it connected to that number that was texting and calling me?” I asked.
“It could be. Is there anyone who you have pissed off in the past few months?” He asked and I thought for a second.
“Besides Lucy, no. There is no one.”
“I have kept tabs on her since she left, it is not her.” He shook his head. I crinkled my eyebrows.
“Why are you still keeping tabs on her?” He smirked.
“Calm down, it is not for the reason you think.”
“I can't be too sure about that, can I?” I rolled my eyes.
He ignored the comments and came over to my side of the bed, gently laying me down and placing himself between my legs before gently massaging the bruises on my ass.
“I love you,” he murmured.
“I know,” I teased. He pinched down on the most sensitive part, making me cry out.
“Fuck, I love you too.”
He laughed and leaned down to give me a short kiss.
“Nicolas and I will go get whatever you need from the house, text me where it all is and I will get it.” I nodded.
“I just needed Fiona's stuff and a few outfits. The hotel has all the toiletries and food we need.” He nodded.
“Okay,” I yawned, letting myself fall back into the soft covers for some more sleep.
“Abigail, no one beside Sonia or room service should be able to get on this floor.” He said.
“If someone knocks on the door and doesn't say who they are, don't answer it. Do you understand?”
“Yes, sir.” I replied, relaxing when I heard the door shut.
Twenty minutes later, I was in the penthouse kitchen and decided to make some lunch for us. Sonia was getting ready in their room, talking to me over the phone about nothing when I heard a knock on the door. I waited and waited, no one called out for room service. My breathing quickened and I told Sonia to be silent and stayed in her room. When I walked over to the door and squinted my eyes to make sure it was locked, I knelt on the ground and quietly shuffled closed before looking underneath to see two big black shoes standing there, waiting.
“I know you are in there, Abigail.” An unfamiliar and frightening voice filled my ears. My eyes widened in fear and I threw my hand up to cover my mouth and backed away from the door.
“Call Rodrigo, Abigail.” Sonia whispered, still on the phone with me.
“I will call Nicolas, okay? Don't panic, just stay away from the door.”
We ended the call and I called Rodrigo immediately, he answered in the second ring.
“Hey, baby..”
“There is someone here, Rodrigo.” I whispered, on the brink of tears.
“He has black shoes on and his voice is really creepy. It wasn't the room service and I don't think it is safe to open the door.”
“Go into the closet in the room, inside the second drawer, nearest to the entry, there is a gun.” He told me.
“I need you to pick it up and have it ready in case this man breaks in, okay?”
“Okay,” I frantically opened the drawer and picked up the gun, placing the magazine inside and made sure it was ready to shoot.
“Stay on the phone with me, Nicolas is closer to the hotel. He will be there soon.”
“Okay,” I whispered, crouching down on the floor and keeping silent. Nothing could be heard beside the sound of Rodrigo speeding on the other side of the phone.
“Stop speeding.” I scolded, the sound of him slowing down was evident. I let out a relieved breath.
“Abigail?” The man’s voice yelled this time.
“I know you are in there, be a good girl and open the door.”
“Rodrigo,” I whined, not able to hold back the tears anymore.
“It is okay, Abigail. Nicolas is heading up now.” He assured me.
“I am sorry, I am just scared.”
The sound of the door opening made my inside tighten with fear, a shiver went up my spine from the adrenaline pumping through my veins, giving me the strength to point the gun at the closet door. My phone fell out of my hand as I brought both hands to the gun, ready to fire and not stopping until the body of whoever this was, was lifeless on the floor. A shadow appeared on the ground, slowly getting closer as I took short and frantic breaths. His high pitched squeal felt like hell to my ears when he saw the barrel of the gun in his face with me behind it.
“Nicolas, you idiot.” I sighed.
“Why didn't you say it was you?”
“I thought the person was in here with you.” He replied.
“And I sure as hell didn't expect for you to be in here locked and loaded like a damn soldier."
We both took deep breaths and then I realized Rodrigo was still on the phone and didn't know what was going on. I looked at the screen and saw the call ended, he probably hung up.
“There wasn't anyone outside when I got here, Abigail and there is a tray of towels outside.” He said as we walked over to the kitchen.
“Are you sure it wasn't just the room service?” I sighed.
“He said I know you are in there, be a good girl and open the door.” His face fell.
“Oh, that is not good, is it?” I shook my head.
“I don't think so.”
We both jumped in fear when the door slammed open, both Sonia and Rodrigo holding pistols in their hands walked inside power radiating off them. I was scared and they weren't even after me.
