Chapter 191 BLOOD SHED FOR REPENTANCE

Chapter 191 BLOOD SHED FOR REPENTANCE
ALISANDER'S POV

The question catches me off guard as she notices it before laughing.

“Wait, you thought it was me?”

I narrowed my eyes on her.

“You chained my soul to your throne for centuries. Who else would it have been if not you?”

Her expression twists into something of genuine disgust.

“Oh, I would never do something so stupid like that.”

For the first time since waking inside Sebastian, real unease curls through me at her statement.

Because as scary as it is, she actually sounds sincere.

“I liked you exactly where you were,” she says lightly.

“Broken, screaming and miserable.” Her smile widens. “You were a delightful decoration for me.”

My stomach twists violently with anger until I'm distracted by a movement right beside me.

The Alpha lunges forward unexpectedly and before anyone can react, he grabs the silver restraints binding my body and tears them apart with brute force.

I'm mildly shocked when the chains snap apart as it rings around in the forest.

Lance swears under his breath as I blink in surprise when Dax hoists me up hard enough to cause a bruise.

“Run,” he growls as I stare at him in confusion.

This man hated Rogues and now he's freeing me?

“Turn and run,” Dax snaps harshly, shoving Sebastian backwards while the false goddess merely watches calmly.

“Are you sure you want to do this?” She asks him calmly with curiosity in her tone.

Dax freezes as she only smiles faintly.

“What about your mate?” she asks him gently. “Do you know what–”

“Shut up!” Dax roars back at her. The echo of it reverberates all through the forest.

His breathing turns ragged and shaky as he points a shaky hand at her.

“You are nothing but an evil thing pretending to be holy!” he snarls out with disgust.

“You have no jurisdiction here! No right you false goddess!”

The goddess merely watches him with cold amusement and pity in her eyes.

Dax steps fully in front of me in defiance with his orders from her.

“We’ve all worshipped you for centuries,” he spits out.

“And still you remained rotten and wicked. Devotion should have changed you if anything!”

The goddess said nothing but I could feel the air growing colder by the minute.

And somehow, that feels so much worse.

Dax turns sharply toward me in a hurry and panic.

“Go,” he orders. “Quickly find Ragn–”

He stops mid sentence as his eyes widen in shock.
Then he coughs–

Bright red blood splatters across the forest floor and for a second nobody moves as we are all frozen in shock, including Lance.

Then I see it after I look down.

The silver blade protruding cleanly through Dax’s stomach whilst the goddess is winking from behind him–

Still smiling that damned smile.

RAGNAR’S POV

Pain is the first thing I feel.

A dull, splitting ache at the back of my skull before a pungent chemical on my nose.

My eyes snap open instantly as everything looks blurry and dark right in front of me before my vision clears instantly.

The first thing or person I see is Draven slouched beside me, gripping my arm as he drags me though the forest floor.

Draven freezes the exact moment he realizes I’m awake as shock flashes on his face.

“What the–”

I move quickly before he finishes my fist greets his jaw hard enough to send him dazed and flying into a tree.

His hand flies to his face as he's in disbelief.

“You should still be unconscious–”

I’m already on my feet as the world sways once before I shake it off.

The drug still lingers in my body but it's weak and I could ignore it.

Pathetic.

People always underestimate how much poison my body can tolerate even after so long.

But right now, I don’t care about Draven.

I'm more shocked and elated that the bond between me and Sebastian is back!

He's alive, oh thank the Moon goddess!
She answered my prayers!
But alive.

For one horrible moment, it vanished completely and I was left feeling very negative emotion and doubt if he was okay.

That emptiness inside me nearly drove me insane, it was simply foolish to think I could live without acknowledging it before.

And now, I can feel him again.

He's feeling…
Fear, anxious and in pain?

My chest tightens violently.

“What the hell did you do?” I snarl.

Draven straightens slowly with blood still dripping from the corner of his mouth.

He looks at me with a wary star and for a second, something like fear flickers in his eyes.

Then arrogance returns and it disappears.

“You should mind your own business, Ragnar.”

Wrong answer buddy.

I cross the distance between us in seconds as my hand wraps around his throat and I slam him into the nearest tree really hard.

Draven chokes as the bark of the tree cracks and he tries to pry himself free from my grip.

I don’t loosen my grip and even apply more force when though this violence is not really required for what I'm about to do.

This jerk deserves it.

“Tell me the truth.”

My Alpha command crashes into him immediately as Draven stiffens with shock in his eyes.

His eyes try to look away but he loses the battle as his pupils dilate fully and I see it, as the command works its magic.

“She came to me,” he chokes out unwillingly.

Ice floods my veins as I already draw up a list of who “she” might be.
Beta Ava? Alpha Mina?

“Who?”

“The Moon goddess.”

Draven’s breathing grows uneven and unsteady under my grip but the command forces more words out of him.

There was no leeway to exploit in this.

“She offered me power without limitations,” he gasps out. “To be the next Alpha of Alphas… if I kept you distracted for long enough.”

Something inside me goes cold as everything Alisander has been trying to convince me from at the very beginning now makes sense to me.

Alisander was telling the truth.

Every warning and accusation was trying all along.

Why, though?

What could possibly threaten a divine being so badly that she involved herself directly in it?

Unless–

She isn’t what we all thought she was right from the beginning, she isn't a divine being at all.

The realization strikes like lightning through my skull as I laugh out as to how stupid and idiotic we must have all felt and looked like to her.

Centuries of worship and praise are all twisted for something or someone that isn't the right person.

Draven coughs violently against my hand.

“You’re insane,” he rasps. “You’re throwing everything away for that creature–”

I slam him harder into the tree.

“Where is he?”

The command hits again as Draven fights it even harder.
