Chapter 91 The Last Face

Chapter 91 The Last Face

"Bitch,You made me do this! You all forced my hand!" Bobby shouted, his face contorted with rage.

After his outburst, all the energy seemed to drain from his body. He collapsed onto the floor, his eyes vacant, muttering the same phrase over and over.

"Should I call security?" Simon asked from where he'd been watching the scene unfold.

They had witnessed Bobby's shameless behavior firsthand. Since talking sense to him was pointless, restraining him seemed like the safest way to stop him from doing something desperate out of spite.

Olivia declined Simon's offer to call security. She didn't bother defending herself either, simply fixing Bobby with an icy stare as she reminded him, "You've committed corporate espionage. If the company decides to press charges, you could face three to ten years in prison."

This wasn't a matter of who could shout the loudest. They had only allowed him his moment on stage because they couldn't be bothered to waste energy arguing, not because they felt guilty.

Hearing this, Bobby scoffed. "What proof do you have that I gave project data to competitors? My phone's right here—search it if you want!"

He had stolen her design competition entry, not company property! And it was her sister who had put him up to it!

Seeing his reaction, Olivia helpfully pointed out, "Isabella is a member of the Harper family and works for the Harper Group."

She crossed her arms and flashed a smirk. "I think you're forgetting that what you accidentally revealed was company project data. Do you really think the company will let this slide?"

The consequences could range from criminal charges to professional blacklisting. He was being incredibly naive.

"Olivia, please hear me out." After calming down, Bobby finally grasped the seriousness of his situation. He scrambled toward Olivia, pleading desperately at her feet. "My family is in dire straits. My mother has late-stage liver cancer. I've spent every penny trying to save her. I have a son who needs schooling and elderly parents to support. I'm the only breadwinner... I just couldn't cope anymore! It was your sister! Your sister approached me! She said if I could steal your design competition entry and give it to her, she'd pay me enough to solve my immediate problems. I was desperate, Olivia! I had no other choice!"

"Please give me another chance! I swear I'll turn over a new leaf!" Bobby continued apologizing frantically.

A flicker of sympathy crossed Olivia's eyes, but she ultimately said nothing, turning to leave.

"Olivia!" Seeing her departing, Bobby lunged forward in desperation, trying to grab her ankle as tears streamed down his face. "Please, for old times' sake, have mercy on me!"

Olivia sidestepped his attempt to touch her and quickly walked away.

She didn't want to drive Bobby to ruin, but the company had its policies. She was merely a junior designer in the design department with no authority to decide this veteran employee's fate.

Besides, if she hadn't discovered the problem in time, she would have been the one taking the fall. Would they have shown her any mercy then?

It was said that leniency to rivals spelled danger in business.

Olivia walked briskly away, her face set with unwavering determination.

The following day, Olivia called an early morning meeting.

She fully disclosed the design leak incident and explained that regardless of whether it had caused any damage, they would need to redo the design proposal from scratch.

Olivia had prepared herself to calm her team members, but to her surprise, they didn't complain at all. Instead, they expressed their understanding.

Olivia was momentarily stunned, a wave of warmth washing over her. "Thank you all for understanding."

In the afternoon, Olivia returned to the office carrying several large bags after lunch. She placed them on her desk and called her team over to share the snacks.

Her assistant was the first to approach, eyes lighting up. "Miss Harper, you've brought so many treats today!"

"You've all been working so hard on revising the proposal these past few days. This is just a small token of my appreciation," Olivia replied with a warm smile.

The team members said she was being too kind, but that didn't slow down their hands as they helped themselves to the snacks.

At 10 PM, Olivia shut down her computer. Noticing her team members were still working overtime, she asked with concern, "Aren't any of you heading home yet?"

"Almost done, just finishing up this data set," her assistant replied hurriedly, still focused on her work.

While Olivia was happy they were so dedicated, she reminded them to leave soon as they had another early meeting tomorrow.

The team members responded in unison. "We know!"

The moment Olivia left, her assistant couldn't suppress a yawn.

A team member next to her fought the urge to yawn as well, gulping down some coffee before joking, "You're usually the first one out the door, never working overtime. What's got you volunteering to stay late now?"

The assistant rubbed her fingers together and grinned. "Obviously because following the boss means making money!"

Everyone laughed at this comment.

She wasn't wrong. The last time they worked on the Turner family project, they had all earned good money under Olivia's leadership. She had even split the bonus equally among them—if they were in a different team, the leader's cut would be at least half.

As long as Olivia could lead them to financial success, they would follow her lead.

The office lights remained on until the early hours of the morning before finally going dark.

"I'm exhausted..."

Back at home, Olivia tossed her bag aside and collapsed onto the sofa, utterly drained.

Seeing her return, Alexander began methodically preparing some coffee.

The aroma wafted through the air. Olivia opened her eyes, just about to ask for a cup when he conveniently handed one to her. "Try this. Just arrived today."

"Thank you."

"You're welcome."

Olivia's fingers curled away from the scalding coffee. In a low voice, she said slowly, "And thank you for handling Bobby's situation discreetly within the company."

Allowing him to leave quietly preserved what little dignity he had left.

Alexander sipped his coffee, his tone neutral. "Any regrets?"

After all, Bobby had severely undermined their team, forcing them to scrap and redo the entire project.

Olivia gazed at her coffee, feeling surprisingly calm about the matter. "No."

Despite Bobby's malicious intent, she hadn't forgotten how he had helped her when she first joined the design department.

They were even now.

Alexander drained his cup of coffee in one go, his tone suddenly becoming rigid. "Great. No need to thank me. Just doing my job."

She could show mercy to just about anyone, so why was she always so hard on him? So ungrateful!

"Submit the new data by this Friday, or I'll penalize your team all the same," he said before heading upstairs.

The momentary warmth in the atmosphere instantly evaporated. Olivia watched Alexander's retreating back with annoyance as she muttered, "Who upset him this time?"
