Chapter 75 75
Third Person POV
“But, Dad, you can’t burn Adrian alongside these bastards. Please, I’d like to take Adrian back with me,” Thalia pleaded, but her father wasn’t having it.
“What I said is final, and you can’t do anything about it. Amber, tell your men to light this
place up; I have important things to do.”
Thalia fell to her knees, tears rolling down her cheeks. Her hands clutched her father’s arm, trying to stop him from killing Adrian. “Please, Dad. Don’t kill him. Please!” she cried out, her voice shaking with pain.
Draven looked down at her, confused and angry. He didn’t understand how she loved Adrian but still ruined his company. “Is that how love works?” He asked himself. He knew she was toxic and insane.
He wondered how Adrian fell for her useless tricks. “I love him!” Thalia screamed. “I didn’t mean for things to go this far. I just… I wanted him to pay, not die!” Her dad pulled his arm free. “This isn’t love, Thalia. This is madness.”
As all the drama was going on, Draven had already found a way to mindlink Noah. Draven didn’t know the exact location, but just by giving Noah a little description, Noah recognised the place.
Far across town, Noah received the message. He had already been on the move. He had waited hours to receive signals from Alpha Draven but got none. He was with Alice, who seemed a bit tense but ready to help anyway.
Inside the warehouse, Adrian stirred. His head throbbed, and his body ached from the tight chains. “What’s going on?” he whispered weakly.
Draven leaned over him, whispering in his ears. “Son, don’t speak. Just stay quiet. Noah is coming. I’ll try to break these chains and stop the fire.”
Adrian’s eyes widened. They had already started the fire, and everywhere was already starting to fill with smoke. He coughed, trying to breathe through the smoke. Then, through the haze, he saw Alpha Dorian dragging Thalia out of the warehouse.
She was fighting him, looking back with tears in her eyes. Nothing made sense. Why was Thalia fighting with her father? Why was she crying for him? She had destroyed his company and brought him to this place, and now she didn’t want him to die?
Adrian tried to move, but the pain was too much. His heart pounded. Everything was spinning for Thalia, Hazel, the fire, and Draven cutting his chains. He couldn’t piece it all together.
The air was thick, and it was becoming hard to breathe. Noah was taking time, but Draven was still struggling with the chains, and then Adrian noticed Draven wasn’t himself anymore; his eyes were so red, and he had already turned into his wolf form.
His wolf was larger than usual. And in a few seconds, he broke the chains; he moved to Adrian and Jason, helping them out of their chains. “Hey, Alpha!” Noah rushed in, his eyes wild, searching.
“Over here!” Draven shouted. Noah moved fast, cutting Hazel loose first, then helping Adrian up to his feet. Alice was also there helping, and before Draven could get outside, they had all driven off.
“Take them to the pack now; I’ll join you guys.” Draven ordered, and with a swift movement, both Noah and Alice covered Adrian, Hazel and Luna Adlyn with their shadows, transporting them to the pack.
Draven couldn’t turn back to his human form just yet, so he ran out of the warehouse as he watched it burn from afar.
Noah was completely drained by the time they got back to the pack. He had used his shadows to transport everyone, and it had taken a heavy toll on him. He could barely stand, let alone help Hazel.
Her condition was worse than expected, and he knew he couldn’t treat her in his state. So, they called the other physician. She arrived quickly, her steps full of urgency.
Without wasting time, she rushed into the room where Hazel lay weak and pale on the bed. The moment she saw her, she turned to everyone else in the room.
“I want you all to leave right now so I can attend to her,” she said firmly. Hazel’s mother refused to leave. “She’s my daughter. I need to be with her,” she said, her voice trembling with worry.
The physician hesitated for a moment, then gave a small nod. “Fine. But don’t get in the way.” The others stepped out of the room, the door closing softly behind them. Outside, the tension was thick.
Adrian stood quietly, staring at the floor. He felt a storm of emotions inside him. He couldn’t believe Thalia had done all that. The betrayal stung, but right now, all he cared about was that Hazel and the baby survived.
His mind kept racing. Thalia was also carrying his child. He knew he couldn’t ignore her either. No matter what happened, he had to be there for the child. And then there was Noah.
The man was barely holding himself together, sitting silently on the steps, trying to recover his strength. Suddenly, the door to the main hall opened. Draven walked in.
Everyone turned to look at him, eyes wide in surprise. No one expected him to be back so soon—his transformation had been wild. Usually, it would take days before he returned to normal.
Draven’s eyes scanned the room quickly. “Where is Hazel?” he asked, his voice firm but calm. Adrian stepped forward. “She’s with the physician,” he replied.
Draven made a move toward the room, but Jason raised his hand to stop him. “She said we should all wait outside,” Jason said quietly, not wanting to anger him.
Draven stopped, breathing heavily for a moment. Then, without another word, he turned and looked directly at Adrian. “I need to talk to you,” he said, his tone leaving no room for argument. “Come with me. Now.”
Adrian hesitated for a second, then nodded. He followed Draven as the others remained silent, each lost in their own thoughts.
Alpha Draven walked out of the house without saying a word, his steps heavy and full of anger. Adrian’s heart was beating fast, because he already knew what his uncle wanted to talk about. It was about Thalia. It had to be.
When Adrian stepped outside, he saw Draven standing in the middle of the yard. His hands were clenched into tight fists. His clothes were torn, hanging off him in pieces from when he had shifted into his wolf form earlier.
The night air was cold, but the anger rolling off Draven made it feel like the whole place was burning. “What do you want to talk about, Uncle?” Adrian asked carefully, keeping his voice low.
Draven turned around slowly, his eyes sharp and full of rage. “I want to talk about how Thalia was able to move all our funds while you were in charge of the company,” Draven said, his voice rough and biting.
Adrian opened his mouth but no words came out. His mind was spinning, trying to find an answer, but there was none. “Cat got your tongue now?” Draven growled.
“You can't even answer a simple question. I’m so disappointed in you, Adrian. How could you let a woman deceive you like that?” Adrian looked down at the ground, shame washing over him. His fists tightened at his sides.
“I know you want to hit me, Uncle,” Adrian said after a moment, his voice almost a whisper. “Hit me all you want.” A dark smile touched Draven’s lips.
“I was going to do that. Thanks for the reminder,” he said. Before Adrian could even brace himself, Draven swung his fist hard across Adrian’s face. The punch sent Adrian staggering backwards, nearly falling to the ground.
Pain exploded in his jaw, but he didn’t move to defend himself. He knew he deserved it. Draven stood there, breathing hard, his body still shaking with anger.
“You were supposed to be stronger than this, Adrian. You were supposed to protect the pack’s future, not throw it away for some woman’s lies!” Adrian wiped the blood from his lip, his heart heavy.
He wanted to explain, to tell his uncle how Thalia had fooled him, how she had seemed so real, so honest. But what good would words do now? The damage was already done.
Draven turned away, running a hand through his messy hair. For a moment, he just stood there, looking up at the stars as if searching for some answer. Finally, he spoke again, his voice low and full of sadness.
“I’m sorry, Uncle,” Adrian pleaded, his voice shaking, tears filling his eyes. He had already lost everyone he cared about. No one was on his side anymore. He couldn’t lose his uncle too — not him.
Draven stared at him, his hard face softening just a little. “I’m sorry too, Adrian,” he said almost right away, his voice rough. Adrian blinked in surprise. He hadn’t expected that.
“I know I left you alone for years,” Draven continued, pain clear in his eyes. “I regret it every single day. I should’ve explained things to you... about your mother, about everything. But I was scared, Adrian. I didn’t know how to tell you.”
The air between them was heavy, the silence louder than any words. Draven looked at Adrian, seeing the broken boy who had grown into a broken man because he hadn’t been there to guide him.
“If you want to know the truth... ask me. I’ll tell you everything,” Draven said, his voice low. Adrian shook his head, wiping his tears away. “I don’t want to know. It’s all in the past now. Let’s leave it there... and move forward.”
For the first time in a long while, hope sparked between them. “So we’re good now, yeah?” Adrian asked, a small hope in his voice.
“Yeah, we’re good,” Draven said with a smile. “But you still have to apologize to Hazel and recover the funds you lost.” Both of them laughed at the same time, the tension finally breaking.
“Yeah, I’ll apologize to her and do my best to bring the company back on its feet,” Adrian promised. He stepped back a little and grinned. “But I’m still upset you took my woman though,” he added quickly, keeping his distance.
“I’m staying right here, just in case you feel like swinging again.”
