Chapter 70 70

Chapter 70 70
Third Person POV
Hazel thought she had seen all there was to life, that she couldn't be more surprised and shocked by anything that ever happened to her again, no matter what life threw at her, but nothing had prepared her for this moment.
She looked at the old lady inside once more. "Excuse me, you were one of the Luna of this pack?" Hazel asked once more, hoping she had certainly heard wrong, but if what this woman said was tight, then her entire life had been a lie.
"Years ago, a very long time ago, I'm not sure how long I've spent down here ever since I lost my daughter, but it's been a really long time," Adylne said, but Hazel was more interested in the last statement she made.
"Your daughter, you lost your daughter? To who? Why? If you're Luna, then why are you here, and what's Alpha Dorian and my stepmother doing up there?" Hazel asked; she was careful not to say anything about herself.
She figured that the woman who was locked down here for so long was locked for a reason; she knew something that no one did, and if she ever said something to anyone outside, it would destroy someone's lives that they had worked so hard for.
"Dorian and Elara huh?" The woman chuckled a bit, but Hazel could hear it soon in her voice; she could almost taste it, but she kept calm. She wanted to know this woman's story.
There was nothing else she could do till her jacket came back here to meet her. "Alpha Dorian was my husband’s beta," the woman began.
"Many years ago, while I was married to my husband, Dorian was his beta, his very right-hand man that he trusted with everything; I think that was my husband's greatest mistake," she said.
"Tell me what happened." Hazel pushed, wanting to know more. The woman smiled at her; she looked like she was happy to have someone to talk to after so many years, and that made Hazel feel better about her situation.
Even if it was only temporary, but that was enough for her. "Dorian grew envious of my husband and wanted to covet the Alpha seat for himself. As his beta and the only one close to strength with him, he filled my husband in a sneak attack and got married to his lover Elara."
The woman paused as though talking about the memory brought back so much pain for her, but she pushed forward. "I was kidnapped by them and imprisoned, but I was also pregnant with a child.”
“Elara couldn't kill me, so what she did instead was take my daughter away from me, promising my daughter a better life. While she left me down here to rot," she sniffed a bit as she used the sleeve of her prison grib to wipe her eyes.
"The only mercy she gave me was the chance to name my daughter before she took her away. I've been locked down here for that long, and I don't even know what has happened to the pack, or my daughter." Adylne sniffed.
Hazel knew it wasn't easy to talk about things like this; she had so many questions on her mind, but there was one she could not stop asking herself.
She pursed her lips lightly as she thought of how best to ask the question, "What's your... your daughter's name? Maybe I might know her and tell you how she's been," Hazel said in an attempt to quell her curiosity and ease the woman.
"I name her Hazel, after her eyes" she said in a low tone. She didn't want to remember the name and the pain that came with it, Hazel.
She had hoped to see her daughter, cradle her, carry her through childhood, sing songs together, play sports, warn her about boys, and be there for her like a mother should.
But here she was rotting away in a cell underground with no idea about where her daughter might be or if she was even alive.
"Mother?….” Hazel said as tears fell from her eyes down to her fingers, she wasn't even aware that she had been crying. After she heard those words from the women in front of her, she knew instinctively; there was no denying that the woman in front of her was her mother.
Her life had been a lie, and now she just had to find out the truth in the most unexpected and harshest way possible. She looked at her mother in tatters; her skin dried to the point of falling off; she was malnourished and bony.
Yet regardless of all that, Hazel jumped towards her, locking her in a fight hug. The tears wouldn't stop flowing down from her face, and it was for her mother.
Adylne couldn't understand what had happened, but she knew that her longest desire had been answered. She hugged her daughter, crying on her sbd, and she did on her too.
Both women were stunned, shocked, yet happy to say words to each other; all they could do was cry, hoping things would get better, hoping they could make it out of here alive and live the life she always wanted.
"Well, isn't that a beautiful reunion, huh, Jonah?" Thalia said as she watched the both of them in each other's arms, bringing her mother closer to her.
"You! You knew all about this and let all this happen? How could you, Thalia ? This was my mother; couldn't you have taken her out? Sent her to another state or country instead of letting her rot away here."
Hazel screamed at the top of her lungs; she was furious but helpless at the same time, and truly, there was no greater frustration than that.
Hazel saw the man who had knocked her out walk towards Thalia and kiss her on the lips directly; they kissed intimately as the man's hands grabbed her in places that would make any woman fold.
"Stop now, Jonah; she wasn't supposed to see that." Thalia  giggled as she pulled away from Jonah before turning her head back to Hazel.
"Cat's out of the bag, I guess; no need hiding it from an already dead woman." Thalia laughed softly.
"As you had just seen, he's the one I'll spend my life with, not that fool Adrian. Jonah is also the father of my child. I feel sorry for Adrian, but not my problem." Thalia  shrugged as she looked directly at Hazel.
Never in her life had Hazel even felt this much hatred towards a single person: "You did all this to me, Adrian, just for what?" Hazel asked weakly; she wasn't even sure what she should do.
"We all played in your hands from the very beginning; it was all your plan, but for what? Why would you go through all this? What did we ever do to you, Thalia ?" Hazel pushed forward.
"How would you feel if it was Luna Elara who sat here instead of my own mother? How would you feel knowing you've been lied to all your life by those who didn't even bother or care about you in the slightest?"
Hazel didn't feel like pushing her, so she decided to change the subject to a harmless one. She held her mother close to her as she thought of their future.
"What are you going to do with us?, Thalia " Hazel asked, trying not to sound as downtrodden as she felt.
"As you can see, I make money selling people and both of you? Are definitely getting sold tonight," Thalia grinned wickedly at them.
