Chapter 53 53

Chapter 53 53
Third Person POV
Draven looked at Hazel and was shocked; he couldn't imagine saying something so random like that; he wasn't even aware of what had happened.
He looked and saw Adrian on the ground, holding Thalia in his arms, saying something about how she had fallen down the stairs. "What's going on here?" Draven's voice thundered.
He knew Hazel had said what she did because she saw him coming into the house before the others had. So her saying she was pregnant was the truth but a creative way to bring me into the situation.
"Alpha" Adrian turned around in surprise; Thalia also looked a bit shaken. Draven knew just how cautious she was about him, and now seemed like a good time to take advantage of that situation.
"Don't make me repeat myself," Draven said once more, his voice echoing through the entire hall. His voice carried the weight of authority, making the maids and servants scamper away into the inner rooms.
"Hazel, she pushed Thalia down the stairs," he said in a shaky voice defensively. Draven knew that hadn't happened; he knew Hazel wasn't so immature that she would do something like that, which meant that all of this was something planned by Thalia.
Hazel couldn't defend herself against Thalia, much less Thalia and Adrian, so he had to step in. "And what's the problem?" Draven asked indifferently, and Adrian looked at him with a shocked expression pasted in his face.
"She's pregnant, uncle," he said in anger as he stood up. "And so is your Luna." Draven thundered back at him; his voice wasn't loud, nor did he shout, but it still had its effect.
"Or need I remind you how the hierarchy of the pack works?" He asked Adrian. Adrian bowed his head regrettably as he folded his feet, and Thalia still lay on the floor.
For some reason, it made me feel even more irritable that she was still pretending at this point; she didn't look like someone who was in any sort of pain.
"And you?" Draven turned towards Thalia; she turned and looked at him with a startled expression on her face. He saw the blood smeared on her forehead, but it didn't matter to him; it was just a scrape.
"Are you so weak that a fall down the stairs would leave you dazed?" He asked Thalia; she looked from Adrian to Hazel, then back to Draven. "I... I felt a bit dizzy after I fell," she lied. She spoke her words cautiously, as Draven had expected.
"She is the Luna of this pack; you are just a visitor; even if you are pregnant with my nephew, it means nothing if you are not married to him; show your respects, woman," he said, looking down at Thalia, who kept avoiding his eyes for some reason.
Draven looked at both of them once more and said, "There will be peace in this house; I won't have it otherwise; is that understood?" He asked carefully, saying out his words for all to hear; his words reached every part of the house.
"Yes, Alpha," Adrian said with his head bowed. Draven walked past him then stopped, "And Adrian, if your woman is pregnant, she should be in the care of other women and not yours, don't you think?" He said to Adrian once more.
"I'll see to that," Adrian said respectfully. Draven heard a muffled sound from Thalia and held the urge to smile to himself. He enjoyed the feeling of power, but there was an addiction that came with controlling those who didn't want to be in line.
He looked up at Hazel, who was smiling like a child down at him; her smile gave warmth to him in ways he couldn't understand. He wasn't sure if it was love, but he was sure about one thing.
He cared about Hazel much more than he cared to admit, but she didn't have to know all that. He climbed up the stairs step by step till she met him at the top of the stairs.
Draven didn't bother to look back at Adrian and Thalia, hoping they weren't standing there like fools. "Thank you," Hazel whispered as she hugged him with all her strength.
He could feel the energy and gratitude from her; it made him happy and made him want to do more, but this would have to do for now. "It's my duty to protect my wife," Draven replied.
He noticed her cheeks flush red at the compliment, which made him smile in return. "Where have you been? I woke up looking for you everywhere," she said.
As soon as she let go of him, Draven began walking towards the room; he didn't feel comfortable talking about such matters out in the open; hopefully she got the message and followed right behind him.
After he got into his room, he heard the door shut behind him. He took off his jacket and turned around to face her; she still looks beautiful, just as beautiful as last night.
He hadn't been able to get the memory out of his head of what happened to them last night, but that had been the same reason that he left the house this morning.
"So?" Hazel pushed once more the answers as she sat down at the edge of the bed. "Well, if you must know, do you remember what Sara had told us when we were in her house the last night?" He asked her.
Hazel looked away for a moment at her nails but looked back at Draven. "Yes, she said we would need to have sex to break the curse over you, something along those lines," she said.
Draven nodded his head. "So after what happened last night, I felt something leave you and enter me. I wasn't sure what it was or if it was indeed dangerous to you, but I had to ask her to find out," he said truthfully.
He had been really bothered that morning when he woke up, so he had to go ask Sara. "And what did she say?" Hazel asked hopefully.
Draven hesitated; he could remember the laughter he had to endure from that old lady just because he told her he had sex with his wife, telling her things like that made him looked more calm and reanephew able.
And whatever bullshit she could think of that came to her lips. "Well, she said that you unconsciously drew out your innate power to heal and completely fixed me; the curse tried to permeate into your own body.”
“But your gift reversed everything that had happened, and that's how I became healed as we both became one," Draven said. He couldn't believe he was being made to say something as corny as this.
"Oohh, I hadn't realised," she said in a sheepish voice. Draven had half the mind to go back to Sara and smack her over the head for making him say something as dumb as this.
He shouldn't have trusted her; he could have just said something like else in his head. "So what happens now?" She asked him; he liked her a bit confused at what she was asked for before it hit him.
He had almost forgotten why all this had happened in the first place. “Wait, before that, did she say anything about your wolf coming out being violent again?" She asked with a concerned expression.
Draven felt a part of his heart grow softer towards her. "She says I'll have to test it under the full moon; that's the only way to be sure," he said, a bit doubtful. In all truth, he was indeed scared.
What if it didn't go well, or he lost control and hurt someone? He couldn't imagine him ever forgiving himself, but it's something he also had to do to move forward, or there would be no point in all he did.
"And that's in two days, right?" She asked carefully, while she play with her fingers; that was a habit she had whenever she was nervous. Draven smiled deeply at her; he knew this burden was ultimately his and he would have to deal with it as a man should.
"It's going to be alright; I can feel myself getting better and whole," he said calmly to ease her doubts. She returned his smile back at him, feeling better.
"Okay, it's going to be alright," she said calmly, believing it herself. "Do you have any plans for today? You're usually as busy as a bee," she said.
"Well, I do have a meeting with Elder Frey," Draven said calmly, not wanting to look forward to the meeting, but it's not like he could avoid it. "Who's that?" She asked curiously.
"It's one of the elders in the pack, and he brought some disturbing news with him," Draven said, not sure how Hazel would take this.
"What's the news? You look bothered by it," she said, standing up and walking to him. "The Labrinth family has invited our family for a ball party."
