Chapter 104 104
Chapter 104 104
Draven's POV
The cryptic message contained a location—a hidden place known only to a select few. It was there that Richard had asked me to come and meet with him.
We moved swiftly through the darkened woods, our senses heightened by the urgency of the mission. The moon hung high above us, casting an eerie glow on their path. My mind raced with thoughts of Hazel.
It was hard to convince her that I'd be gone for a while, as she kept asking where I would be going at night. And so Rachel had to use her magic to lock her in an enchanted slumber for her own protection.
As we got closer to our destination, the landscape transformed into a dense forest. Twisted branches reached out like skeletal fingers, and the underbrush crackled underfoot.
Jason took a side glance at me, concern etched across his face. "Are you sure about this, Draven? Something doesn't exactly feel right," he whispered.
My gaze hardened. "I feel it too, but it doesn't matter; I won't let Richard hurt my people with his group any longer. Hazel's safety and the safety of our pack are paramount. We have to stop him before he grows stronger."
We pressed on, guided by the faint whispers of the wind, which seemed to carry us toward our destination. The forest grew denser, and the air was heavy with witch magic, which we easily sensed. Suddenly, we stumbled upon a hidden path, concealed by the overgrown foliage.
The path led us deeper into the heart of the forest, where a clearing bathed in moonlight emerged. In the centre stood an ancient stone structure.
My heart pounded in my chest as I approached the entrance. I pushed open the heavy doors, revealing a dimly lit chamber filled with an aura of mysticism. The air crackled with energy, and the scent of witch spells hung in the air.
As Jason, Rachel, and I stepped farther into the chamber, suddenly the shadows of the ancient warriors disappeared, and what was left was a door. We headed towards it and swung it open.
My heart sank as I saw Hazel held captive by Richard's sinister grip. The once-green smoke that had enveloped her back at my mansion now swirled with a malicious shade of purple, indicating the witch magic that had been unleashed upon her.
My protective instincts surged, and I was about to make a move when I got held back by Jason. "We have to stay focused if we are truly going to save her." He advised.
Richard loomed before us, a twisted smile etched across his face. His eyes glinted with a malevolent hunger as he began to weave his words, revelling in the opportunity to taunt his adversaries.
"Ah, Draven, my dear rival," he sneered, his voice dripping with arrogance. "You see, I have always been envious of your power and your connection to the pack.
And you know how much I envy power, and so I've decided that the position of being Alpha is not enough for me—I crave dominance over all the packs in our clan. And with dear Hazelby my side, I will cement my reign."
My fists clenched, and my muscles were tense. I glanced at Rachel, silently urging her to stay alert as Richard continued spouting absolute nonsense, his voice laced with a dangerous charisma.
"I discovered the forbidden arts of witch magic," he boasted, his eyes gleaming with a maniacal light. "This ancient witchcraft allows me to harness the life force of others, stealing their powers and adding them to my own.
And you, dearest Draven, possess a strength that I desire for myself—a strength that will make me invincible."
Draven.
"But tonight, under the full moon, the convergence of celestial energies will amplify my blood magic," Richard continued, a twisted excitement dancing in his voice.
"I will drain you of your Alpha powers, Draven, and become a force beyond imagination. No wolf or witch in the universe will be able to challenge me."
With every word, my determination grew. I couldn't let Richard succeed—not for me, not for Hazel, but for the safety of the entire supernatural and nonsupernatural species.
I locked eyes with Richard, my voice resonating with a newfound strength. "You underestimate my power, dear old friend, and the resilience of those who protect what they cherish. I will stop you, Richard, and your pride will crumble with your rogue werewolves and allies."
Jason gazed up at me; his resolve ignited, and suddenly, Rachel stepped forward beside me. Together, we had already prepared to face Richard, knowing that the battle ahead would be our greatest challenge yet.
Richard's twisted grin widened as he gazed at Rachel. He turned his attention to her, his voice laced with a seductive tone.
"Ah, Rachel." Richard purred, his gaze locked on her. "Did you truly believe your affections for Draven went unnoticed? I've always been astute, my dear, and I've witnessed every stolen glance and every hidden touch.
How frustrating it must have been for you to be forced to keep your love hidden in the shadows for so many years."
Rachel's face flushed, a mix of emotions crossing her features. Her eyes darted between Jason and me. My gaze met hers, and my expression was a mix of disbelief and surprise. All along, she had a thing for me, and I'm just finding out about it now. I wondered how long she had to hide it.
Richard stepped closer to her, his voice laden with persuasive intent. "Join me, Rachel. You and I both know that our desires align. With his power drained, he will be free from his Alpha responsibilities, and you can finally be together. We can rule side by side, with Hazeland Draven under our control."
I feared Rachel's heart would waver. She looked torn and had a look that told me she had trouble deciding between her loyalty and the tempting promises Richard laid before her. She glanced at me once more, a hint of pain in her eyes, before meeting Richard's gaze. Her voice quivered as she spoke.
"I... I did love Draven, but that was long ago, and now my loyalty lies with what is right, not just for the witches but also for the werewolves. I won't abandon my principles for selfish desires," she declared, her voice filled with newfound resolve.
My heart swelled with a mix of emotions—gratitude, admiration, and a renewed sense of understanding. She truly is a very good friend. "Rachel, your loyalty and unwavering strength are among the many reasons I cherish you as my best friend," I said, my voice filled with sincerity.
Richards expression twisted with frustration, his plans foiled by her steadfastness. He scoffed, the charm in his voice replaced by anger.
"Very well," he spat. "If you choose to stand against me, prepare for the consequences. I will make sure your defiance leads to your ultimate downfall."
I, Jason, and Rachel shared a silent moment.
I stood before Richard and no longer looked at him like an old friend but only as the leader of the rogue werewolves who had taken my mate, Hazel, captive.
The air hung heavy with tension as a sinister aura emanated from his towering figure. I looked towards Hazel, my beloved, who was suspended in mid-air just behind Richard, trapped within a shroud of swirling magical darkness and purple smoke.
My heart clenched with worry as I looked up at her, her body looking limp and lifeless. The sight fueled the fire of determination within me, urging me to confront Richard and free Hazelfrom his malevolent grasp.
"Release her, Richard!" I shouted, my voice quivering with a mixture of anger and fear.
He turned to face me, his eyes gleaming with cruel amusement. "Ah, Draven, I've been expecting your dramatic outbreak," he sneered. "But I'm afraid your mate is beyond your reach now. She belongs to me."
Jason stepped forward, his voice laced with a potent mixture of authority and anger. "Richard, your plans end here. Release Hazeland end your plans, or face your own doom."
"The witch clan will also come for you, and you do not want to taste the wrath of a witch." Rachel added. He chuckled, his voice echoing through the cavernous space. "You think your feeble witchcraft can match the power of a werewolf with witch magic? You are sorely mistaken."
I felt the primal rage within me surge forward, my werewolf instincts urging me to protect what was mine. Ignoring Richard's taunts, I bared my fangs and prepared to attack. Jason and Rachel followed suit, her hands crackling with raw magical energy while Jason shifted.
As we lunged at Richar, a fierce battle erupted within the confines of the hidden cave. The clash of fangs, claws, and magic filled the air, the sound reverberating off the walls. I fought with every fibre of my being, and my mind focused solely on Hazel's liberation.
But Richard was a formidable opponent. He dodged and parried our strikes with unnerving agility, his strength matched only by his cunning nature. As the battle raged on, I caught glimpses of Hazel, her ethereal form fading in and out of focus. I couldn't let her slip away.
