Chapter 8 History Can Never
Lucian
She went stiff instantly as my lips collided with hers.
I pressed against her the more, feeling her breast lump against my chest.
Her body shook under mine, making me deepen the kiss. That wasn't my plan, though, but even my wolf was happy with the turn of things.
With every ounce of my strength, I pulled back at once before I went further. With Aria, I can't trust myself.
She hesitated for a moment, her cheeks growing red. Then she sat up and screamed. “What did you do that for!”
I laughed. “I said I would kiss you if you don't act like a good girl.”
Her eyes widened with terror. “You said you would kiss me if I cried!”
“Oh, did I?” I laughed again, as if I forgot, but I didn't, as a matter of fact.
Her luscious and kissable lips have been calling out to me all day, and well, this was my chance to taste them, and I must say they taste so good.
Now that I know how they taste on my lips, I wonder how they would feel around my cock.
“Isn't that enough for you? I heard you've been throwing tantrums. Wants me to_” I said teasingly as I moved closer to her again.
She got up and rushed to the other side of the room. I could sense her fear from where I sat.
“You will stay away from me!”
I laughed. “Is that an order?”
“I don't want to know. All I know is that you will stay away from me!”
I regarded her for a moment. “Why?”
Looks like I was right after all. She might be human, but she won't be able to disregard the mate bond.
I moved to the edge of the bed. “Then you will be a good girl. And the next time you try to run, I will do more than I have done,” finishing my words, I stood up and made towards the door.
“What am I here for exactly?” She asked, just as I grabbed the knob to pull the door open.
I hesitated. “You don't have to think of that. You are mine, and that's what you will be. I will decide what I want to use you for,” I explained in a harsher tone than I planned.
I stepped out and locked the door, then turned to one of the maids standing by the door.
“Make sure the door stays locked away.”
The maid bowed slightly.
“Get her some food now.”
I stepped into the living room. Susan and Ben were waiting for me.
“Alpha, are you really alright?” Sam asked.
I ignored him and walked to the bar to find some alcohol for myself.
“Not a scratch, Ben. It's nothing to worry about,” I finally responded and looked at Susan. “You shouldn't have shown up like that.”
“I'm sorry, Alpha. I didn't know she was here. I thought she was at the packhouse. And now she wouldn't even see me,” she sounded broken. If I didn't know better, I would say she's sad that her friendship with Aria turned out this way.
Even though I was the one who arranged for that friendship to work out. From day one, Susan's job was to take care of Aria.
I gulped down a glass of tequila.
“She will come around, I'm sure.”
“But she's really not like that. Realising she's alone can actually do more harm than good for her. Her boyfriend betrayed her, and her best friend of three years also betrayed her. I really think we should_”
“What?” I growled.
Susan hesitated for a moment, then cleared her throat meaningfully. “I feel she should know who she really is and let her make the decision.”
“No, I'm not interested,” I muttered and poured myself another glass of tequila.
“But_”
“You will not be the one to decide the fate of my mate!” I thundered and felt her shiver under it.
She pouted. “But she's my friend!” She whined, turned around, and walked out quickly.
I watched her for a moment. She might be her friend but she's my mate. She's all mine and she will continue to be no matter what.
“I'm beginning to have my doubts though,” Ben said suddenly, stepping forward and taking the glass of tequila from me.
I groaned and took another cup to pour myself another.
“Are you about to side with Susan?”
“The Lucian I know is always calculative when it comes to attacking but he suddenly went into the Forbidden's shelter without any plan in mind. The Forbidden move in packs. What if something bad had happened to you? Aria is clearly a threat here, you have to let her go.”
I chuckled and downed the drink.
“It doesn't matter. Aria is here to stay.”
“But she's becoming your weakness.”
“Are you saying I should have let the Forbidden have my mate as dinner? Heaven knows every single Forbidden out there would have suffered the consequences!” I swore.
Ben sighed. “But Aria doesn't even acknowledge you. She doesn't even know who she is to you.”
“She won't,” I promised, and I gently placed the remaining bottle of tequila back in its place. “She doesn't need to.”
“Why? Because of your mother?”
I regarded him for a moment. “Aria might be like my mother but she would never be able to make the same decision she did. I won't let her. I will keep her here and make sure she never leaves even if it means locking her here against her will.”
“But_”
“History will never repeat itself, Ben,” I cut in quickly. “Make preparations. Aria is going to the packhouse sooner.”
“Lucian_” Ben started again.
“And we are done with this conversation. Aria stays,” I said firmly.
“Alright Alpha,” Ben succumbed eventually.
“Tell Susan to leave for now. She can come back when Aria is a lot calmer.”
I don't care at this point. The only thing I'm after is for Aria to stay where she belongs, beside me. She will not have the free will to choose. No, I'm not ready for history to repeat itself.
I will prevent it.
