Chapter 111

Autumn

A month passed, and we were in the reception area of the packhouse after the second wedding. His mother cried, and took so many pictures of us that she’d Already gotten them scent to them to be developed. And even though Frigus had Already seen the first wedding, he laughed with her sharing wine.

“Alright Oliver, it’s time for you to do your speech.” Said his mom, and Diana, Frigus’s mate, had her phone ready to record.

He gave me a peck on the cheek, going up with his wine, and he took a breath once he got on stage into a rag. “Pardon my breathing into this napkin. Every breath I take is a choice, but the venom I spew is still developing since I’m not even a hundred yet.” He said with a soft smile, and everyone more or less said that they didn’t mind. “Pack, friends, guests and mates… today is not only a celebration of me and Autumn’s human-style union, but also the union of packs. Bloodlines that have never crossed paths, now join in kindship…. And honestly, in 3 or 4 decades, we fully plan to have pups.” He grinned and there were chuckles.

I facepalmed. There were more giggles when he wiggled his eyebrows.

“I propose a toast to my mate. My loving mate who loved me regardless of how stupid I am. And to her family, that didn’t skin me, I’m lookin’ at you Frigus.” He pointed.

“Spar with me tomorrow morning.” He chuckled. I think this was the happiest he’d ever been. Even when I was a kid, I never remember seeing him smile. “I am the oldest wolf in this room…. And I must say… I remember the first Omega pup of my line… I remember the next generation… I remember when the first werewolves born without wolves were born…. I remember seeing them die at no older than 75… and I remember seeing my little one here born with a wolf so frail I knew she would suffer the same condition as her parents… Thank you Oliver. You saved her with your love… love I was against at first because I thought you only wanted her line’s blood.” He said quietly.

“All is forgiven grandfather.” He said with a small smile on stage. “As a future father myself… I know I too will have to keep lusty wolves away from our pups, but all overcomes the True Bond….” He raised his glass. “To the Pale Lady.”

Everyone raised their glasses, and there were claps for us. He got down, and we shared a gentle kiss on the lips.

---30 years later---

My mate sat with me as I did my work for the High Council in our office. The hospital was buzzing with life. It was the usual. Doctors, nurses, Omegas delivering things to different offices, the normal flow of the pack.

I was happy with life… I held a mate who not only was my true mate… but one that also loved me. She was currently busy herself.

I had her working on a project with my mother. They were trying to make sure that the witches were taken care of, and that their magical needs were being met. I may have been their coven’s leader, but I was still learning. There was only so much I could learn in a few years, where they had studied their whole lives. Some in my coven were thousands of years old, and they helped me when they could, but there was still fear of me.

I could understand that… I mean I did eat their leaders in front of them….

I yawned and stretched.

“Are you still tired?” Asked Autumn.

“No, just restless.” I said logging off my computer a second.

“Want to talk about it?” She asked, I nodded.

“Just… Stress.” I said honestly. “Everything is good, nothing is happening, but I feel like something Will.

“Well… something Is.” She said quietly.

“What? You aren’t sick again are you?” I asked with a little worry.

“Well… kind of.”

/She is with pup./ Said East.

“Are you Sure you’re ready for this?!” I asked, and she put her hand on her belly.

I went to hug her gently, and she kissed me on the cheek. “I know East told you I saw your eyes flash…. But yes… our pup will be three fourth’s wolf… so a hybrid… the only one in your pureblooded family.” She mumbled.

“I don’t care. I will love our pup.” I said firmly, kissing her on the lips. “I was hoping we’d have a family…. It seems now we will… I should have noticed when all the other she wolves were getting pregnant… damnit.”

“I should have noticed when I was getting morning sickness… also like… we Work At A Hospital.” She said with a small smile.

“Want to go abuse your Luna status and go get an ultrasound?” I asked getting up, and she smiled.

“You’re terrible. Let’s do it.” She said taking my hand.

We walked down the hallway, but I smelled her fear rise as we got closer to the elevator. I texted the head obstetrician, Dr. Samson, a fae. He was a blunt man, but what he lacked in subtlety, he made up for in having a 100% success rate. He specialized in pretty much all fields, but we are immortal; that wasn’t necessarily impressive.

“Don’t worry my little mate.” I said putting her under my arm. “I won’t let you or our pup be in any danger. That I swear to you.”

“…. I know that but this is still so new to both of us.” She said with a smile.

“Yeah, but I for one can’t wait to be a father…. The trips to the cabin, teaching them how to hunt… how to lead, hell, I can’t wait to teach them how to speak wolfspeach…. I want them to know a father like I knew mine… one who would still be here if not for being stabbed in the back.” I said getting off the elevator.

I made my peace with loosing my father, but her hand on my shoulder soothed much of the unrequited pain that was still left from that, as much as I hated to admit it.

“You never stop grieving a parent Oliver… I still miss my parents.” She said silently. She’d lost them to age a decade ago, and I hated that while she was upset there was little I could do for her. They were mortal… it was something that we both knew would happen…

“My regret is that they couldn’t live to see this moment, but they are with the Lord of Light now.” I told her to console her.

She smiled, saying nothing, but I could hear her. She was stronger than I gave credit.

Down the hall his office was always empty until you went through the threshold of the door. It was weird, but magical, something as a magician myself I understood. Well… kind of.

“Come have a seat. I don’t have a lot of time today, but congratulations Oliver.” He grumbled getting a miniature ultrasound turned on, and we did as we were told. Something about him always made East listen when he spoke.

“Can you scent that she’s with child?” I asked and he gave me a quick look that told me no, but he did answer my question.

“I am simply good at what I do.” He said with a small smile. “Now before I use this thing, would you rather I do it the old way? It is more accurate.”

“Do what you think is best.” She said deciding for us.

“Very well.” He said turning it off, and motioning her to lift her shirt a little. I’d seen this technique done before with elves. “She’s about two and a half months along. It is a boy, and he is already dead.” He said with a soft smile.

“What? How can you smile at that!” I snarled, and the look he gave me kind of froze me in place.

“He will be like You.” He said as if it were common knowledge. “There is a soul in that little body early, I assume for both your sakes, that you not be rid of the fetus.”

“…. Wow… but he’s only a month along, how do you know it’s a boy?” Asked Autumn.

“The soul is male, plus with wolves, two months is about four…. I can also see that his third leg is forming if that helps.” He chuckled.

My mate looked at her tummy, and I held her small hands. I loved this small woman…. I would trade everything I’d ever gotten for her to be well.

“What do we owe you?” I asked, and he was silent a moment.

“This is my base of operation. Keep my presence to yourselves, and I will deliver him in a little while.” He said with a firm nod.

We shook to that.

“You know you could have offered anything…. I know your skills are legendary.” I said with a smile.

“I know, but I do not need anything. I do this to stave off boredom.”

-----End-----

Guys it’s been fun as all outdoors writing this, and TBH I could keep going, but if I let their child be a sequel, but I want to thin out some of my projects so I’m not so thinned out
