Blood bath
Blood bath
His intense gaze made me wet on the spot, I clenched my thighs instinctively, gasping and trembling with the glass of blood in my hands.
He only stared at me and I was aching.
I could literally feel my fluids soaking my panties right now.
“Now would be a very good time to hand him the cup,” he snapped, his tone sharp enough to jolt me from the daze. “Unless you’d rather be drained dry and romanticized posthumously.”
I barely turned my head to snap at him for interrupting my daydream when I heard a deep, guttural growl coming from Hawke.
Before I could take the next breath, he lunged at me like a beast coming for its seasoned prey.
My eyes widened and my heart slammed against my ribs.
Every cell in my body screamed to run, to dive for the door, to hide behind Kaye.
But I didn’t.
Instead, I whispered, “Hawke,” and slowly stepped closer.
Our eyes locked again but his were very strange. They are burning like Vale’s, blood-red and flickering flickers of gold. It was so striking to stare at and I nearly lost my mind the more I drowned in them.
“Vale…” I called out instinctively like he was the one I was looking at.
I swallowed hard when I noticed him licking and parting his lips.
I saw his sharp fangs flash with hunger, and before I could react, he was inches from me.
I took a deep breath and extended the cup toward him. My body was shaking but to my amazement, my hands were steady.
As he grabbed it from me, his fingers grazed mine and it sent a shiver through my spine.
He was freezing.
He drank fast. No pause, no breath. He drained the full glass in seconds like it was Sprite.
When he lowered the empty cup, blood stained the corners of his mouth. He breathed in deeply and his gaze softened, just barely.
And then, I got to hear his superheated, hoarse voice, and the edge of desire in it.
“Did you wait long?”
I shook my head, afraid that if I spoke, a moan would escape.
"Welcome back," Kaye said, his voice laced with a mockingly cheerful tone but Hawke didn’t even flinch. It was as if Kaye didn’t exist.
Without so much as a warning, he hurled the empty glass straight at him.
It struck Kaye directly in the left eye, and a guttural scream tore from his throat. I blinked, stunned, as I realized Hawke was no longer in front of me.
He was crouched over Kaye, pulling the glass from his mutilated eye, then driving it back in again and again in a merciless way.
I gasped, my hands flying to my mouth as I stumbled back in shock.
“Hawk- are you insane!” He screamed but Hawke didn’t stop until he destroyed both of his eyes.
I felt a weird sense of déjà vu, like I’d watched a clip of someone getting their eyes ripped out before in the past.
I was amazed and a little terrified.
Was this some kind of vampire punishment?
My gaze flickered to the blood splattered across the floor with every thrust.
Finally, Hawke ripped it out one last time and shoved Kaye back, sending him sprawling.
I stood still, watching him from a new perspective.
For a second, the scene was overlayed with that bloody night before the sound of Kaye’s scream pierced my ears.
“You maimed me over some cursed bitch? You’ll regret this, Hawke. I promise you that.”
“Insult her again, and I’ll toss aside every year of brotherhood between us and bury you myself,” Hawke said coldly, and I gulped hard.
My throat was parched, but between my legs, I was soaked and wetter than a rising tide.
After Kaye stormed out of the hospital room, I couldn’t speak. Could barely breathe. Hawke’s eyes pinned me in place, and he knew.
He knew exactly how turned on I was.
He stepped closer, slowly, then wrapped me in his arms, possessive and cold.
“Tell me,” he murmured, his nose caressing my hair. “What exactly made you this horny? Hm? You filthy little thing.”
“His screams perhaps,” I said breathlessly as I felt his bloody hand slipping inside my panties.
I bit back a suppressed moan, “Hawke. Stop.”
“You don't want me to.” He asserted, then shoved his fingers deep inside my pussy.
“Ah!” I gasped, breath catching in my throat.
Then the door creaked open.
We both froze. His fingers were still buried inside me as his piercing gaze snapped toward the door.
I felt the familiar chill that comes with a powerful vampire presence and as summer the man before me was the acclaimed Deathbringer, Baran Nömad.
Hawke’s jaw tightened and that confirmed my suspicions.
Baran glanced at where Hawke’s hand was and he let out a dark laugh.
“So he lives. And the first thing he does is touch you? What an Epic love story.” He said, as if he didn't notice the blood on the floor and shattered glass.
Hawke pulled out his fingers and turned to face him, then his hand moved to clasp around my waist. The way he holds me always makes me feel safe. “True. Ours is an extraordinary love story. Maybe that’s why your older brother wants in.”
His voice was thick with rage and just barely held back the snarl rising in his throat.
The tension in the room coiled like a whip around me.
Baran scoffed. “If you think my brother has the intention of romancing her, you are wrong. The best she can be is a Blood Slave. This isn't some reverse harem love story.”
“It is.” I intercepted before I could stop it.
Nyx. Are you crazy? Why did you just say that?
I cautioned myself then I realized that I wasn’t the one who had spoken. It was - Syndra.
Her voice was like a siren.
“You are a weak mortal. How can you even handle two of them?”
“Don’t get curious,” Hawke warned. “Or I’ll kill you,”
I was still in shock but hearing Hawke say he would kill Baran forced me to remain in the present.
They exchanged a look so intense, it could’ve sliced through iron.
Baran took a step forward, hatred simmering in his dark eyes. It was directed at Hawke... and undoubtedly at me too.
“I'd love to see you try,” he replied, an evil smirk tugging his lips. "Once you're settled in New Orleans, let's make it official. A duel to the death. When I kill you, I will fuck your sister on your gr—”
The door burst open before he could finish.
A tall, chic, and exotic woman—vampire in a two-piece dark pants and blazer stepped in, balancing two white shopping bags in one arm and a black bag in the other.
A single glance at her was enough to know that she wasn’t here because she wanted to, but because duty forced her to.
“I swear, if I hear one more argument echo down the corridor like a bad opera rehearsal—”
She stopped in her tracks, her fangs glaring as her eyes flicked between Baran and Hawke.
She appeared like she was a strong vampire but I didn't know who she was. At all.
“There will be no duel to the death,” She cut in finally, her firm voice slicing through the vicious tension.
“Hawke, you're currently under house arrest. Graciously confined to the Supreme Sovereign Estate. You're not allowed to leave until the Vespera dagger is found and returned to Queen Leyla.”
She’s Raina. Vale’s assistant.
Hawke’s voice echoed in my mind and I gave a look over. She was taller than I was, with black hair pulled back tightly in the sleekest ponytail I’d ever seen. It beats the flight attendants I saw when I was seven.
There was something cold and deliberate in the way she stood composed, detached, and clearly not here to make friends.
She crossed her arms and looked at Hawke as if waiting for him to object. But he didn't.
Her eyes narrowed sharply when he completely ignored her. I could see the envy in her eyes as they locked with mine across the room. “And these are for you.” She dropped the bags on the floor with a snort.
“Was there a blood bath in there?” She hissed.
“We leave in fifteen minutes,” Baran said, and glared at Hawke like he was telling him that he wasn't done with him yet.
“I don’t need to help you change, do I, little princess?” She asked with a syrupy, mocking smile. Then she turned and walked out, the sharp click of her heels punctuating her steps.
She was gone in a blink. Didn’t even register in my brain. Who notices nobodies, anyway?
Baran didn't leave instantly. He stepped closer to Hawke, their heights matching. “Don’t even think about running off with her,” he said, his voice rough and tight with a pain he could barely contain. “Push me, and I’ll do something I’ll carry like a curse for the rest of eternity.”
Then he was gone.
