Chapter 135 Chapter 135

ALINA'S POV

The nerves of that witch.

That absolute...witch!

I had surgery? Surgery??? Like I could afford that!

I already knew she was wealthy, her family were wealthy, they had been, always been and looks like they'd continue to be! They were in the fucking news!

Did she not know I wasn't rich like her? That my family wasn't and isn't right now??

Come to rub in my face about cosmetic surgeries... she's had numerous I'm sure! How about she go pop something bloody and huge right out of her and see if she won't look different!

"Stupid brat!" I cussed, annoyed still.

"You're still mad? C'mon, it's been hours already!" Cleo pushed, laughed playfully. "I bet she's somewhere eating some expensive shit and you're mopping over a conversation you clearly won. If it is as you told me."

"It is exactly how I told you." I clarified, "Why will I lie?"

She smiled, pouring a drink. Another glass. "We should celebrate then!" She said, Cleo. "First time, bad Lina came out and put an evil bitch in her place! Cheers!" She clicked my glass, throwing back happily. Throat cringing as she came back up, "Ah! That hits the spot."

"Really? Your throat got to be burning, 5 glasses. We're going to need to get you a ride home."

"Oh please," She rolled her eyes, "A few glasses don't scare me, now drink up. You've been at that third glass for a while, we still got at least 5 more to go."

"5?? Girl, you've got work tomorrow."

"And who says I've got show up sane?" She retorted, sassy in every which way. I chuckled. She smirked, pouring another drink. "Drink up! We're celebrating!"

"We sure are." I clicked glass with her, throwing it all back. Cringing like she did and laughing our asses off as our eyes met.

That was how I spent my evening after leaving Oxygen. A slowly suffocating, annoying building for anyone to be in.

To think I actually looked forward to that same place just barely a week ago...that spoke volumes about what changed.

Anyways at the end, I had to call Mark to come get a drunk ass Cleo home. Shocking how those two were turning out, she even had him on her speed dials.

I booked a cab home, silent and just taking in everything as the brief journey gradually came to an end. The main gates were just up ahead, so I had a bit a trekking to do. It helped wash off the drinks too.

I was just doing my thing, minding my own business when a car zonked loudly behind me. Riding past.

Red.

A red car. And I knew just who drove that car.

Him.

But worse, she was in it as well. Lana.

"Great. Just great." I muttered, "A great way to end the night after a shitty day at the office. First the fiancé then fiancée. This couple sure is out to ruin my day entirely."

I stopped in my tracks just then, watching them come out. The car halt up ahead, him first and then her. Laughing and smiling too.

"Oh baby, you shouldn't say that!" She giggled, loud. Tapping his arm lightly, utterly annoying. Her voice echoing everywhere.

"Does she even know how loud she is?" I questioned, irritated. "Everywhere is all dark, can't she see it? It's late. Who laughs out loud so late??"

Even Cleo didn't laugh half like that while we waited for Mark to show up.

"And she's got a flashy wrist watch too." I scoffed, "You should use those some time Lana. So annoying."

I was aware I was hating right now. I was being a stupid ass hater, but could you blame me?? I was already at the end of my stick, then she decided to show up at my floor. Wanted to push me around too, I just snapped.

Something in me just bubbled. It was still bubbling.

I looked away from them then. Not wanting to see anymore. After all, Cleo said to let shit go. I won the conversation, right?

I won.

But somehow I couldn't help looking right back at their figure. Seeing her giggle and stuff, him letting it happen. The both of them... perfect.

Just like that. So easy.

It irritated me to the core.

But then again, why was I standing watching them?? I could literally walk past and be rid of all these feelings.

"That's right. Why am I standing here?" I realized, looking around. "If I continued walking, I'd be at the front doors by now. Why am I here?"

Come to think of it, I'd been doing this lately. Ever since she came back, it was either I was leaving for work too early or I was coming home late, or pausing in my tracks like this whenever she or they drove past.

Almost like I was hiding.

Why?

Why was I doing this??

"You're still acting stupid, Alina." I chastised, everything clear. "How can you even think of doing this? Are you some thief? Why are you hiding?? You owe nobody nothing. You owe her nothing, you are honestly in your apartment!"

So what if she sees you?

What if they do?

They already know you. He does, and in more ways that he should, but main thing, she does as well.

They are both people from the past. Highschool schoolmates and that's it.

"You're no longer that girl. You're no longer 16, so stop hiding." I talked to myself, holding head high. Adjusting my coat and everything. Ready to move. "Now go into your apartment. You're the damn owner, even if you didn't pay."

Go in and don't give a fuck about them.

"From now on, you're going to ignore them. Ignore HIM like never before. Nothing happened as long as you're concerned!" Cleo's words vibrated in my ears, giving me courage.

"Yeah!" I braced myself, moving slowly. " I don't give a shit. I don't!" With that I walked faster. Steps heavier, bolder as I approached from behind, their clueless selves still standing out and discussing lord knows. Her chuckles ringing out.

"Since when did this bastard become such a comedian??" I wondered out loud, irritated. "Proper bastard and stupid rich brat. A match made in heaven!"

Pfft!

I rounded them then, coming out from the side, catching them unawares, a startled shriek from her but I simply walked. Got on the foyer, continuing my way up.

Until,

"Hey!" She called, "What are you-W-w-" She choked, shocked. "Alina. What are you doing here?"

I smiled stiff at that, nodding a little greeting and continued. But she stopped me again, "Did you follow me? Us?"

"Follow you??" I turned,

You're even more crazier than I thought!

I almost laughed in her face then. Taking in the sheer confusion etched on her features, the bastard's gaze going a shade darker but I didn't pay him a single mind.

One look and you'll already know.

She turned to him then, "Baby, look, look who I found at Oxygen today! Alina." She smiled, brightly too. Too bright if you asked me.

It screamed guilty.

"I didn't know you employed her. I didn't know you two met again, we're all schoolmates. It's nice to see each other again! We should hang out more often."

I'd rather not.

"But how come you're here, Alina?" She faced me properly, finally deciding to get to the main discuss. "Is there a problem at the office? Something you needed to report and...followed us??"

She was still on that talk.

I had come back down for this. Talks were getting more ridiculous, and frankly, I've had too many drinks tonight to house such patience for this

So I faced her.

Faced him. Exchanged a look with him, smirks forming on my lips. My suspicions recieving confirmation just then.

She doesn't know anything.

She doesn't know about what happened, what he did, or that I lived here. She didn't know I worked at Oxygen. Much less how he tried to make me his mistress while being engaged with her.

He had his 'mistress', me, come live under the same roof with them. Meaning he planned everything from the start!

He was a fucking dirty planner.

A two timer.

And she didn't know.

She knew nothing, but I'm feeling gracious tonight.

I'll do the honours.

"This was going to be so good." I practically smiled all teeth, calmly facing her. The same face I saw earlier in the afternoon, same face I was staring at right now. But unlike earlier, I preferred this version much better.

"Hey Lana, " I smiled, started. She frowned. Confused. I grinned even more.

"What are you doing here, Alina? How you get past security at the gates??"

"Oh, that's just because they know me." I waved off to her, "I've passed there a thousand times, they ought to recognise me."

"What?" Her face twisted even more. Confusion. "Why will they- how-

"You didn't know? Oh, you didn't know that i live here??" I asked, acting surprised too. She choked.

"Live-

"I live here!" I re-enforced, "I've been living here, so of course they'll know me. They see me every morning and then at night after work! I live upstairs. Second floor, second elevator to your left. Just right beside yours." I winked.

Her mouth fell open. No words.

Expression mortified.

Stunned!

Mission successful.
